To think this is a vote winner (though not election clincher) from Sunak?

Lion400 · 12/02/2024 22:36

Thought this was an impressive and clear response to the question, from Rishi. I suppose Labour will likely win by a landslide, because many people don’t care enough about women’s rights. Because I do care very much about women’s rights, I may vote Conservative for the first time ever (cue outrage for Lion). Will I regret it? Possibly. But I’d regret voting for Labour (aka women’s rights removers), even more.

What on earth is "abhorrent" about supporting a trans colleague? Don't be ridiculous.

When 'supporting that colleague,' means making female spaces mixed sex, that's abhorrent. Stop flinging insults Adam. Have you no actual arguments?

EasternStandard · 14/02/2024 22:24

hotinhereandthere · 14/02/2024 22:21

And then loss of privacy, dignity and safety plus unfairness in sports

How have your privacy, dignity and safety been impacted by trans people - concrete examples please that you have experienced?

And as I keep having to repeat ad infinitum a lawfully-established separate or single-sex service provider can prevent, limit or modify trans people’s access to the service. This is allowed under the Equality Act.

It is my experience not sure what you’re after. You believe men over women so I can’t do much about that

AdamRyan · 14/02/2024 22:25

literalviolence · 14/02/2024 22:23

They're not protecting women. The status quo is not protecting women and you're trying to hide that fact.

How is me clearly spelling out the status quo and the Labour proposal me hiding anything?

If anything I'd say there is increasing desperation on this thread to get back onto familiar ground. It's not going your way and the ratcheting up of hyperbolic posts proves it.

I did actually. Unfortunately the posts have been enthusiastically reported so the evidence has gone.

how convenient. I didn't see the deleted post. But why would mumsnet delete something so innocuous I wonder?

izimbra has a point though. The dehumanising language used about trans people, especially trans women here is disturbing, and the calls for policing them going about their daily lives, persecuting them, even publicly deriding them as a poster said in a previous thread will of course impact the mental health and wellbeing of this already vulnerable group of people. Treating your fellow humans with respect does not harm women. Trans people are not the threat. A culture of intolerance, persecution and dehumanising people is. And these are things you most often find in right wing media such as GB News, Daily Mail and The Telegraph where many of these so called 'GC' posters freely admit they get their 'facts' and opinions from.

Astonishing

‘And these are things you most often find in right wing media such as GB News, Daily Mail and The Telegraph where many of these so called 'GC' posters freely admit they get their 'facts' and opinions from’

Because last time I looked most people these days (or at least ones I know, which admittedly is a subset of the population), get their news and so on from many different sources. Weighing up the information and perhaps forming their own conclusions. Shocker.

Now here (in my OP) we had a snap shot of Sunak stating exactly what I would like Labour to say. That quote could have been in the guardian (ho ho), gb news, the times, the Washington post, the socialist worker, Nat geo, women’s railway weekly or aunt Fanny’s readers digest. It was the words to which I referred. The fact that some people wish to harp on (and on. And on) about it being from gb news (via Twitter via fb) is frankly, mind boggling.

Could you state here exactly where it is acceptable for people to ‘get their facts and opinions from’ ? I need to know before I do any further thinking. Thanks ever so much.

What's the difference between a trans woman and a male to you?

There's no difference. Some males are TW. Some don't mind being called men.

Not an insult. And not abhorrent. Most people don't care about sharing toilets with TW they know. Go Google the polls.

Someone disagreeing with you is not "abhorrent"

hotinhereandthere · 14/02/2024 22:28

Toys being thrown out of the pram willy-nilly (pun intended).

lifeturnsonadime · 14/02/2024 22:28

Right leaving you lot to argue amongst yourselves.

Reader if you are not happy that current laws allow males into women's single sex spaces email your prospective parliamentary candidates to ask their views on this and to let them know that women make up 51 % of the population of this country and our rights to single sex spaces matter more than the rights of males to express their gender.

This email is relevant whether you email a conservative or a labour candidate.

All parties should want to protect women.

Whichever party forms the next government should be prepared to make amendments to the Equality Act to ensure that women are protected.

If we don't tell them this matters they will say we didn't care.

The familiar ground of what the thread's about, do you mean? And most of the desperate flailing to finish or derail the thread is coming from you, @AdamRyan

The status quo is women excluded from sports, not offered rape crisis supports unable to join support groups raped in 'single sex' NHS wards, feeling unsafe in toilets and in some cases therfore not using the. You can call this hyperbole if you want butany sensible caring person would call that facts.

AdamRyan · 14/02/2024 22:29

The irony of people complaining about being portrayed as "bigots" on a thread where noone has called them a bigot, but then calling others views "abhorrent" is not lost one me. One could almost call it DARVO.

Hyperbole is you telling me I'm harming women and hiding the facts, just to be clear.

Someone disagreeing with me ia not necessarily abhorrent. The views expressed here, however have been. trying to blackmail women to let males into their spaces because of their poor mental wellbeing is abhorrent because it shows a total disregard for the women. calling someone ridiculous is an insult Adam though as you like to argue that black is white I'm sure you have a special definition of insulting which only includes what other la say to you and allows you to fling whatever mud you fancy

It's relevant to this point the PP made:
"People aren't saying trans people are the threat, they're saying males are."

I think its splitting hairs really. Its very clear to me "people" are saying TW are the threat. I just was clarifying if I'd understood properly.

Anyone? Please I need to know exactly what news and information sources I am allowed to read?
