Tattle is like every other snark site (from GOMI to the reddit sub that snarks on Mumsnet)

I hink it starts off as a bit of fun, letting off steam about a vapid sleb who annoys you...

Then suddenly you find you're a full-on obsessive bunnyboilerish fulltime hatey hater, obsessively refreshing their socials and pouncing on every thing they said or did...

It's not very healthy really.

Do you have reading comprehension problems?

Please go to Tattle and spare us.

How do I join?

EmptyYoghurtPot · 02/01/2024 15:00

Are content creators with thousands of followers not normal people? I don’t understand what you wanted to get from this post.

Badtrampoline · 02/01/2024 15:01

Tattle is funnier and there is no holier than thou attitude or people sticking the boot in. Happens every single thread on here.

Giltedged · 02/01/2024 15:02

Tattle is foul. It insults babies and toddlers. How is that OK?

I know MN can be awful. But it doesn’t make the things they say on tattle acceptable.

Isn’t that the kind of nasty post you’re supposedly against?

God no, far from it.

I'm picking fun at MNers propensity to tell somebody to LTB for the slightest misdemeanor.

Obvzzzz.

Doesn't Tattle censor swear-words or am I getting it mixed up?

Not your every day run of the mill swear words no.

Ah right, must be thinking of a different site.

Swear words are only censored for you if you don't have an account or if you're not logged in. Cunt appears as bleep, as does fuck and other profanities. If you have an account, it's often as sweary as here.

Oh, I've just remembered, paedo is censored, as is gimp. They are the only two words they don't like Grin

That makes sense! I've read stuff on Tattle before but don't have an account so was confused by how twee the swearing was lol.

NonPlayerCharacter · 02/01/2024 15:14

It depends on who you are and what you want.

There's less on Tattle for advice on ending a relationship or marriage, or women's rights.

And if you're a public figure, yes it's vicious.

But it's a much friendlier place within itself, among users.

GalileoHumpkins · 02/01/2024 15:16

Tattle is much better than what? A poke in the eye with a wet fish?

I do find MN to be quite humourless at times and the obsession with being middle-class is baffling.

RuledbytheWashingMachine · 02/01/2024 15:19

Both have their place.

I have learnt many useful things over the years on Mumsnet from relationships to cleaning. The majority of posters mean well and sometimes being challenged is a good thing.

But I do enjoy a bit of Tattle especially when there's celebrity gossip and when I just don't like a celebrity and don't know why.

NewYearNewNothingImGreat · 02/01/2024 15:19

I honestly think they are indistinguishable. Same threads. Sometimes a thread is nice, sometimes it's horrible.

I hate the way tattle take threads off MN and are cruel - especially style threads. They are just soooo mean about physical appearance which I don't see on MN.

But, honestly, I think they are pretty much identical.

Sparklesocks · 02/01/2024 15:20

I don’t think calling out the hypocrisy/bad behaviour of a celebrity/influencer is necessarily a bad thing, but tattle also has a lot of posters who obsessively post about people they hate and spend hours a day/week ripping apart every single minor thing they do/say and write long paragraphs about how awful they are. I think those people are losers, to be honest.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 02/01/2024 15:22

What is tattle’s position on crows?

BethDuttonsTwin · 02/01/2024 15:23

It certainly has less overt snobbery from posters who genuinely don’t seem to realise that’s what they are, and the luxury beliefs presented as the only decent way to think gets tiresome sometimes.

That said this forum is incredibly informative and I am always admiring at just how much knowledge some posters have around their chosen subjects. It’s always my first call if I am querying anything. I type my query into my search bar and then type Mumsnet. It’s never failed me yet. I’ve been on here for 15 years. Tattle is ok for the occasional visit but doesn’t hold my attention like MN.

Have you never seen any of the threads people post on here asking how old they look/asking for style advice/if they need botox etc. A lot of mumsnet users make it their mission to be as nasty as possible to them. Just yesterday someone posted a photo asking how old she looks and the responses were awful. Don't get me wrong tattle isn't great either but a lot of mumsnet users definitely are horrible about peoples looks

Turfwars · 02/01/2024 15:25

I actually went over to tattle to see what all the fuss was about. And stayed. I don't follow any influencers or blogger type people so I don't get into those threads.

feellikeanalien · 02/01/2024 15:25

I do think people are getting nastier on MN and I certainly wouldn't post for advice on anything to do with relationships. I also think it is becoming more and more difficult to have a balanced discussion about current affairs. However I think that is the case with social media in general. I haven't looked at Tattle much but one time when I looked at their Harry and Meghan threads they were really nasty and vicious, especially about Meghan, and I think quite a few of them would have been deleted on here.
