To ask you to show me your fridge?

Please!

I'm somewhat fascinated by people's fridges. Whenever I watched MTV cribs when younger I only cared about what was inside the fridges.

Anyone else like me?

I'll start with mine. (Yes I know it's not very well organised but I did a food shop today and had to rush and put it away before doing the school run)

Bottom drawers: fruit and veg
Bottom shelf: fruit and veg that doesn't fit in drawers
Next shelf: yogurts, dairy and desserts.
Next shelf: meat, fish and poultry with fresh pasta as I couldn't fit it anywhere else
Next shelf: miscellaneous stuff

I know it's not very organised. :)

If your milk goes sour in the door, you need to turn your fridge up.

This has literally never happened to me and I use my milk a day or two past its date.

I tried that, things then started freezing in the fridge, I use the door for juices and it's grand.

KissTheRains · 16/01/2024 18:10

My fridge is empty..... On purpose..
If it's got stuff in it, I eat it and end up 16+ Stone. 🤣🤣

I do love seeing other people's though and marvel at the self control you've all got. 🤪

No need to keep potatoes in fridge

Supermarkets don't refrigerate eggs, so I don't think you need to either

Good full fridge though!

thesecondmrswogan · 16/01/2024 18:11

Don't keep potatoes in the fridge it does something to the sugars apparently

AnotherAdventFridge · 16/01/2024 18:11

My fridge is quite low on fresh food, because it must be time to shop for veg tomorrow. I totally make up for it with endless jars of weird stuff.

Ooh, this feels weird! A fridge thread and it's not even Christmas 😀.

Aparecium · 16/01/2024 18:16

We bought a 'French doors' fridge last year, and I love it. For the first time ever my fridge is today and has remained tidy.

Also for the first time, I am breaking the rules and keeping raw meat in the middle of the fridge. It's in the grey box - which is solid, so nothing can drip, and gets washed every week or two.

The jars really need filtering, though.

The Aldi / Lidl barista oat milk is the best!

What are the gold and silver things?

Another messy fridge to add to the collection on this thread. And yes, eggs in the fridge always , they last longer I think

Eggs out of the fridge if you are UK, but in the fridge if you are US. Room temperature eggs are better for poached, scrambled, and boiled eggs.

Wow, that is a lot of cream! What do you do with it all!!

Nonplusultra · 16/01/2024 18:25

I’ve never understood the raw meat rule because it’s still invariably sitting over the fruit and veg drawer and likely to drip down onto that, probably unnoticed at the back.

It would make more sense if it was “always keep raw meat in a tray or box with sides to contain spillage” but instead it’s always the bottom shelf that isn’t really a bottom shelf.

I walk on the wild side with milk in the crisper drawer, condiments on the door and veg at nose level where I can’t forget about it.

I have a shitty integrated fridge, I'm lucky if I can fit a raisin on the shelf (pun intended) along with everything else.
We used to have an American style fridge freezer in our old house...that is where the party's at! at! I miss it so much.
It was the Mary poppins bag of all fridges, and yet there was still room for more.

Vergingontheridiculous · 16/01/2024 18:37

I had to move some of my weird jars outside to make way for Christmas food and they have not made their way back in again yet...

@baldpenguine the gold things are Guinness, round silver is some drink thing belonging to DD, the crumply silver thing is seitan.

Schum · 16/01/2024 18:46

Very untidy and not organised but here’s mine.

Your fridge is the perfect example of 'organised chaos' and I love it!

You have a lot of cheese (I think that's what I can see) and I'm enjoying zooming in on the side shelves trying to figure out what's going on in there 😂

We use a lot of cream!

Cream in mash
I do a creamy salmon linguine every week
Mushroom stroganoff (crème freiche)
Homemade soups

I also bake a lot. So I always have cream handy!

Vergingontheridiculous · 16/01/2024 18:58

There is quite a lot of cheese, partly from Christmas and partly because I usually do an online shop on the commute to the office when I've forgotten what we have 🤣

There are also multiple takeaway boxes with leftover children's dinner bits which will inevitably go in the bin, but I guess I'm an optimist.

TheBirdintheCave · 16/01/2024 19:00

I got a label maker for my birthday and went a bit nuts with boxes and dividers in our fridge 😅

Kickstartplease · 16/01/2024 19:01

I am looking at these & thinking I need to go shopping - as there is nothing in mine 😁
