Child on trampoline in the rain

If you looked out of your window and saw the child next door to you, in the pouring rain, running in the garden and jumping on the trampoline, what would you think?

I haven’t read through the thread.
I would think they were just having fun.

Parentofeanda · 18/01/2024 16:36

That kids are strange. Because they are. They aren't phased by a bit of rain o_0

HMW1906 · 18/01/2024 16:41

That they’re not made of salt and will be absolutely fine. 🤷‍♀️ We regularly go out for the day in pouring rain. That’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices!

mellyinthenorth · 18/01/2024 16:41

Dry trampoline = electric shocks. Wet trampoline = no electric shocks. My child prefers a wet trampoline....

Maddy70 · 18/01/2024 16:42

I would think that's a kid and parent that doesn't give a fuck what their nosy neighbours think and they are having fun anyway

CandyCaneLane0 · 18/01/2024 16:42

My ds loves playing in the rain. Tell your neighbour to mind her own business

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/01/2024 16:44

I would be desperately worried that they might melt and seep through all of the little holes 😱

Tittyfilarious81 · 18/01/2024 16:46

Id smile and think its great that they are allowed to play out in the rain , my kids loved playing in the rain ☺️

LakeWoebegon · 18/01/2024 16:47

Feral

Am I the only one who read the title as "Child on a trampoline in a train" and was thinking " Who took a trampoline onto a train?"

Patrickiscrazy · 18/01/2024 16:50

I wouldn't think much, OP. When I was a kid, we used to do far more outside than jumping on a trampoline in the rain and we were all good.

That they looked like they were having a great time, and I wish we still had a trampoline. The last two had to be removed from nearby trees after strong wind. 🙁

Thegoodbadandugly · 18/01/2024 17:09

Your not supposed to wear shoes on a trampoline and also being wet it would be slippy therefore more risk of an accident that's what would worry me.

18 degrees where we are, but heavy rain. Child in wellies, leggings, puffa jacket with hood up.

I loved playing in the rain as a child. It was Scotland; rained often and was a lot colder too Smile.

I'd probably watch this child playing in the rain, feeling deeply envious of her!

Thethingspeoplegetupto · 18/01/2024 17:13

@WhereYouLeftIt Yes, I felt that too…sad how we lose that as we grow up isn’t it

I wouldn’t have thought anything until my dc broke their ankle on a trampoline and now I can’t look.

GlasgowGal82 · 18/01/2024 17:20

Children are waterproof, and can also wear waterproof clothing for additional protection from the rain. I used to encourage mine to get togged up and go out on the trampoline in the rain because it's a great way to burn off some energy and have some fun, but unfortunately they are no longer interested in doing this.

Coffeeandcatsforlife · 18/01/2024 17:25

My children will happily play on the trampoline in the rain-old trainers, waterproof trousers and old coats etc-they love it.

LanaL · 18/01/2024 17:26

I would think that the child wanted to play outside and their parent knows that rain is just water , not acid , so let them

Coffeeandcatsforlife · 18/01/2024 17:30

Just read the rest of your messsges OP-yeah some people are really weird with children being out in the rain-they will catch a cold 🙄 or die! I will always run a bath for them for when they are done and make a hot chocolate like you. During lockdown the trampoline was a god send in all weathers. My children go on it when it’s covered in snow too. Ignore your neighbour, she’s a silly sausage!

Kwam31 · 18/01/2024 17:37

I have to laugh at the vague reply of 'Southern Europe', you can just say Italy etc 🤣

duckpancakes · 18/01/2024 17:40

As long as there's a safety net I'd think nothing of it

Isitautumnyet23 · 18/01/2024 17:46

If they were dressed for playing outdoors in the rain in Winter, no problem and I imagine they are just a child that loves the outdoors (obviously Summer rain wouldn’t matter about clothes).

If they were not properly dressed for playing outside in freezing rain and temperatures like today, then i’d be concerned.

fetchacloth · 18/01/2024 17:49

Kids love being outside whatever the weather, even rain.
However on a day as cold as this (2 degrees C here) if the child was still outside alone more than an hour or so I would be wondering why.

Staygoldponyboystaygold · 18/01/2024 17:50

I would think how lovely it was to see a child having fun in the rain. It’s so wonderful to see children find joy in the things we dislike, it gives me a different perspective.

My dc would all play in the rain, often creating mud which they would then be covered in. It builds resilience. We do have a mud room though so they could strip off there and head straight for the bath.

They will come in soon enough if they’re cold.
