Taylor Swift tickets

I realise this will be frowned upon by a lot of people but hear me out. I'm lucky enough to have been able to buy 4 very decent tickets to see Taylor Swift in August this year in London. I'm a big fan, the plan was to go with family, although the 'kids' are grown they enjoy her music and are happy to come along for the experience more than being fans.

The dilemma I have is that tickets are so rare and the tour seems to be such a phenomenon that people are willing to pay an extortionate amount for them. As a family that are struggling with cost of living and have a bit of debt, I find myself in the position on considering whether to advertise these tickets for way above what I paid for them (£190 a ticket). I have seen them advertised for as much as over £2k a ticket, and I find myself thinking if there is a parent out there that has the funds/means and motivation to want to pay £8k for these tickets, would I be an idiot for not selling them?

I get just as much enjoyment at the £20 (solo singer) and £35 (full band) gigs that i attend, as do people who pay hundreds or more to see TS. The figures aren't the issue here.

"I suppose the differentiation in my mind is that touts buy them with the express plan of selling on for profit, something I have not and have never done."

So if I walk into a shop with the full intention of buying goods, but after a while, decide to nick something, that's different, yeah? 🤔

Nah. Sell gig tickets = tout. But I've said that already.

DoorChap · 08/02/2024 15:03

I’m not going to lie, rules aside , if someone offered me a huge price for tickets I’d bite their hand off for sure.

im still baffled at the prices though, i paid just over £1k for me and my partner to meet a singer at a gig (who is just as well known as Taylor) and drink with them for a whole hour. Ticket pricing has gone fucking bananas in the last few years.

I'm sorry this seems to have annoyed you so much, however I don't think this analogy quite meets the mark in the way you think it does.

Like I said, you go ahead. 🤷‍♀️

@WonderWoman17 the more you post on here the more you sound like someone who does this on a regular basis.

Post here, or sell tickets? I have sold tickets once before and that was pregnancy related and years ago. That was face value but was also nowhere near as in demand as this. If you mean am I some kind of long term, mass ticket seller, alas no.

I'm not annoyed, just calling a spade a spade.

Sorry if that seems to have ruffled you. 🙂

Santiagopink · 08/02/2024 15:18

Why not keep two tickets for whoever loves her most and sell two tickets at whatever you can get, and go in with the buyer so there won't be any issues on entrance. I don't have a problem with you making money on this. It's how the world works and its only a one off. How many people make money when selling their house? That's made property ownership unachievable for a lot of people. Seeing TS is hardly a crucial need so if someone pays over the odds that's their choice.

I think you are actually calling a tea spoon a spade tbh, but you crack on.

Hi. Not sure anyone can help however I’ve bought 2 x Taylor Swift tickets from ticketmaster for £600 each yesterday (must be resale?) and I regretted it within about 30 mins! They are the Liverpool VIP tickets for the Thursday night. Trouble is ticketmaster doesn’t allow me to sell or transfer them so looks like I’m stuck with them. Any advice anyone?

You need to contact TicketMaster and if you have no joy, then the promoter.

WV23 · 08/03/2024 10:54

Thank you, I messaged ticketmaster over 24hrs ago but no reply (doubt they will help though) who is the promoter?

3luckystars · 08/03/2024 11:01

I don’t think you can return VIP tickets but I could be wrong there.

SummaLuvin · 08/03/2024 11:11

My red flag detector is going haywire.

but on the off chance you’re genuine, according to the Ticketmaster FAQ you can resell VIP packages. I believe for a 10-15% uplift to make back your fees as well. It might not be available yet as it’s still processing? Either way contact TM to ensure safety and security for yourself and purchaser.

The Promoter is AEG.

WV23 · 08/03/2024 11:40

Thanks for that. I’ve sent them an email. I’m not hopeful but there must be some way of sorting this predicament I’ve managed to get myself into!

UnctuousUnicorns · 08/03/2024 11:48

Why on earth did you spend twelve hundred quid on a concert you don't even want to go to?! 😲 Were you vair, vair drunk at the time? 🤷‍♀️

That’s the same thing I was coming across under FAQ’s on TM

You don’t need to ask that as my wife has already asked me that! Although I was waiting for it…
I somehow thought it was a good idea in the 5 minute time you have to check out and soon came to my senses shortly afterwards!

Edited

Oh ok, as my tickets must have already been resale (I assume)? I wonder if that makes a difference.

WV23 · 11/03/2024 13:10

Got a reply from TM:

Thank you for your patience, due to the high volume of queries at the moment, we are unable to assist you with your request on the day or time of your query.

As you’ve bought tickets from an individual seller, unfortunately, we can’t exchange your tickets. Furthermore, we can only give you a refund if the event has been cancelled or rescheduled and the organisers are offering refunds. If that’s the case, we’ll send you an email telling you how to go about getting your money back.

Please be advised that Fan Guarantee aren’t available if tickets have been resold purchase from resale.

I'm sorry that we can't help you further with this, but if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.

SummaLuvin · 11/03/2024 13:19

very strange. they seem to address exchange, refund, fan guarantee, and event cancellation/rescheduling. but no mention on ability to resell tickets that have already been resold. unless I am missing something I would be asking for clarity on that, you'd have thought TM would love to resell them again and scope up 3 lots of fees for the same tickets.

WV23 · 11/03/2024 13:40

Yes, I just want the ability to resell them legitimately. I’m not looking to make any money and would be prepared to lose money on them. Just seems unfair. Yes it’s my fault for buying them in the first place but at least give me the ability to try and re-coup some money back.

Ihavenamechanged987 · 15/03/2024 12:31

I bought two tickets through AXS for Edinburgh but it’s a long distance from me and I’m starting to regret it. Does anybody know how you can resell through AXS?
