Threatening Amazon email?

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:22

I’ve been a loyal Amazon customer for years. Over the last 6 months I’ve had to report a number of missing parcels
as they keep being left on my doorstep which is on a the main road and not a safe place. Most parcels just get lifted round here as there are a lot of opportunistic thefts. I’ve updated Amazon on this so many times asking them to ensure they are not left on my
doorstep, but it still happens.
Following the latest missing parcel I received this today which reads as pretty threatening and as though I’m at fault? What should I reply? If anything? Or am I being unreasonable and just ignore?

I can sympathise as Amazon don’t even ring my door they just dump and run most of the time. But I’m lucky I’m not on a Main Street. I have a neighbour down to those them as well

IncompleteSenten · 07/02/2024 15:51

That's a shame.

Maybe ask your neighbour if instead of parcels being delivered to you with her as leave with if not in, if you could put her down as your actual delivery address.

My sister orders things that she has delivered to my mum then my brother in law collects them from mum when he gets home from work.

Ginandjuice57884 · 07/02/2024 15:51

Get stuff sent to a pickup location instead of bothering your neighbours. There must be a LOT of parcels going missing to trigger this as Amazon have a more forgiving attitude to returns/lost items than any other company.

MereDintofPandiculation · 07/02/2024 15:52

Have you spoken to an actual amazon person about the failure to follow instructions or just used the automatic missing parcel facility?

If your neighbour is “lovely”, would she allow you to use her address for your delivery?

QueenBean22 · 07/02/2024 15:52

If it’s an ongoing problem then I can understand where they are coming from. Their drivers are on the clock so if you can get it delivered to a locker or post office I’d do this.

I used to sell a lot on eBay and o sent something signed for, the parcel was sent and I got proof of delivery from the Royal Mail tracking number. The buyer tried to claim back as she said she hadn’t received it and then went on to inform me that she had a recurring problem where posties were leaving items on her doorstep. EBay sided with me and Royal Mail said no claim applicable as they had proof of delivery.

I think as you know it is a problem you need to explore other options as the drivers are not delivering to your neighbour

Well I’ve got my safe place marked on my account clearly as
my neighbour who is mainly in as works from home so I feel I have down all I can on my part and I shouldn’t be penalised for their drivers ignoring my safe place and leaving it on my unsafe doorstep in full view of people driving by who lift it ☹️

Well, you can take that attitude and Amazon can stop sending you parcels. Or you can start using Amazon lockers or a local delivery point at a shop.

LetsgoLego · 07/02/2024 15:53

It's fine. Ask for it to be delivered to an Amazon locker, problem solved.

Whatevs23 · 07/02/2024 15:53

They are "threatening" to not allow you to order from their site anymore I suppose, but that doesn't make it a "threatening email"!

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:57

It’s frustrating as it’s only been last 6
months. Prior to that it was fine! When I say threatened I don’t mean personally attacked, but threatening to close my account when I have done nothing wrong and am inconvenienced every time a parcel gets dumped on my doorstep ignoring my clear note on the account not to do so.

Buy a secure parcel box, or direct them to your back door , couriers don't have time to be running about to your neighbours

lifeispainauchocolat · 07/02/2024 15:57

Can you get the parcels delivered straight to your neighbour instead?

Dinoswearunderpants · 07/02/2024 15:57

You live in a dodgy area and you think Amazon should be responsible for that?

I suggest you buy a Ring doorbell. Maybe pop to Argos instead of ordering from Amazon :-)

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:58

I have a ring door bell that shows the driver chucking in on my doorstep!

But that's what threatened is usually taken to mean. If you say you've gotten a threatening email it sounds like you are being personally threatened.

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:59

No argos
near me, nor the same
stock, but cheers for your helpful suggestion 🙄

Delivery to a locker might be the way forward here, particularly if you live somewhere where things go walkies frequently

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:59

Nope, threatening to close my account= threatening

OP posts:
TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 07/02/2024 16:00

This is why I always use Amazon lockers

We will have to agree to disagree on the definition of a threatening email in that case.

But clearly the current setup isn't working. Have you considered using Amazon lockers?

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:59

Nope, threatening to close my account= threatening

Not really, in these circumstances it seems reasonable. Threatening would be we are going to reclaim the costs of your claims, if you dare place another order with us we will take further action etc. All they're saying here is that they don't want you to order from them again basically as they're out of pocket. If you have a ring doorbell do you have video of whoever keeps nicking the parcels?

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 16:06

Yes- all have face fully covered, all been passed to local police, it’s a known issue in this city🤷‍♀️

I've had a problem with Amazon drivers leaving things on the doorstep. Luckily nothing missing so far but they just ignore the instruction not to leave it on the doorstep.

No other delivery company does this. It's an Amazon/delivery company problem that Amazon are trying to make a customer problem.

Laurama91 · 07/02/2024 16:07

When I complained about things being left on my doorstep they put a note on my account saying things are not to be left. Have you contacted them or just kept reporting as missing?

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 16:08

Exactly! They offer a “leave us your safe place” as an option so I do but they ignore it and then when I complain my parcels I’ve paid for are missing as their driver ignored it, and left it in an unsafe place, they threaten to close my account! It’s bonkers!

OP posts:
Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 16:10

Sooo many times and I have a note on my account not to leave anything on doorstep but they keep doing so! Every customer service rep I speak to when a parcel goes missing is very sorry, can see that Amazon is at fault for dumping your them on my doorstep so to get this email threatening to take further action /close my account feels really insulting.
