To not want to be sat near loud cackling women

What is it with groups of loud, cackling women these days? Third time I’ve eaten out recently and next to a table full of shouty, cackling women who seem to be in a contest of who can cackle the loudest. Doesn’t seem to matter whether it’s a posh place or not. I’m fed up of having to be sat near them whilst waiting for my food. Can’t move as we are in a table of 7. My three autistic children are completely silent! Feel like following my eldest child’s example and getting noise cancelling AirPods.

Loud, shouty women are just common as muck…

You will catch a few with that one

Does that apply to loud, shouty men too?

lol 😂 I know!
But I’m not being provocative. I’ve seen too many gobby, tiresome’ladies only’ lunches.

Very intrusive and very boring. Often, they are not very bright.

No. Only women. 🤣. ‘Screaming like banshees’ is another one. 🤣🤣🤣

Well, men don't do this, do they?

Yeah, I bet their messages are full of cry laughing emojis and they say 'lol' when no one has said anything funny too. Always a giveaway, no?

Men bellow, howl, roar or bray.

Women scream, shriek and wail.

Just go to restaurants where max table size is 6. No big groups. Generally more pleasant.

You would go to all that trouble, risk the police being called because you refused to pay for your food, type multiple bad reviews, make bookings and then cancel them (losing any deposit a table for 40 would often require)...just to further some personal crusade to make sure a woman behaving badly is treated as harshly as you imagine a man would be? Do you not think that may be crossing the line between agenda and obsession?

It wouldnt be much trouble, ideally you would decline the food and paying for it just as they were serving, or after you had nibbled just a tiny amount, they wouldnt be able to do much if the plates were still full and you had asked to be moved? The enquiries about booking them out for a large event, or multiple large events wouldnt need a deposit, they would be happy to give you all the details for free, then you could phone later and say that you have heard they allow drunken groups to grope their teenage staff so you wont be interested any more, the manager will pay attention to that even if they don`t directly acknowledge it.

Was in a Wetherspoons this morning for a quick breakfast (11am). There was a big group of men (probably on a stag) all drinking alcohol and were ridiculously loud, just by shouting over to each other. The barmaid couldn't hear me and I had to shout my order.. I sat at the other end of the large pub and could still hear them. God knows how loud they'll be later on. Felt sorry for the bar staff, I couldn't hear myself think when I was stood at the bar.

The issue is groups of people drinking alcohol, not realising/caring how intrusively loud they're being. Particularly in a restaurant though you expect a bit of decorum. Pubs, not so much.

I agree, and it's disappointing that some posters on this thread think this kind of behavious is OK.

I went to a very enjoyable and rowdy dinner recently, BUT we were in a friend's (large, detached) house and no-one else would have heard us. We had an absolute hoot. We wouldn't have been this rowdy in a restaurant.

@User135644 You went to a Wetherspoons and expected quiet?

No, I didn't expect anything, just reminded me of this thread how loud a table of people can be when alcohol is on the go.

At 11am in the morning I didn't account for it though. I go in that Wethers a fair bit and it's usually fairly reasonable.

I think gobshite pisspots are quite standard in any Wetherspoons I've ever been to. They tend to attract all of the local alcoholics due to the early opening times.

And the cheap pints, you can get 2.50 a pint or less in the smaller towns around the UK, that is going to encourage people to sit all day and drink. The Stag party had probably been on it all night, that is why they were loud.

I often refer to men as males too. Talk about pedantic. Good grief....I was following on from an earlier post who God forbid used the word female. 😳 Bet everyone has to walk on eggshells around you. 🥺

Nice gaslighting there.

It doesn't matter how many times you say it's ok, or try to insult me for my opinion. Words have meanings and it's bad form to refer to "men and females".

Not sure where you are, but I go to my local wetherspoons for the quiet, because they don't play (shitty, loud) music.

Alright Mrs Bucket, you can get back under your bridge now

South East. But I have been to a few Spoons here and there over the years and whilst there is no music it's always been a racket. Not somewhere I'd pick for quiet really, but I'd only hop by one for a quick drink anyway.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s not that I don’t want them to have fun, but I too always seem to be sat near them and it drives me absolutely crazy. One woman last night, almost gave me a heart attack it was so loud. It’s obnoxious.
