Threatening Amazon email?

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:22

I’ve been a loyal Amazon customer for years. Over the last 6 months I’ve had to report a number of missing parcels
as they keep being left on my doorstep which is on a the main road and not a safe place. Most parcels just get lifted round here as there are a lot of opportunistic thefts. I’ve updated Amazon on this so many times asking them to ensure they are not left on my
doorstep, but it still happens.
Following the latest missing parcel I received this today which reads as pretty threatening and as though I’m at fault? What should I reply? If anything? Or am I being unreasonable and just ignore?

Can see their point of view though, if you've tried your end to sort it by suggesting safe places etc if they're still going missing perhaps its just not a suitable place for them to deliver. Unfortunate yes, but why should they keep refunding often, much better for a business to say sorry we can't do deliver to you anymore. Can you email back to say you'll use a pick up point going forward? Plenty of them about now.

maudelovesharold · 07/02/2024 15:31

I would agree that there’s not much they can do, if you’re not in when they deliver and you haven’t given an alternative address/neighbour they can leave it with. I know someone who was in the same position (door onto the street) and used to get Amazon deliveries to their work address. Or a pick up point as suggested.

Tinkerbyebye · 07/02/2024 15:33

What do you want them to do. You continue to order parcels for delivery when you are not there and know that it’s likely to get nicked!!

either stop ordering, order so that it’s delivered when you are there, or suggest a safe place to leave the parcels

why should Amazon have to keep sucking up the costs?

Fuddlefiend · 07/02/2024 15:33

I don't think that's particularly accusatory.

I think that it's more your address is going to be blacklisted as an unsafe place, and it doesn't make sense for them to keep trying to deliver to you as your not in and parcels get nicked if they are left (despite the fact they're being left somewhere completely stupid) I think theyre angling for you to change to picking up from lockers or local stores etc

muddyford · 07/02/2024 15:34

I can't see that that is threatening. Where is is threatening? Why don't you use a pick up location? Why should Amazon, and by extension the rest of us who shop with them, keep refunding you when you haven't made safe arrangements for your delivery?

KrisAkabusi · 07/02/2024 15:36

You keep telling them it gets stolen from your doorstep, but have you given them an alternative delivery option? If not, I can see why they don't want to keep sending you orders that just keep costing them money.

BoohooWoohoo · 07/02/2024 15:36

Have you considered using Amazon Locker or getting deliveries to another address like work or a parent or friend’s house? if my packages were being nicked I would stop having them delivered to my home tbh

Mimikyuu · 07/02/2024 15:37

Sounds like a pretty standard email tbh. I’m an account manager and this is something I would send.

ApolloandDaphne · 07/02/2024 15:37

Where are you asking them to leave them if you are not in? If you haven't suggested a safe place then I'm not sure what else they can do. Maybe you need to start using an Amazon locker.

DancefloorAcrobatics · 07/02/2024 15:37

As safe places don't seem to work, can you change your delivery date?
When you check out, you can often choose a later delivery day. Say you order on a Tuesday and delivery is Thursday/ Friday you can choose to pool all orders together for a delivery on Saturday/ Sunday.

I do agree with amazon, its your responsibility to ensure your parcel is delivered safely. You can track parcels and choose delivery dates, so just ensure you are in when it arrives.

Amazon is a selling platform, and if smaller businesses have to refund regularly, they will eventually go bust!

DamnSpots · 07/02/2024 15:39

Seems reasonable to me, they can't keep delivering to you if things regularly go missing, and you're never in to receive the parcels. I appreciate you've tried to ask them to not leave parcels outside the door, but what else are they supposed to do with them when you're not in? They don't have a system like Royal Mail where they return to a depot for you to collect there.
As others have suggested, you could use a pick up point, or invest in a parcel box for outside your home (so parcels can be posted in, but only you can then unlock to access them).

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:42

Well I’ve got my safe place marked on my account clearly as
my neighbour who is mainly in as works from home so I feel I have down all I can on my part and I shouldn’t be penalised for their drivers ignoring my safe place and leaving it on my unsafe doorstep in full view of people driving by who lift it ☹️

OP posts:
Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:43

Yes my alternative delivery option is my neighbour but their drivers seem to ignore this 🤷‍♀️

IncompleteSenten · 07/02/2024 15:44

It's clearly an ongoing problem so I can see why it's been flagged but you've repeatedly told them not to leave items on your doorstep so that's the delivery person not following the instructions which is hardly your fault.

Make different arrangements. Amazon delivery day for example. Make sure you're home on the saturday you know deliveries will come. Or have things delivered to a pick up point. Or get a parcel box that is secured onto your wall. Or talk to a friend or family member who has a more secure place and arrange deliveries to go there.

ZebraPensAreLife · 07/02/2024 15:44

Has your neighbour agreed to be the alternative delivery option? If not, they may be not answering the door / refusing the parcel and you might need to think of another place.

AtomicBlondeRose · 07/02/2024 15:45

I think it’s impossible for OP to make sure they’re at home when deliveries will come - the estimate they give for delivery is not massively reliable and recently I’ve had a notification about 30 minutes before something was delivered that I wasn’t expecting for a couple more days!

idontlikealdi · 07/02/2024 15:46

Does your neighbour want to be the back up option?

Just get the deliveries to a locker.

It's not a 'threatening email'

IncompleteSenten · 07/02/2024 15:46

X post. Reply with screenshots of where you've told them your designated safe space and your instructions on your previous instructions and tell them they should not be holding you accountable for them not following delivery instructions.

IncompleteSenten · 07/02/2024 15:47

Another option maybe have a big note on your door saying do NOT leave parcels on my doorstep. Follow the delivery instructions?

Bearpawk · 07/02/2024 15:47

Can you get the deliveries to go to a nearby locker or local store ? My convenience store across the road takes them.

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:47

Yes my neighbour is lovely and has no problem taking in a parcel for me but they don't even try her door!
I cant control the delivery day- it gives an estimate of delivery day and dispatch but that is all.

OP posts:
KrisAkabusi · 07/02/2024 15:48

Yes my alternative delivery option is my neighbour but their drivers seem to ignore this
They do, because as far as they're concerned they ARE delivering to your primary location. Either set your neighbour as your main delivery location, or have it delivered to work, a locker, etc.

IncompleteSenten · 07/02/2024 15:49

Do they not have Amazon delivery day in your area? Its Saturdays and you can add to your order all week and everything comes on the Saturday.

Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:49

my work doesn’t allow personal deliveries (big company with
too many employees for this to be feasible)

OP posts:
Atlasstars1 · 07/02/2024 15:49

No not in my area sadly - would be great though!
