To say that the variety of crisps has gone downhill?

Why oh why won't they bring back ready salted chipsticks? Or even the supermarkets knock of version!? Why can't you buy single (or mutli) packets of walkers ready salted squares? I know my taste in crisps is boring, as I mainly long for discontinued ready salted flavours. Although I do miss branningtons(?) beef and mustard...Anyone remember ready salted kangaroo shaped crisps from the 90s? And those little ready salted triangles and or the ready salted tubes (same texture as walkers squares) both from sainsburys. Also, I have fond memories ot these maize based bacon flavour chipsticks (no idea what they were called) Anyone else remember these ?

I haven’t forgiven M&S for discontinuing the Ready Salted Combo Mix!!

Noooo. Why!? These were my go to in m&S after they stopped the large packets of own brands ready salted squares

The kangaroo shaped ones!! Oh my goodness I’d completely forgotten they existed. Jumpys? Is that what they were called?

Also 3D Doritos, they were good!

Yes! Jumpys!

@mrsfindlay the kangaroo shaped crisps were called Jumpys, my children loved them and we could only get them from the shop on the farm where my husband worked. You can get the Paprika flavoured ones here https://www.piccantino.co.uk/kellys/jumpys-paprika-1 but they are expensive for the tiny packet.

For all those missing M & S prawn cocktail shells, I was absolutely gutted as Skips just arent the same at all. I am sure (hoping) that they will reappear in the future and taste exactly the same. Their cheese tasters just arent the same these days either.

Edited

Wow they are a bit pricey, I feel like they might be worth it though!

@DrCoconut in the Polish section in Sainsburys. DD loves them.

BeyondMyWits · 16/01/2024 21:41

I am becoming a fan of grown up crisps now - Pipers wild thyme and rosemary are the most flavoursome delicious crisps I have come across.

Gone from Golden wonder cheese and onion, to walkers prawn cocktail to Pipers... over a lifetime of crisp eating. (59)

Are these maize based ? Or the hard potatoe sticks?

Hard potato.

I miss Tangy Toms. They were 10p a bag (in the 80s) and utterly divine.

😂😂😂. Amazon grocery are impressive for less common things. I can get proper Italian Nutella from them for son. And Italian biscuits, pastas etc. I bought him a rarer rum for Xmas

fantasticoplastico · 18/01/2024 11:19

Kettles mango and chilli crisps were delicious.

Only crisps worth having now are...

Salt and vinegar discos especially the crisp dust in the bottom
Scampi fries
Coop finest salt and vinegar crisps

All the rest are bland and rubbish

fantasticoplastico · 18/01/2024 11:19

Oh and brannigans roast beef and mustard if you can still get them. I haven't found them for 30 years

fantasticoplastico · 18/01/2024 11:20

One more Coop frazzles

Igneococcus · 18/01/2024 11:22

For the truffle lovers, my Lidl has reduced Parmesan&Truffle crisps from their Christmas range at the moment.

WaltzingWaters · 18/01/2024 11:29

Jumpys! The kangaroo ones. I loved those. They had such a good texture. They did still do them at one place I travelled at, can’t remember where it was though. I wish they brought those back.

Mostly, I love the crisps they have now (I’m a big crisp fanatic 😝) but I do miss Jumpy’s!

You can buy Tangy Toms in our corner shop.

DahliaMacNamara · 18/01/2024 15:18

I sometimes see Tangy Toms in Aldi. Not with their regular crisp haul, but in the middle aisles.

Dementedmaw · 18/01/2024 20:50

Ready salted chipsticks are my absolute favourites, miss them so much, I agree it’s annoying that you can’t get individual packs of ready salted squares.

golden wonder spring onion have not been as good since they were ‘new and improved’ a few years ago, I did recently try Lays green onion which were just like the old spring onion

DahliaMacNamara · 18/01/2024 20:54

Lay's green onion are lovely. I agree about the Golden Wonder spring onion flavour. Their cheese and onion ones are still the business, though.

Dementedmaw · 18/01/2024 20:56

I also miss the sea salt & cracked black pepper Sensations!

GellerYeller · 18/01/2024 21:02

For those missing Brannigans we got some Tesco Finest Beef and Horseradish that were very much like them a few weeks ago. Hopefully they weren’t a festive limited edition?!
I also miss Bacon Crispy Fries.
