Is it me or is Amanda Holden a total narcissist? (I know that word gets thrown around a lot on here but I think she absolutely is one). What kind of mother wants to be centre of attention at her DD’s 18th Birthday bash? Confused
Poor Lexi.

So aibu?

Amanda Holden stuns in sequin co-ord at daughter Lexi's 18th birthday

The radio presenter, 52, pulled out all the stops to celebrate her eldest child's milestone birthday.

Yup all women are in competition with each other and jealous of other women - even their daughters (in misogyny land) .

Women over 30 should not drink/dance/have fun

It's okay to dis/hate/say nasty things about women you don't know because it's cool

It really annoys me, how in this day and age, women still do this to each other. It’s appalling. And smacks of jealousy.

Why start at thread just to slag off Holden for having a laugh at her daughters party, I’m sure if her kid didn’t want her there she’d not have went, and to then take it to the level she must be jealous of her own daughter is just shit behaviour. And says everything about the poster and nothing about Holden and her kids relationships.

im no fan of Holden, but I respect she appears to have a strong relationship with her kids and I can’t even imagine attacking her on something as silly and made up as she must be jealous of her own child.

Gosh, all I think about when I see that video is AMANDA TELL ME ALL YOUR SECRETS. I'd love to look like that now and I'm not even 40. She seems to have a lovely relationship with her children.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to celebrate with your friends separately from your family. It does not mean you do not value your parents

I love my mum to bits but a party animal she is not. And she did not need to be present to hold my hair back in the sticky club on my 18th birthday to know I love her and value her.

You have no idea if the daughter also celebrated with her mates separately or if Amanda left early. No idea at all.

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/01/2024 15:51

On this occasion, I think yabu.AH is just trying to get the party moving, invites an older person to the dance floor (idk who that is) etc. She’s just having fun rather than trying to completely be the centre of attention. If she did this for every dance, that is different.

Dweetfidilove · 21/01/2024 15:51

What a load of shit!

She looks like she’s having a good old time, gets the crowd going, then passes the mike along.

Her daughter seems happy enough and as for the ‘her daughter is prettier than her’, well she’s younger too, so 🤷🏽‍♀️.

The article and thread smack of ‘old bores with mommy issues’ 🥱.

I think I would’ve died of embarrassment if my mum had come to my 18th Birthday party, let alone made herself centre of attention like it was her 18th.

And yes her DD’s are much prettier than her, bet she hates that!

Edited

Why are you saying things like this about a woman you don’t know?

Twonewcats · 21/01/2024 15:52

She's doing karaoke. How is that attention seeking?

Her figure is incredible and she looks better than she did 20 years ago - I think she must exercise constantly and eat very healthily to maintain that figure!

Shania7788 · 21/01/2024 15:53

I would’ve been mortified. Haven’t seen the video but in those photos it looks like the teenagers are loving it and her daughter looks happy enough. I probably would’ve enjoyed attending that party as an 18 year old if she was my friend’s mum but not mine

KarenNotAKaren · 21/01/2024 15:54

I also like that she stays very slim but doesn’t promote an unhealthy lifestyle (looking at you Gwyneth Paltrow!)

edissa · 21/01/2024 14:48

I disagree. I think Amanda is absolutely stunning and I hope I look that good at 52! I'm only 38 and she looks better than I do 😂

She looks awful and fake

Nonomono · 21/01/2024 15:55

YANBU but I think a lot of celebs or wanna be celebs are.

I saw Kim Ks Instagram post of her DDs birthday and every photo was of the girl and Kim posing.
Her sisters put up similar photos but some had just the child in or just the child with others, whereas Kims seemed more about her than the kid.

I also watch a TV programme where the dad is the same and every birthday or wedding has to revolve around him in some way.

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/01/2024 15:56

To add to my post, I have generally a good relationship with my 15 yo dd and her friends. I definitely would like to be the mum to do this too, am fatter than AH and my health is not so good but maybe...

Dh is also good fun. I want to be a bit trendier with dd and have started to listen to radio 1xtra. I was too ill to listen to music until recently but I’m liking the music. Dh has always listened to rap etc. So we both know some of the music already and if dd wants to have a party for her 18th, we will be there. 🕺

Lampzade · 21/01/2024 15:56

The comments about her daughter being prettier are uncalled for. Just plain nasty imo
Tbh, AH strikes me as someone who would be thrilled with the fact that her daughters are regarded as ‘prettier’ than her.

TheaBrandt · 21/01/2024 15:57

Also do any of you criticisers actually have teens? The lines between the generations are more blurred now than when we were teens. As AH is a celebrity I bet her Dd and friends would be thrilled she was there. I have a Dd of th oohs age and friends of hers have celebrity parents and the teens are pleased to have them at their parties.

I usually think the “you are jealous” retort is quite lame but it definitely applies on this thread.

Just because you feel insecure and unhappy about your own looks, doesn’t mean you should bash another woman’s looks to make yourself feel better 😘

What would looking good at 52 look to you if Amanda Holden looks ‘awful’

I hope you have plenty of money to match for all the facial work she’s had.

mydogisthebest · 21/01/2024 15:57

She is so full of herself it is untrue. Always wants to be centre of attention.

She is attractive but the awful overinflated pouty lips are pathetic

TheaBrandt · 21/01/2024 15:58

Also if your Dd is prettier than you aren’t most mothers thrilled about that?! The accusation of her being jealous is very weird and says more about the person saying it than AH.

Dominoeffecter · 21/01/2024 15:58

I bet her daughter loves her so your unpleasant thread doesn’t really matter

futurelooksbright · 21/01/2024 15:59

Of course she's a narcissist- many, many people in showbiz are- the attention is what attracts them along with total entitlement and lack of insecurity

Exactly. One of my 15 yo dd’s friends wants me to go on holiday with her and dd when they’re older. I’ve told her I’ll cramp their style. 😂 But it’s sweet…

PiggieWig · 21/01/2024 15:59

It’s just spun this way because she’s the famous one. Sounds like she was having a laugh with her daughter and her mates

stayathomer · 21/01/2024 15:59

While I wouldn’t do it myself, when you’re out at a family do you do get dressed up and let your hair down, it’s only a thing because she’s Amanda Holden (and yes the word narcissist is thrown around too much!!) if it bothers her kids it’ll only be because the papers drew attention to it and made people think she was drawing attention to herself (as opposed to having a laugh at her daughter’s birthday)
