To ask you to show me your fridge?

Please!

I'm somewhat fascinated by people's fridges. Whenever I watched MTV cribs when younger I only cared about what was inside the fridges.

Anyone else like me?

I'll start with mine. (Yes I know it's not very well organised but I did a food shop today and had to rush and put it away before doing the school run)

Bottom drawers: fruit and veg
Bottom shelf: fruit and veg that doesn't fit in drawers
Next shelf: yogurts, dairy and desserts.
Next shelf: meat, fish and poultry with fresh pasta as I couldn't fit it anywhere else
Next shelf: miscellaneous stuff

I know it's not very organised. :)

Whaaaa?!? I guess she must entertain a. lot. ?
Maybe an ice fetish. People are weird. Even without kids I couldnt see myself ever doing more than filling an ice cube tray. Maybe she has a full time ice maker on the payroll? 😂

Kids: 'Mum - what are you going to do when we leave home?'
Me: 'Darlings, I will put a dedicated ice freezer in your bedrooms'

Maybe I could have an ice freezer in one, a second fridge in another. I'll be living the dream in 10 years when the youngest has fledged.

Didn't expect to enjoy this thread so much!

Main fridge, heavy on the leftovers, light on the veg.

Overflow fridge, aka drinks fridge and other stuff we want to keep extra cold. It's the colder fridge. Apparently. Husband says. Neither is exactly warm.

What's the green in the glass bottle? Looks like some kind of smoothie concoction (I love a green smoothie)

It’s a well being smoothie from Athletic Greens. My DD is on day 4 and enjoying it so far. She has an ED so anyway she will take extra nutrients is a bonus.

Cold jam?!

I never used to keep jam in the fridge. The amount of sugar in jam means that is should keep foever sitting on a shelf in your cupboard, just slowly crystalising over the years.

Except that started to change a few years ago, and I started to get mouldy jam. I think that the recipes have got lighter on the sugar or use sugar substitutes and now they don't keep as well/go mouldy.

We eat jam veyr slowly, so it now lives in the fridge

I like your turntables!

Thank you, they probably take up more room than there worth but it makes finding jar easier!

BiddyPop · 18/01/2024 11:01

At home, it was always quite full but not quite as full as that.

I have an almost empty one in my new apartment (working away for a couple of years) - I plan on 1 of the 2 side by side drawers for meat, with fruit/veg in the other and spilling to 2nd shelf.

Bottom shelf is for tall bottles (like wine box or juice pouches).

3rd shelf is shallow so eggs, cooked meats, (fresh pasta), etc.

4th shelf also shallow so bottles of water on side.

Top is quite high so cheese and jars not on the bottom/door.

I love those little bowls!

All my bowls are ancient so I don't expect you to remember, but if you do, where are they from please?

I LOVE patterned dinnerware!

As it happens, for one of them I can even give you a link: https://www.theorientalshop.eu/product/blue-white-bowl-set-flora-japonica-set-of-4-12-x-6-3-cm-300-ml/

They're Tokyo Design Studio. We got them from John Lewis a few years ago as a wedding present and they no longer sell them, but this is the exact set. They have a few (beautiful) designs).

The other bowl was from Tesco but I've no idea if you could buy it now. But I did find these which are pretty similar and probably up your street if you like the patterns: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Green-Globe-Dinnerware-Geometric-Chopsticks/dp/B0BGMLC37G

Blue / White Bowl Set - Flora Japonica - Set of 4 - 12 x 6.3 cm 300 ml

The Flora Japonica collection was inspired by Dutch botanists who brought new plant species to Japan centuries ago. It's about exploring and admiring Japanese flowers. National treasures such as the maple leaf, the heart-shaped katsura, the beautiful w...

I have very little in our fridge atm. And we keep no jams, no sauces in our fridge. All sauces get consumed so quickly there's no chance of anything going off!

I’m a disgrace with my leftover bits and bobs of jars. I need to be ruthless and throw them away. I’ve got half used jars of harissa, chipotle paste, various curry pastes, chilli sauces, ketchups, bbq sauces, brown sauce, burger sauce, vinaigrettes, jams, chutneys, marmalades, anchovies - you name it in a jar, I’ve got a half used one!

I'm doing mine today too @BewareTheBeardedDragon

Do you literally just put it into a container, freeze it, then put it in the fridge?

I normally buy olive spread from the shops (I buy butter too but it's so expensive) so I'd love to know how this works!

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 19/01/2024 09:51

@baldpenguine yes - that's it! If you're using a glass container then make sure you have the lid loose enough for air to get in/out while it freezes or it might crack as the oil expands a bit I think. Then take it out and put it in the fridge and it stays solid until you spread it. Mind - it doesn't taste like the spreads you can buy since it's just pure olive oil, and melts on your toast very quickly. You could probably experiment with mixing other things in but I haven't.

This !!! It's so frustrating!! I can never see what's in the pics . Is there anyway of doing this anyone ?

Did you find out how to enlarge?

Aparecium · 19/01/2024 12:19

Love the olive oil idea. Will do that. I don't think there's any concern with cracking, as I accidentally left a new, unopened bottle outside in winter once and it froze beautifully.

Enlarging pictures: on my phone I just tap to open the picture, then double-tap or two-finger-spread to zoom. On desktop, ctrl + enlarges online screens, so might work (or might enlarge only text, depends onthe website, I think).

Talking of pictures, wouldn't it be great to have a gallery view of all the pictures in a thread? With the poster's name at the bottom of the pic and a link to that post!

I love the taste of olive oil so it's given me something to do on my lunch break, thank you!
