Horrendous pain in my side, but otherwise feel fine?

Not sure if I’m being a total hypochondriac at all, but today I woke up drenched in sweat with some pain in my upper left abdomen, right under my ribs. I’ve felt okay all day, eating and drinking normally, no vomiting, but the pain has been worsening to the point even slightly moving makes it worse. It also hurts when touching the area. I’ve not been injured or done anything that could have caused this pain, and it doesn’t feel muscular. I’ve literally just been in tears with it!

I called the doctor earlier and the receptionist said there were no appointments and to try to call back tomorrow. The pain is bad but because I am otherwise okay in myself I’d feel stupid going to A&E. But I also don’t know if I can wait until
the morning!

Any advice?!

Could it be diverticulitis?

Hope you are better soon 💐

I was wondering this. Hope it's not. My mums was diagnosed via a mri as a side finding on static nerve pain

Apolloneuro · 25/01/2024 23:33

I was thinking diverticulitis as well. That can be very painful.

Nctaxq · 26/01/2024 01:26

I have an answer - it’s a stomach ulcer!

That's great news!!! Not great great obviously, but I'm so happy you have an answer!

Do they have a treatment plan?

HollaHolla · 26/01/2024 01:36

Oh my word. You’ve definitely been through the wringer. I do hope you’ve got a treatment plan for the ulcer, and the pain calms down soon.

Good job you went back, fobbing you off with norovirus, hope you begin to feel better now.

determinedtomakethiswork · 26/01/2024 10:09

I'm really surprised that you have a stomach ulcer. I've had one and I didn't have any of the symptoms you had.

Oh op what a nightmare you’ve had bless you. I’m happy to hear you’ve got an answer though. I would email pals about your situation, I can’t believe you were fobbed off with it’s viral. I’m sure 99% of the time viral means ‘we don’t know/can’t be bothered’

@scaredofff My DH had many health problems, and every time a test came back negative, he'd say "I don't want to know what I haven't got, I want to know what I have got". Medical staff seem to think you'll be happy if they say "well, it's not so-and-so".
