How many eggs do you use for an omelette?

Thinking of having omelette for lunch, I'm undecided on how many eggs to use. I used to use 3, but recently have been having 2, but I'm quite hungry today but 3 feels a bit greedy 🤔

YABU - Use one, dont be a pig.

YANBU - Have allll the eggs, and chuck some cheese in to too.

2 per person

Backoro · 13/02/2024 09:55

3 but sometimes 4 if they’re small eggs

PrincessCharlette · 13/02/2024 09:57

One,

jasflowers · 13/02/2024 09:59

2 with peppers, onion and smokey bacon.

For a main meal, 3 as above plus finely pre cooked chopped sweet potatoes.

There’s a peep show reference for everything.

How are you all alive on such a small amount of food??? 4 to 6 for me.

LenaLamont · 13/02/2024 10:03

Three eggs, a sprinkling of cheese, and a sliced tomato on the side.

AlltheFs · 13/02/2024 10:04

3 shop bought usually, we have bantams and I usually use 5-6 of their eggs.

Kalevala · 13/02/2024 10:05

I use two as it suits my frying pan size, that's how many fried eggs I have too.

DuchessOfPort · 13/02/2024 10:05

2 - but mostly because I also have poached or boiled eggs in pairs, even with toast. I wouldn’t be able to eat three poached eggs (maybe I could but I’ve never tried) in one go.

I also stuff my omelettes with loads of things like mushrooms, peppers, spinach, cheese, onions and it’s cooked in a mass of frothing butter so 3 really would be overkill for me.

PrimalLass · 13/02/2024 10:06

They are 70 cals each. Eat as many as you like.

IamaRevenant · 13/02/2024 10:06

Two, but with lots of stuff in it - peppers, onion, mushrooms, sometimes ham or bacon. Then I'm one of these people that saves the best mouthful until last so I always sprinkle a bit of cheese on just one smaĺ area haha

How do you know if it's one of two main meals a day or just a light lunch? You can't tell much based on one meal.

Use one 🙄.

Surely it depends if this is your main meal of the day?
You say it’s for lunch so I assume you will be having a large cooked meal this evening? If so surely two eggs is enough

Surely under 350 calories for lunch a filling lunch is still on the leaner side? If I ate two eggs for lunch with nothing else I would be hungry, have no energy for the gym etc.

I would be bored by the end of a 3 egg omelette but the eggs we buy are a good size.

2 eggs, vegetables, cheese, splash of milk, chives, sriracha. Rocket and cherry tomatoes

Enjoy!

Kalevala · 13/02/2024 10:10

I like a potato omelette with sliced potato fried first then eggs and cheese on top so it's more substantial.

Yup. Plenty of salads, let alone sandwiches have more.

NomNomYum · 13/02/2024 10:17

I had 3 eggs. Added onion, most of a small tin of sweetcorn that needed using up, peas, chilli flakes and cheese. And an avocado.

Probably won't want much dinner tonight now.

2 is enough but I add ham or chorizo and a fair amount of onion/mushroom. If you want to cut down the fat, you can use one whole egg and multiple egg whites.

DRS1970 · 13/02/2024 10:20

One for a snack, or two for a meal, assuming there are no sides.

mondaytosunday · 13/02/2024 10:20

Two per person.

BananaPyjamaLlama · 13/02/2024 10:21

An omlette in our house is 2 eggs each, with added milk, spinach/mushrooms and cheese.

I use two eggs but I fry with butter and top with cheese.

Why would you want less fat?

Zanatdy · 13/02/2024 10:24

Two and some kind of filling. I never make them though
