To think there shouldn't be measles outbreaks?

fatandhappy47 · 20/01/2024 06:39

Surely we shouldn't be having an issue with measles?
Had an email from school (secondary) 'reminding' us to keep kids off with measles, which got me thinking

All my kids band my friends kids of the same age had their MMR (however my youngest did get measles before this)

So why is it an issue in secondary schools of all places? Are people just not vaccinating their kids?

Sorry if that wasn't clear.

well no. far from it. you lost “faith in covid jab” as a result of the canadian government responding to something you now think is wrong

I meant in terms of numbers - for most of my patients who won't vaccinate, this isn't the issue.

You may not see it first hand but if you check out all the information regarding the outbreak you will see for yourself how it’s a big factor in the outbreak. Speaking of anti vax I think it’s all pretty even across the board.

You clearly have me confused with another poster. Please provide a link to the post where you think I've said that.

Why is my opinion bollocks? Seizures are known side effects of high temps, and high temps are known side effects of many childhood vaccines. Seizures can also lead to brain damage. Signs and symptoms of brain damage are vastly varying as are signs and symptoms of autism.

Just because it shows a complete lack of understanding of every medical step in your proposed pathway.

If people are prepared to put their child’s life at risk because they lost faith in a different product altogether, it begs the question, are they adult enough to have children? You wouldn’t stop eating peas because cauliflowers were bad!

Agree - not vaccinating should be a child protection issue. It's neglect.

Except that they were aimed at the wrong person, forcing me to refute you for no reason. Perhaps a bit more care on your part is called for.

Katemax82 · 22/01/2024 20:27

my DSS is staunchly anti vax and hasnt had his 2 vaccinated. its people like him who are causing this

calm down.

I was repeatedly referencing the trucker quote, which you didn’t say.

Surprised that didn’t ring alarm bells with you tbh!

ManhattanNY · 22/01/2024 20:34

@regenerate

Why do you keep @ me? I don’t owe you an explanation. If that’s the way I feel about what happened during the pandemic that’s the way I feel.

I told you that numerous events during Covid broke my trust in the government and to a certain degree the health service, and I believe that’s why vaccination rates have dropped. The truckers were just one example.

Even if I’m completely wrong about the truckers and I may be, it doesn’t change the fact that for many people, the optics/SM meant trust was broken. That’s the problem.

Yet you continue like a dog with a bone, to try and turn this into a huge debate about the truckers and the validity of freezing their accounts. I personally don’t think it was right. You have explained you do think it was right. Ok, fair enough. Great. Let’s go with they deserved it. Let’s go with everyone is stupid, they’ve listened to conspiracy theories on the internet, we are all brainless idiots…PEOPLE STILL LOST TRUST. And you can argue your point until you’re blue in the face and it’s not going to change that fact.

So I’ll make my point one last time for you, and then I have better things to do…

For many reasons during the pandemic people lost trust in government agencies and I think that has a lot to do with lower vaccination rates. I think this, because I feel this myself. When trust is broken, it’s hard to get back.

I have nothing else to say on the matter, so best wishes.

regenerate · 22/01/2024 20:36

you said you lost your faith in the covid vaccine once the truckers had their bank accounts frozen.

transpires the Canadian government threatened to freeze the bank accounts of thousands of truckers blocking the vaccine from entering Canada to be administered to citizens desperate for the vaccine

It did, which is why I posted the link to where it was actually said, by someone else.

As I said, it was one of at least THREE examples I gave of things that led me to lose trust. I only listed three because I didn’t have time to list the many more.

Rightly or wrongly, things like the three examples I gave, caused a loss of trust, which is what this threat is about.

Heres what I said…

regenerate · 22/01/2024 20:40

@ManhattanNY spouting misinformation. That is why i tagged you

There are few good reasons to freeze a person’s bank account, but simply protesting a mandated vaccine is not a good one

There were not protesting.
They were blocking the vaccine from entering the country to be administered to citizens who wanted it.
There is a difference

Go for it. I really couldn’t care less. I tried to explain why Covid affected my distrust in vaccinations. People like you do nothing to improve the situation. You just can’t accept mistakes were made.

So what’s the point.

People like you post daft things and then shy away saying “oh it was only one of a number of reasons”

So you accept the one i did explore was a load of nonsense. Well at least that’s good

Critical thinking skills need to be taught in schools because generally as a population, people are more stupid than we realise.

There was a post just last week of someone who had been “researching” on the internet aka just positively reinforcing their opinion by only googling and finding certain videos/websites.

This. I despair sometimes.

Even on this thread there are parents saying that they went for single vaccinations as if giving their DC nine vaccinations when three would have done the job is morally superior.

I mean at least their DC had the vaccines. Eventually. But in a more painful way and over a longer timeframe thus delaying their protection.
