To be haunted by this (Israel/Hamas)

The second picture, of the little girl sitting on her mother’s (I presume) knee. My DD is a similar age and I can’t get it out of my head. I just hope she got out of the situation and is ok. This country has its problems but bloody hell, when you think what other people in the world are going through, we are all so lucky to live here.

Israel shares horrific October 7 footage as it denies genocide charge

MailOnline has exclusively obtained the sickening video shown to the ICJ as judges are due to make an interim ruling on alleged genocide on Friday at The Hague.

I'm haunted by the thought of children starving due to the man-made famine in Gaza. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/01/16/middleeast/gaza-famine-starvation-un-israel-war-intl-hnk/index.html

Look at this photo again. It is clearly staged; the people behind the children begging for food, are taking no notice whatsoever. If everyone was starving, that woman would be alongside the kids.

Well not to butt in or anything, but Islamophobia and the occupation have also been around a very long time.

Good thing I didn't say otherwise then.

Gotta love the cuddly language used by Israel. A female Palestinian prisoner hostage was released during the truce. She had been held since she was 16 and is now 32. Her crime had been to fight back when Israeli settlers invaded her village.

talking of Settlers: case in point. SETTLERS. Not thieves. Palestinians traditionally wear the key to the house stolen from them by these criminals for the rest of their lives.

The question wasn’t aimed at me but when I say Israel I mean everyone within the population (and beyond) complicit in the terrorising and mass murder of Palestinians since 1948.

There are many Israelis and Jewish people who have visited Israel and seen the reality who tirelessly protest and fight against the Israeli occupation.

So not "Israel", then, because you're not talking about everyone in Israel, and actually you might be talking about some people who aren't in Israel? Christ almighty -this is Discrimination 101, my friend. If you don't mean that everyone in Israel is to blame, don't say "Israel". Be clear about who you're talking about. I'm a Jewish person with friends and family in Israel who is passionately against settlements, the destruction of Gaza and the attacks on civilians on October 7th. Use language that means that I can agree with you politically on Palestine without condoning discrimination against an entire people on the basis of their passport.

The good old "staged" claim. I don't think they need to resort to staging photos when there is footage coming out of Palestine nonstop of what is occuring in real time.

I have sympathy for any innocent civilians who is held hostage.

what I don’t understand is why we automatically believe stories from one side and not another? If a woman says she has been raped, I believe her.

As the iOf have repeatedly come out with false, disgustingly vile lies. By the time the truth is out it is too late ~ the damage has been done. Which is what they aim for. Hence some people still believing some of the horrendous lies and thinking it actually took place.

They lie nonstop which has been proven time and time again. It is the same with any liar ~ it becomes somewhat more and more difficult to believe anything particularly when they have lied about some of the most vile things.

That is why it is so hard to believe anything. Posting footage from an old production (which had nothing to do with Israel/Palestine/anything current) and claiming on Twitter that it was the here and now is not what you would expect, or hope, from a government official. The lies goes all the way to the very top.

I think that would be a bit of a long one to post every single time. People do tend to use the one word when discussing other countries and it is not met with such accusations as this. It has been explained what has been meant and I agreed with this particular post as it summed it up for me as well.

Oh, well, if it's too much trouble to take the time to use language that might produce more of a consensus

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 30/01/2024 14:56

I mean, this thread is peppered with people saying "And don't you feel any sympathy with..." because the poster they're responding to hasn't set out a massive recital explaining the totality of their views on every issue and apparently we can't assume that people who are currently talking about Palestinian children might also have some feeling for Israeli children and vice versa

You said Israel are the terrorists. Which kind of implies Hamas aren't.

But you're right , October the 7th didn't come out of nowhere. Antisemitism has been around for thousands of years.

Way to try to brush over what Israel has been doing to the Palestinian people for all of these years....

If Hamas was really stealing money then I think that the rockets they propel into Israel would land with more of a bang. It is the old common line ~ Hamas steals aid/Hamas would steal aid. Which is one of the so-called reasons some vile people are blocking much needed aid from crossing over. Along with the openly vile announcements of wanting to starve them so that they will move.

I don't think Hamas is bothered with women's hygiene products. Or baby nappies.

Are you seriously suggesting that you think Hamas haven't been embezzling funds? And do you really believe that they haven't been siphoning off fuel supplies for their paramilitary forces?

DdraigGoch · 30/01/2024 15:50

@Yasai you mean that she was a combatant? In which case she is not comparable to someone attending a music festival or a family of subsistence farmers.

Hamas know the way their sympathisers work, that's exactly why they send kids to throw stones at IDF forces in order to goad them into a response. It works wonders for their propaganda.

Hmmmmaybe · 30/01/2024 15:50

@DdraigGoch quite

Hamas has totally and utterly failed to look after its civilian population

it instigated the war in the first place, it places military operations in key civilian centres, including hospitals and schools, and takes aid and money.

i find it extraordinary that Israel is held to a higher account than gazas own government

Honestly I have tried to remain polite, but it’s honestly black mirror madness trying to debate on this topic.

If a nutcase from Brooklyn tried to steal my home with my children inside I would fight back.

”kids goading them”? Kids?! 😂😂

I’m backing out of this conversation now.

Free Palestine. This is some of the maddest shit I have ever seen in my life.

Yet more attempts at dehumanising a Palestinian person. Plenty have been locked away simply due to resisting being assaulted by illegal settlers.

Are these females meant to not try to resist?

Your post is full of false propaganda. You are also attempting to pretend that this only begun in October. Palestine has been under seige for countless years.

BackandForthRoundandRound · 05/02/2024 20:48

I see you are back yet again...

You seem to have a bit of an issue with me today going by the amount of previous posts you have made accusing of all sorts.

My post was in response to another post ~ as is the norm on here. Stating that the hostages were declared as being in decent health (by doctors when they were released) and not attacked (like what some other posters had been trying to claim)

You are deliberately taking a post out of context completely. As you did with my post earlier today that you have repeatedly posted about under different usernames.

Februaryfeels · 05/02/2024 20:49

@sallazaar That's a very interesting post that you e responded to there

They just murdered, raped and kidnapped innocent people.

Evidence?
videos?
seriously, a link to one video please? Make sure you don’t send a Palestinian genocide video by mistake as they are everywhere and you can’t miss them.
Don’t get me started on the fact that Netan ya hu is carpet bombing all the places their hostages could be and clearly stated he doesn’t want them back.

i do not condemn death on either side. All death of innocents is wrong. There is just an awful lot of ignorance and both conscious and subconscious racism here .

Am I reading this right? You want posters to send you videos of Hamas fighters murdering, raping and kidnapping Israelis? Or else you won't believe it happened?

I mean, there's plenty of footage about of people being dragged away, not to mention the gunshots as people hid from the massacres. Frankly the constant 'pics or it didn't happen' demands for snuff videos are repulsive.
