To ask you to show me your fridge?

Please!

I'm somewhat fascinated by people's fridges. Whenever I watched MTV cribs when younger I only cared about what was inside the fridges.

Anyone else like me?

I'll start with mine. (Yes I know it's not very well organised but I did a food shop today and had to rush and put it away before doing the school run)

Bottom drawers: fruit and veg
Bottom shelf: fruit and veg that doesn't fit in drawers
Next shelf: yogurts, dairy and desserts.
Next shelf: meat, fish and poultry with fresh pasta as I couldn't fit it anywhere else
Next shelf: miscellaneous stuff

I know it's not very organised. :)

Massively enjoying fridges so here's mine. Too much milk, not enough food at the moment. Bottom drawer is for leftovers, not much of those either, sad times. All leftovers in that drawer must be in plastic cartons, ideally labelled.

I don’t think HP sauce needs to be refrigerated?

Keeponkeepigon · 16/01/2024 22:15

Ketchup in the fridge - controversial!

RosaMoline · 16/01/2024 22:27

There’s nothing very interesting in my fridge ATM, so I thought I’d show you the outside instead!

Anton Lavey fan??

Updownleftandright · 16/01/2024 22:39

I was going to post a picture of Richie from Bottom trapped under his fridge, but sadly can't find a picture of it.

I do keep a nude picture of Des Lynham under mine too though.

msmatcha · 17/01/2024 06:33

Oh I didn't realise about HP and tomato sauce never occurred to me not to put in fridge. But the Worcestershire sauce has never seen the inside of those French doors so I'm not sure where my logic is. Now going to scan other fridges for sauces, see if it's just me.

I cant enlarge pictures on my phone so i cant see whats in the fridges..

This !!! It's so frustrating!! I can never see what's in the pics . Is there anyway of doing this anyone ?

Vallmo47 · 17/01/2024 07:06

No time to play before work but this is awesome!

TerfTalking · 17/01/2024 07:07

Here’s mine, taken five minutes ago. Have to say, I’m absolutely delighted that I’m not the only person with dozens of jars and bottles of condiments, pickles and sauces.

I love the pics!!! I love that I finally see fridges like mine, clearly people who cook regularly, live normal busy family lives and don’t have everything weirdly decanted into perfectly matchy matchy Tupperware!

DH is constantly moaning at all the jars in ours. I have a yearly cull, and inevitably the next week find I’m needing whatever was thrown out, be it pickled lemons or chipotle paste.

Ketchup in the fridge - controversial!

DS will only eat Stokes ketchup and they says to be stored in the fridge. I didn't know soy should be though

I recently bought suet and that said to be stored in the fridge after opening. I'm sure you used to keep it in the cupboard forever

Our condiments are in the top shelf and yes have a pre Christmas cull, they they rarely last long anyway

TerfTalking · 17/01/2024 07:57

Shocked at the soy sauce and the suet. Both of mine are in the larder cupboard.

TheSandgroper · 17/01/2024 08:18

Here are my two. Lots of water bottles which is not normal but we had teenagers around on a viciously hot day. Lemons and limes get stored on the tree.

Do NOT lie your milk down on the shelf unless you want it pissing out everywhere! Shock

This is a mistake you only make once though 😂

Babyblackbear78 · 17/01/2024 08:42

Mine is bare apart from condiments, cheese, butter and veg/salad. Living off frozen chicken breasts, mince and pasta at the moment! Roll on payday!!! Spent way too much on food at Christmas, but we’re still eating so all good!

steppemum · 17/01/2024 09:22

Can I ask, all those who have these french fridges, don't you end up with loads of stuff stored in the doors and not much shelf space? I have just been looking in my fridge and most of my shelf stuff wouldn't fit in the doors.
They just seem really small to me.

But then I have a tall larder fridge!

here is mine. This is obviously how to store milk. Rest is chaos (although there is an order in my madness)

steppemum · 17/01/2024 09:22

and I know all about eggs (keep chickens) but this is the easiest place to keep them.

Celticliving · 17/01/2024 09:40

Gosh, distinct lack of Lurpak going on 🤣

Baneofmyexistence · 17/01/2024 09:44

I’m following this in jealousy at the size of some the fridges and the extra one for drinks. I’ve no where to fit anything other than one fridge that is way too small for a family of five. If one day we can ever afford to do up the kitchen I’m coming back here for fridge inspiration! But here’s my tiny fridge in all its glory. Yes the eggs are in there as no where else to store them! And I tend to freeze my meat as it doesn’t fit in the fridge.

Has everyone taken the wine bottles out for the pictures? I’m on Dry January + (Jan & Lent) but still have a couples of white wine in the fridge 😃

🙋‍♀️Mine are still in fridge, right next to the bottle of Grey Goose vodka I treated myself to. Dry January here too

CasperGutman · 17/01/2024 09:57

That's a very full fridge. I take it you've just been shopping? You could save a bit of space by keeping some of those things elsewhere: :

  • Eggs really don't need to be in there (especially at this time of year) - maybe in exceptionally hot weather there might be some benefit, but they'll keep to the expected date in a cupboard no problem.
  • Tomatoes really shouldn't be in the fridge. The flavour is better if stored at room temperature. Why shouldn’t you put tomatoes in the fridge? - BBC Science Focus Magazine
  • Apples would be fine at room temperature for at least a week or two, as well.

Why shouldn’t you put tomatoes in the fridge?

Keep those tasty, red fruits out of the fridge if you want a more complex taste.

Thank you! I'm going to have a rejig today and take out the bits that don't need to be in there out, as we have way more cupboard space than fridge space.

The fruit is in there as I prefer my fruit crunchy and cold Grin
