Child on trampoline in the rain

If you looked out of your window and saw the child next door to you, in the pouring rain, running in the garden and jumping on the trampoline, what would you think?

OP posts:
Jk987 · 18/01/2024 13:12

I'd think good on her, she's having a great time and burning off some energy! She's not using bad weather as a reason to be stuck in doors all day. I'd think her parents don't molly coddle her.

MonkeyPuddle · 18/01/2024 13:12

I would hope they didn’t turn an ankle as it’s easier when the trampoline is wet, and then get on with my day.

FLOWER1982 · 18/01/2024 13:12

We will not disintegrate in the rain!

Magnalux · 18/01/2024 13:13

I’d think, great to see kids outdoors and not afraid of a bit of rain.

Catza · 18/01/2024 13:13

I'd think "what a fabulous way to spend the afternoon"
But no doubt someone will be around to suggest reporting to social services.

Stephne3 · 18/01/2024 13:14

It would remind of the time I asked to play out in the garden in the very heavily pouring rain as a child and had an amazing time and then obviously as nice was bath when got in. During lockdown one of my toddlers favourite activities was to go into the garden during the rain and jump up and down in the puddle in the tuff tray. They virtually lived outside in their puddle suits, the parks (once they were open) were full of families even on a wet winters day as kids a lot happier doing that than cooped up inside

tinytemper66 · 18/01/2024 13:14

What do you think OP?

TheFormidableMrsC · 18/01/2024 13:14

My son used to love his in the rain. I would think "you're going to get wet" but they come in when they're ready 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cas112 · 18/01/2024 13:15

As long as they had a coat on I wouldn't think twice

SomeCatFromJapan · 18/01/2024 13:16

I'd think they were enjoying themselves.

AgnesX · 18/01/2024 13:16

That their mother was at the point where her child playing in the rain was the least of her problems.....

kelsaecobbles · 18/01/2024 13:16

Newsflash

Skin is waterproof

Exercise is good for you

Towels are a great invention

00100001 · 18/01/2024 13:16

That if there was standing water on the trampoline that it would be extremely dangerous.

Otherwise fine.

ManateeFair · 18/01/2024 13:16

I'd think 'Blimey, she's certainly an all-weather kid!' and then I'd think nothing more about it.

Are you the parent of the child or are you the nosy neighbour, OP?

VisionsOfSplendour · 18/01/2024 13:17

Nothing, why ?

existentialpain · 18/01/2024 13:17

My son did in the snow. I thought it was hilarious. He was having a great time.

Nothing more to it.

booktokbear · 18/01/2024 13:18

Sounds like you face a problem with it op (otherwise why post?)

My DS loves playing on it in the rain, or with the hose pipe in the summer.

Goldbar · 18/01/2024 13:19

I would think that I must remember to pop a note through the parents' door reminding them that trampolines are responsible for half of A&E admissions in young children. That would really rain on their parade!

Or... I wouldn't think anything and would just get on with my day.

orangesareorangey · 18/01/2024 13:19

God, all these responses of ‘it’s wonderful’, ‘it’s fine’ are such BS. All waiting with bated breath until someone dares to say it’d be concerning.

Clearly, it’d all very much depend on the wider context. If it was a child who otherwise I believed to be well cared for then I wouldn’t think anything of it at all. If I had even the remotest of concerns already about that child’s wellbeing (such as not being certain that they would be properly warmed up and redressed afterwards) then I’d be alarmed. Nothing happens in a vacuum, there’s always something else that informs our thoughts.

Please though, OP, tell us why you’ve posted something so bloody vague.

blackpanth · 18/01/2024 13:21

Nothing

Sahara123 · 18/01/2024 13:21

I’d think that looks fun . Presumably the child had decided to do this , what’s the harm. Mine used to go paddling in the sea in Scotland in March which would inevitably lead to a soaking. When they finally realised that they were cold we’d bomb up the beach to the car , towel and complete change of clothes at the ready then off for hot chocolate.

Dramasloth · 18/01/2024 13:23

In the rain and at -2 degrees? I’d think someone can’t be bothered

spongecakeappleslice · 18/01/2024 13:25

MonkeyPuddle · 18/01/2024 13:12

I would hope they didn’t turn an ankle as it’s easier when the trampoline is wet, and then get on with my day.

Same, hops they don’t slip and hurt themselves

RegimentalSturgeon · 18/01/2024 13:25

It would confirm my suspicion that the dozy lot next door haven’t got the sense to get out of the rain.

Hooplahooping · 18/01/2024 13:30

My two run around like mad dogs when it’s raining outside. Get utterly drenched. And then run inside screeching ‘I cant feel my toes’ like Donkey from shrek.

good excuse for warm towels and mid week hot choc…
