Is it me or is Amanda Holden a total narcissist? (I know that word gets thrown around a lot on here but I think she absolutely is one). What kind of mother wants to be centre of attention at her DD’s 18th Birthday bash? Confused
Poor Lexi.

So aibu?

Amanda Holden stuns in sequin co-ord at daughter Lexi's 18th birthday

The radio presenter, 52, pulled out all the stops to celebrate her eldest child's milestone birthday.

The thing is, if your Mum was a famous face who had been in Britain’s Got Talent for years and was best mates with Simon Cowell and Alan Carr, all your friends from school would know this and they’d expect her to be at the party, it’s just like a celeb doing a PA.

I used to find her irritating but after seeing her with Alan on the show about the Italian house renovation, I think she’s fabulous. She’s funny, tough as old boots and kind to Alan. I’d love to go for a drink with her.

Thank God women aged over 50 don’t have to behave like our Mums anymore.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 21/01/2024 16:00

I think Amanda does send herself up a bit. Yes, she does look glam and amazing and if that makes her happy, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

BlueGrey1 · 21/01/2024 16:03

I think maybe she was trying to get the party going and bring some life to it.

My uncle ( 72 with pacemaker) was out on the dance floor most of the night at his daughters wedding, it could have looked like he was trying to be the centre of attention but all he was trying to do was bring more life to the event and encourage other to dance and enjoy themselves

Lovelyjubbbly · 21/01/2024 16:03

Look at all these jealous and bitchy comments 😂😂😂😂 ‘ her daughters are pritty than her bet she hates that’ GROW UP!

Ulysees · 21/01/2024 16:03

AH looks hot imo. Good for her.

Her dd is the spitting image of Holly Willoughby.

User1775 · 21/01/2024 15:07

I am utterly baffled by people not attending their own child's 18th?? Why? Did they not invite you? Were you not hurt?

Not at all.
DD had a party for her friends and a separate celebration with family in a restaurant.

I had no desire to shake my stuff with a load of 18 year olds but was happy to pay for it.

SingleMum11 · 21/01/2024 16:04

This is such a horrible thread. Just a load of bitching about another woman for no good reason other than to spread some hate around.

Edited

I'll come too as long as they sell real ale 🍻

JayAlfredPrufrock · 21/01/2024 16:06

My DDs 18th was held at home. She shouted for me to come down and join in the dancing when one of my favourite songs came on 🤷‍♀️

You have no idea if the daughter also celebrated with her mates separately or if Amanda left early. No idea at all.

My post has nothing to do with amanda I was replying to a judgemental poster accusing people who had parties without their parents of not valuing them. Actually read the full post

Zone2NorthLondon · 21/01/2024 16:07

Amanda is famous for being famous and some schlocky media gigs. Of course she’ll shimmy at a party
Of course it’ll be in the DM. Of course someone on MN is aghast. Mumsnet and the daily mail are closely entwined. MN posters link the DM and they inevitably protest they don't read the mail, just, umm, posting, yes posting for reference….oh yeah
Was her daughter put out? None of us genuinely no. Maybe? Or perhaps her daughter just thought there’s mum doing her thang(again)
So frankly I don’t care
Amanda career is maintenance of her image and brand , this is what she does
The rest of us have to do CPD and death by PowerPoint

Jioyt · 21/01/2024 16:07

Were you at the party? Centre of attention would require her to draw attention to herself for a whole lot longer than the few minutes (if that) in the video that was posted.

I thi k OP you're the one with a problem. Maybe it's that you're unhappy and like to tear down people who are just getting on with their lives and don't even know you exist.

dayswithaY · 21/01/2024 16:09

@Ulysees I’m sure Mandy would approve!

Exactly, it's bizarre to be hurt by not being invited to your child's celebration with friends.

By 18 your child will be doing lots of things without you. They are welcome to have an 18th without their parents, you can't be hurt by your child not inviting you to things with their friends.

It's not like the party is the only way they will celebrate their birthday. I assume that they too would celebrate with their parents/family too. It doesn't have to be the same occasion

Blanice · 21/01/2024 16:12

I think it’s funny in a light hearted way.

The daughter does roll her eyes when the mic is being passed around so if this has annoyed her then that’s not great.

Castlerock44 · 21/01/2024 16:12

egowise · 21/01/2024 14:43

Woman dares enjoy herself shocker!

Or maybe just make it about her daughter instead of herself. I'm sure she regularly enjoys herself.

Sallyingon · 21/01/2024 16:14

They look.like they're happy and having a laugh and they're all gorgeous..good on them, you rotters

ScribblingPixie · 21/01/2024 16:15

I really like Amanda Holden. She seems to come from a family that loves to look and feel glam and have a lot of fun. Her mother looks amazing. And she's obviously passed it on to her daughter too. I can't imagine her wasting any of her life slagging off other women on the internet either.

NoMoreFalafelsForYou · 21/01/2024 16:17

@trippily
She's a happy mum, enjoying her daughter's 18th with her? You sound fucking nuts tbh. I could not have this much vitriol and made up spiteful headcannon for someone I'd never met

This
Mum enjoying herself having a dance, how very dare she 🙄

CompletedNetflix · 21/01/2024 16:20

The party would have gone on for hours presumably. Amanda Holden took up a few minutes singing and having a laugh, which her daughter seemed to enjoy. I don’t see the issue.

Notallmilsarebad · 21/01/2024 16:21

I don’t like Amanda Holden and would be the first to criticise her, but surely she’s just having a good time at her daughter’s party here?!

Quaversandjam · 21/01/2024 16:22

Agree it's disgusting, superficial, behaviour from a woman her age.

Why wasn't she wearing a patterned wrap dress, with one foot forward and her hand on her hip?

Whilst pulling a DM sad face, whilst having her name attached to a major news story.

Major news is defined by:

  1. This random object causes/prevents cancer.
  1. My house price went down, it used to be £234,567 and now it is £234, 424.
  1. Meghan and Harry once breathed and that caused poverty and destruction.
  1. I worked from home and 1,2 and 3 all happened. And I put on 5 stone too.
CompletedNetflix · 21/01/2024 16:30

I actually don’t mind her normally, I just thought it was a really weird thing to do and I felt sorry for her DD having to share the attention with her mother.

Fucking hell. My children wouldn’t feel that way, I bet this girl doesn’t either. What an odd thing to think. Do you have shit relationships with your kids or something? They all looked like they were having a laugh, that’s nice. Hopefully they have a close mum/daughter relationship. Not all teens hate or are embarrassed of their parents. I think this says a lot about you and your issues.

Butternutsqoosh · 21/01/2024 16:31

I've met AH and she is absolutely lovely, funny to chat to and is kind and friendly - I'd do the same at my kids parties I'm sure 😂

LondonLass91 · 21/01/2024 16:31

What are you lot on?!?! She is having a good time at her daughter's birthday! A few drinks, a sing song, and trying to start a conga. Bloody hell, talk about fun police!!
