Child on trampoline in the rain

If you looked out of your window and saw the child next door to you, in the pouring rain, running in the garden and jumping on the trampoline, what would you think?

I’d think “ wow, so children don’t melt in the rain after all - who knew ?”!

saffy2 · 19/01/2024 18:16

I’d think great they are enjoying the outside and fun physical activities in all weathers. My kids are outside on our trampoline in all weathers. We are v outdoorsy and do the 1000 hours outdoors challenge every year, and my daughter before school started she attended an outdoor Forest pre school 5 hours a day, even in the snow.
the outdoors is great for kids, and different weathers is also good for them.

NoDought · 19/01/2024 18:19

I’d think they’re going to grow up to be a resilient adult who doesn’t let bad weather put them off getting outside and getting exercise.

cansu · 19/01/2024 18:21

Nothing much. I might think they could slip and hurt themselves but presumably they have a parent who has decided this risk is OK. I would mind my own business.

ElectricEms · 19/01/2024 18:25

If it was my child (and it has been) I'd be hoping my neighbour wasn't judging me.

montessorinanny · 19/01/2024 18:25

I would think how wonderful and refreshing it is to see a child out in the rain playing. I grew up in Australia and we always played in the rain! Only thunder, lightning and cyclonic winds made us stay inside!

CWigtownshire · 19/01/2024 18:30

They're having fun. They're not sugar, they don't melt in the rain!

MumTeacherofMany · 19/01/2024 18:36

I wouldn't acknowledge it

My Dc

I was stood at the back door watching her and smiling to myself (trying to suppress the small inner worry about her potentially slipping on the trampoline and just let her *Be)
When I overheard the next door neighbour exclaiming to her teenage son at how I could let a child out in this weather and how she would get ill etc etc

She’s an idiot.

rosyAndMoo · 19/01/2024 18:56

My cousins children are autistic and sensory seekers, they would do this! So long as they aren’t locked out in the rain and can go inside as soon as they need to, it’s fine. Let children be.

Tebheag · 19/01/2024 19:50

Mine regularly did. They where happy and safe with nets round also got changed into dry clothes straight after.

OldPerson · 19/01/2024 19:52

How is the child dressed? Wearing a coat or soaked to the skin? Does the child look happy and/or full of energy?

Bythefireside · 19/01/2024 20:15

Slippery trampolines are really dangerous. A friend of my child broke their femur on one and was in traction in hospital for about a month. No issue at all with being out in the rain just not on a trampoline.

VerbenaGirl · 19/01/2024 20:17

Fine. Kids like rain. We grow out of thinking it’s okay.

MammaPenny · 19/01/2024 20:24

As the mother of a little boy who LOVES to bounce on the trampoline, I’d be happy to see the child happy 🥰
As my dad always says, “the rain won’t hurt you, I’ve never seen a rusty man yet anyway!”

Zerosleep · 19/01/2024 20:40

I would mind my own business. Especially if they are usually extremely well cared for and loved.

thesugarbumfairy · 19/01/2024 21:31

I would feel a bit sad because it would remind me of my youngest who, whilst still a young teen, doesn't go out and get filthy and wet for the joy of it any more. And I miss it!

brentwoods · 19/01/2024 21:37

I'd think she had a lovely mum who understood how fun it is to play in the rain.

cherish123 · 19/01/2024 21:38

Nothing wrong with that. I'll bet it was fun!

Soaked is fine as long as they can get warm and dry after. A coat is pretty pointless on a wet trampoline, even if it's waterproof they will still be wet from landing on their knees or bum.

MdNdD · 19/01/2024 21:45

Wish my kids would get out from under a blanket and play outside! How wonderful for that child!!

JoBrandsCleaner · 19/01/2024 21:46

I’d think, ‘oh no they might slip’ but then I’m a weirdo about things like that

Mumaway · 19/01/2024 21:55

I would think he was a happy child with happy parents. Humans are waterproof and he can go indoors to get warm and dry

WellManneredFrivolity · 19/01/2024 22:56

That my son was out in the garden on the trampoline as per, regardless of weather, also in shorts and t-shirt, again regardless of the weather

Retiredfromearlyyears · 20/01/2024 08:32

I would think! There's a child that is high on life! Wish I could still do that!!! 😆
