Threatening Amazon email?

I’ve been a loyal Amazon customer for years. Over the last 6 months I’ve had to report a number of missing parcels
as they keep being left on my doorstep which is on a the main road and not a safe place. Most parcels just get lifted round here as there are a lot of opportunistic thefts. I’ve updated Amazon on this so many times asking them to ensure they are not left on my
doorstep, but it still happens.
Following the latest missing parcel I received this today which reads as pretty threatening and as though I’m at fault? What should I reply? If anything? Or am I being unreasonable and just ignore?

Not everyone can use Amazon lockers - if you are a wheelchair user you can often get a parcel delivered to a box out of your reach. They claim you can request a low box, but although you can request one, just like the “safe places”, they don’t actually pay any attention and you end up not being able to get the delivery.

Our local pickup point is a shop with no wheelchair access at all, so if I want to use Amazon it’s my house or nothing. I’m thankful that it’s rare anyone takes parcels from doorsteps here, but I do sympathise with the OP.

There's a ticky box during the checkout to tell them that you use a wheelchair and they will allocate a lower locker if you tick it.

What I'm finding appalling is how many posters on this thread are willing to pay for a service and then not actually receive it, and change their own lives to accommodate the failures of the paid service provider.

Grow some backbone, the lot of you. You've entered into a contract with Amazon and it's for them to deliver what you paid for.

IdaPolly · 08/02/2024 01:19

They dump and run with me too, but I assume they are really stressed at the number they need to deliver, probably having stressful driving conditions/problems parking etc and I sympathise with them.

Winter2020 · 08/02/2024 02:12

Hi OP,
I have read all of your posts. I think you need to complain to Amazon using the ring doorbell footage of your parcels being left at the door (if you possibly can), also the footage of parcels being lifted by a thief and the safe place instructions on the order that were ignored (I don't know if these safe place instructions are available in your orders or email confirmations). If no satisfaction complaining directly then try on some form of social media.

They don't need to cancel your account but they do need to flag it that parcels must not be left outside. So if no neighbor is available to take a parcel then it must go back to the depo. If Amazon don't have the means to flag an account in such a way then they need to develop one as you won't be the only person affected by this problem.

I hope you can get a resolution.

@Atlasstars1

As well as using an Amazon locker and arranging the delivery for when you're going to be in, I think you should cancel the cheque!!!

Spyral · 08/02/2024 02:58

Viviennemary · 08/02/2024 00:05

If you aren't in when your parcels arrive and there is no safe place to leave them what would you like them to do. Their hands are tied.

OMFG

doilooklikeicare · 08/02/2024 03:52

Stop using Amazon, it's not the shopping experience for you!

nappyvalley2024 · 08/02/2024 04:49

On a side note, I find it so sad that it's so common for people to be so opportunistic and steal parcels from peoples doorsteps.

Fuhjutvb · 08/02/2024 05:02

i'm rarely in for deliveries. I have a note on my door which says to deliver parcels next door. Never had a problem from any delivery driver. In fact they are so used to delivering next door even if I am in they just go straight there with parcels now.

pootlin · 08/02/2024 06:32

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 21:35

Yawn. You can’t. “Next day delivery” normally leads to delays. And even when I’m at home they don’t ring the bell they just Chuck in on my doorstep! Issue isn’t delivery days, it’s Amazon not doing their job and safely delivering my order!

They don’t have a duty to take your custom. If it’s not working for you or Amazon, then both of can walk away from each other and you shop elsewhere.

They’re not the fourth emergency service.

BobnLen · 08/02/2024 06:39

You probably need to get it delivered somewhere else or not use Amazon, eBay sells many things that Amazon does.

BobnLen · 08/02/2024 06:42

Amazon will probably just cancel your account but since you aren't happy with their service I'm surprised you use them anyway

seascape124 · 08/02/2024 06:50

I have had the same. I'm fortunate to have not had the items stolen but they did dump one in a muddy puddle and wreck it (leaving it outside in the rain by my doorstep this was unusable)

I have a designated safe drop off location that is ALWAYS ignored. Regardless of the amount of times I contact customer services I'm just fortunate things don't get stolen. It's very odd as it's a recent thing they used to be very good following instructions. Amazon is so convenient and it's frustrating when the drivers through laziness just dump the parcels. I remember at my old address them throwing a parcel over the fence into the back garden.

None of this helps you resolve your problem but no your not alone with the issue.

On a side note, I find it so sad that it's so common for people to be so opportunistic and steal parcels from peoples doorsteps.

When I have a clear out, I just put things next to my bin and they're gone within the hour. Haven't had to visit the dump for years.

WildFlowerBees · 08/02/2024 07:09

We have a secure parcel box at the side of our house, makes life so much easier. Could you look into that maybe?

CasperGutman · 08/02/2024 07:10

Your Amazon delivery may be Saturday, but it isn't always the case. You can choose any day. My delivery day is Monday, because I always WFH then.

BobnLen · 08/02/2024 07:38

Yes, we use the Amazon delivery day option, we are retired and I generally know which day one of us will definitely be in where we have no plans

CucumberBagel · 08/02/2024 08:09

DragonFly98 · 07/02/2024 19:26

It was implied, but you missed the point that a burglar can make up an excuse to knock on your door.

This.

Eightfour · 08/02/2024 08:15

I love the posts saying “don’t let Amazon get away with this” and the equivalent. What is OP going to do? Take Amazon to court and force them to provide some customer service? Hilarious.

Just stop using them. The world survived before they came along, you will survive not using Amazon I promise you.

Viviennemary · 08/02/2024 08:19

VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia · 08/02/2024 01:05

Put your Ring doorbell footage of the drivers dumping stuff on your step and throwing it on Dropbox.

Reply to that email with the links to the Ring footage and point out that their drivers are leaving the parcels in unsafe places.

The point is there doesn't appear to be a safe place. So what on earth are the delivery drivers supposed to do.

RadiatorHead · 08/02/2024 08:22

I would just ask for your stuff to go to an Amazon locker. You may well be honest but plenty of people aren’t and from their end it looks like you may be nicking stuff. It’s such a shame that a minority of opportunistic thieves spoil things for the majority. This is exactly why you see sellers on places like Vinted selling piles of clothes that are brand new with tags. Sorry but I fail to believe that one person can have 40/50 items in their wardrobe that they’ve never worn 🙄

Tandora · 08/02/2024 08:55

IncompleteSenten · 07/02/2024 15:46

X post. Reply with screenshots of where you've told them your designated safe space and your instructions on your previous instructions and tell them they should not be holding you accountable for them not following delivery instructions.

Only reasonable response on this thread so far!

TrishTrix · 08/02/2024 08:56

@VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia tge Amazon customer service team aren’t allowed apparently to look at external footage.

I’ve tried to send them stuff loads of times.

they don’t give a shit. Just like the couriers. Boycott the company.

TrishTrix · 08/02/2024 08:58

@BobnLen specifying delivery day doesn&5 work if they don’t actually contact you/ring the doorbell and just sling parcel outside your house or block of flats.

I’ve waited in and the first indication I’ve had that the courier has been is the “delivery successful”email.

RatatouillePie · 08/02/2024 09:13

I'm assuming you have a sign on your front door that says:

"DO NOT LEAVE PARCEL ON DOORSTEP.
Please leave parcel next door" ?

Amazon are just following a procedure. They send that message out to anyone who has made a certain amount of lost parcel claims, and then if you make another claim of lost parcel they will close your account.

They're a business and as long as they're not discriminating, they can choose to close any account they like.
