How many eggs do you use for an omelette?

Thinking of having omelette for lunch, I'm undecided on how many eggs to use. I used to use 3, but recently have been having 2, but I'm quite hungry today but 3 feels a bit greedy 🤔

YABU - Use one, dont be a pig.

YANBU - Have allll the eggs, and chuck some cheese in to too.

I'm eating one right now which contains..

1 large egg
120g carton egg whites
Red onion
Tomatoes
Chicken sausages x2
Spinach
Cheese

With 100g of heinz beans on the side.

Everything is measured and weighed because I'm trying to lose weight and also the reason why I'm using egg whites. If I wasn't I would use 3 eggs and way more cheese.

I only had a small slice of toast for breakfast so I needed something big to last, this has definitely done the job.

4 large eggs with a filling of fried mushrooms and a smattering of grated cheddar. That does me as a main meal and I'm 6'3" and and 17 stone. I've shed a stone in the past month and a 4-egg omelette has served as my main evening meal roughly a couple of days each week. For someone of a more normal size a 3-egg omelette should be plenty.

I usually do 2 per person, but if you want 3, have 3. If you had to choose a food to 'overeat' (it's not really, but you know what I mean) then eggs are a good, healthy choice.

I don't know calories, but I'd use butter to cook, cheese on top, avocado on the side. Is that only half a sandwich?

Ah an avocado is quite substantial.

This would be my ideal, I love a double yolker. Do you use the white for something else?

I'm not getting the whites equal protein thing from other posters, yolks are coming up as higher in protein and also other important nutrients.

Yeah I fridge or freezer them and then have an excuse to make pavlova

And yeah some people avoid the fat in yolks, both parts are high in protein

Tinkerbyebye · 13/02/2024 13:53

3 eggs and cheese

CurlewKate · 13/02/2024 14:03

It depends how hungry you are. Can you imagine a man ever thinking "I'm hungry enough to eat a 3 egg omelette, but I'll have 2 because 3 is greedy."?

nokidshere · 13/02/2024 14:29

I just ate an omlette 😁

3 eggs, 4 rashers bacon, big pile of mushrooms - yum. That will keep me full until dinner.

DamnSpots · 13/02/2024 15:06

I don't get people just eating the whites - there's so much goodness in the yolk, and the amount of fat is tiny compared to other things we eat.

Ilovemyshed · 13/02/2024 15:14

Usually 2 or 3 or 5 between two of us.

The protein is higher in yolk as well.

Yes Blush

Two eggs

Davros · 13/02/2024 16:56

M&S sells poached eggs in twos. They're not bad

4 just for myself, I thought that was normal before reading this!

MinnieMountain · 13/02/2024 17:05

I have 3, normally with half an onion and some mushrooms fried first.

Google says these are £2! I can buy half a dozen eggs for that! Won't they be overcooked if you heat them up?

Davros · 13/02/2024 17:25

You microwave them. I've only had them once out of curiosity

BeansOnToast32 · 13/02/2024 18:12

I have 2 with cheese.

I don't eat omelettes often though, sometimes I get the egg ick. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don't know why but I find omelettes can taste too eggy 🤣 it's probably my least favourite way to eat eggs unless I'm really in the mood for an omelette.

Cheeseflakes · 13/02/2024 18:13

3 is my minimum for anything with eggs - scrambled etc.

Were they still runny in the middle like they should be?

My omelette twin!

Davros · 13/02/2024 19:42

@Kalevala one was perfect and the other was half runny. I was quite impressed but I haven't had them since

AlexandraPeppernose · 13/02/2024 19:48

2 eggs, 15g of parmesan

PawPaw24 · 13/02/2024 20:04

3 eggs
Usually with mushrooms, ham and cheese and a salad on the side
