I read the MN thread on Tattle but it's quite dull tbh. They just repeat the same tired in-jokes every day.

rochethenut · 02/01/2024 16:17

TattleTalesTattling · 02/01/2024 16:11

Good lord. Another one who didn't get it.

given your what you decide to start a thread about… It was a reasonable assumption to make that you weren’t trying to be witty

rochethenut · 02/01/2024 16:18

wonder why you felt the name to name change to start the thread?

moomoomoo27 · 02/01/2024 16:18

Tattle is full of people who love to bitch but can't take reality themselves. You make an honest comment about someone there or point out the hypocrisy of something they said and they're immediately crying in a corner.

It's also very hypocritical between threads - someone who is mocked relentlessly in their own thread often comes up as an angel/good example in someone else's.

And lots of people buying products made by/recommended by influencers that they claim to hate. Lots of MLM supporters too, that have fallen for the koolaid that the products are better (they're not).

And when some thread goes viral there, the people who own the forum come along and try to direct the topic and talk about their marketing stats in a badly veiled way because they're clearly excited it's getting some interest. And it attracts the fake PR/reputation management posters too, which are badly moderated.

Also can't stand the pointless auto replacement of words, i.e. shit is automatically replaced with tit, for no reason.

If it had a bit more point to it, e.g. calling out influencers promoting fast fashion brands, it would serve a purpose.

IClaudine · 02/01/2024 16:18

They are just soooo mean about physical appearance which I don't see on MN

Have you never read any on the "how old do I look" threads?!

pinkyredrose · 02/01/2024 16:19

TattleTalesTattling · 02/01/2024 14:56

Do you have reading comprehension problems?

And you think Mumsnet is rude! 😂

Beezknees · 02/01/2024 16:20

The people who post on Tattle are usually jealous of the celebs they spend time bitching about.

but anyone starting that kind of thread on mumsnet is the highest grade of attention seeker that exists

Because I haven't LTB yet and didn't want to be shouted at about it.

Try Femvox, no one is rude or vile, all very supportive if a tad quiet.
tattle is only good for reading awful awful stuff about celebs and influencer types, no helpful cooking, gardening or outfit tips

AvonCallingBarksdale · 02/01/2024 16:21

I pop on occasionally to read the Health Influencers threads. They generally start specific threads about people when they really don’t like them and pretty much rip them to shreds. There’s a guy who recently died from bowel cancer who Tattlers are convinced is a scammer. The level of “investigative” work done to prove that he’s not even dead is astonishing.
From what I can see they’re mostly giving huge airtime to the Insta Influencers that they purport to hate which is odd 🤷‍♀️

NonPlayerCharacter · 02/01/2024 16:21

No, that's not true. You can swear on Tattle but it'll censor it if you're not logged in.

Growlybear83 · 02/01/2024 16:21

Much as I'd like a Tattle account, I've never had an invitation code, but I do read the forum regularly. I do agree with some previous posters that people are generally much much nicer to each other and there seems to be little of the competitive under eating, salary boasting, exceptionally intelligent and attractive children, and general man hating that there is on Mumsnet. People also seem far more tolerant of each other's views.

Some of the celebrity threads can be very vitriolic but quite frankly, celebrities, politicians, so-called 'influencers', and other public figures choose to put themselves in the public eye and I think if you decide to live out your life in public you can't expect people not to voice their opinions about you, whether they are good or negative, and have to accept that a proportion of people will express very strong views about all aspects of your life.

I find that I'm very selective about the threads I post on here because of the very predictable way that such a large proportion of posters can't accept that not everyone is an ardent feminist and not every woman hates men, and the depressing standard comment of 'leave the bastard' if a partner so much as gets tipsy or is an hour late getting home.

THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT, ITS A LINE ROUTINELY TROTTED OUT ON MUMSNET 😂

I despair.

If you think that gives people the right to be cruel, then you'll fit right in on Tattle.

TattleTalesTattling · 02/01/2024 16:20

Oh, that’s your life.

Ok… take pleasure where you can find it OP. and i hope you and your children aren’t suffering too much

CantDealwithChristmas · 02/01/2024 16:23

The true crime threads on Tattle can be quite concerning. I went on the ones about Star Hobson when that trial was going on. The detailed fetishisation and rumination on the physical details of what the victim went through - even to the point of lengthy speculation on physical details of pain, etc - was grotesque and not a little unnerving. Of course it was all dressed up as righteous concern and a love for justice but it wasn't that really. It was getting off on suffering. I think that kind of thing would be stamped on pretty quickly on MN. Not be moderators but by other posters which is better, I think.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is an air on Tattle of being nicer people and morally superior than on MN (they do make direct comparison) but it's not like that at all really.

NonPlayerCharacter · 02/01/2024 16:22

not at all. i don’t even click on those types of threads. the worst of women.

The OP is giving 'classic' Mumsnet replies. She's being sarcastic, not overtly rude.
