AIBU?

I like Tattle. It's been a bit of an eye opener about some celebrities & the lives they portray they're living

Moderation is really tight though. I got a month's ban once for asking (what I thought) was a straightforward question

I might nip over to Tattle to do a bit of trolling. What's sauce for the goose..

Twemble twemble. The point is: do you expect MNHQ to do anything about it?

What was the question?

Isn’t tattle just about bitching about influencers? The best parts of MN are stuff like the Christmas bargain threads, housekeeping, S&B etc. Before I had a MN account I used to get brought here by Google every time I wanted to know what hoover to buy, how to remove a stain etc - you’ve got the collective wisdom of millions of women on here!

MaggieNextDoor · 02/01/2024 15:55

Tattle don't have personal messaging enabled so that stops the internet beggars with 37p to their name, starving kids, no nappies, no food, no electricity, no internet, no phone, no friends, no family, nothing, rolling up for handouts, like they sometimes do on here.

Spaghettieis · 02/01/2024 15:56

starsinthenightskies · 02/01/2024 15:48

I was shocked by the way some tattle posters talk about celebrities / influencers etc. Such extreme hatred for people they’ve never even met!

Also the way they dig up info on people is quite stalkerish.

The thread about MN is quite funny at times though 🙊

Yes that’s a good point. I was once browsing tattle about a YouTuber I occasionally used to watch and people had posted details that enabled you to find her house.

Depends. I got into tattle during Lucy Letby's trial and it was extremely informative and interesting for that. I've kept up to date with other trials and major events on there since then. I do find it very cliquey and there are certain posters who seem to live on tattle, which means a lot of in-joking and sucking up to certain posters going on, which can get quite irritating. I then tried to venture onto some of the celeb gossip pages but they were just full of horrible, vicious personal attacks. I was quite shocked by the amount of hatred people were directing towards certain celebs and influencers.

Edited

Weren't they so stalkery that one of them actually went to that trail so they could report back every day?

SEG152 · 02/01/2024 15:58

The majority of stuff I see on tattle is justified like calling out influencers for not declaring ADS and living fake lives etc. however there can be some mean stuff. But I agree that it’s nicer than here.

OpalOrchid · 02/01/2024 15:58

CantDealwithChristmas · 02/01/2024 15:50

Tattle's fun sometimes. But it's not really comparable. It's a celeb gossip site whereas MN is more like an all-aspects-of-life-as-a-female site.

MN can be brutal at times but posters also tend to strive for honesty. Tattle is more of a hugbox.

For example. If someone posted "My partner cheated on me and I've been going through a rough time and gained 4 stone from comfort eating, I feel dreadful about myself", Tattle would be like "Oooooh you're beautiful just the way you are!! Lots of heart and hug emojis!" whereas MN would be like "You need to confront your partner. Are there children involved? And here's some tips to get your eating issues under control. Binge eating can have dangerous effects."

The former response might make me feel better in the moment but the latter responses are more helpful long term.

Yes I'd compare Tattle more to Netmums.

beanontoast · 02/01/2024 15:59

I use both for different reasons but I think the people are nicer on Tattle and the moderation is better.

Do you have reading comprehension problems?

How rude 🤔

TheShellBeach · 02/01/2024 16:03

I rather like Tattle.
Not all of it but quite a lot of it.
And I agree that the mods there delete nasty posts very quickly.

I do think people are getting nastier on MN and I certainly wouldn't post for advice on anything to do with relationships. I also think it is becoming more and more difficult to have a balanced discussion about current affairs. However I think that is the case with social media in general. I haven't looked at Tattle much but one time when I looked at their Harry and Meghan threads they were really nasty and vicious, especially about Meghan, and I think quite a few of them would have been deleted on here.

The Harry & Meghan threads on Tattle have to be some of the most bitter, hateful threads I've ever seen. Totally unhinged.

TheKeatingFive · 02/01/2024 16:05

Off you head then, it's a free country 🥳

Tattle is awful, full of vile bullies.

Oh the irony. This place is vile. Nearly every thread now is just a pile on tearing an OP apart, no matter the topic.

NewYearNewNothingImGreat · 02/01/2024 16:07

Lulalola · 02/01/2024 15:24

Have you never seen any of the threads people post on here asking how old they look/asking for style advice/if they need botox etc. A lot of mumsnet users make it their mission to be as nasty as possible to them. Just yesterday someone posted a photo asking how old she looks and the responses were awful. Don't get me wrong tattle isn't great either but a lot of mumsnet users definitely are horrible about peoples looks

Oh yes, for sure! I just disagree that Tattle is so much nicer. It's all the same people on both I reckon.

People are mad to ask how old they look on either forum!

InAMess2023 · 02/01/2024 16:07

Whilst Tattle can be awful about influencers/celebrities (although a lot of the time they deserve to be called out on the things they're doing) the advice threads and the way that posters speak to each other is a million percent nicer than you see on here. The amount of times I've seen people piled on on here for the smallest things is copious and quite frankly, often vile. In the past few days alone I've had one poster repeatedly claim I've been lying about a medical diagnosis as I don't fit the 'typical' presentation, and another following me around the site cross-referencing my posts from that thread and insisting I must give myself labels and that I'll 100% be bullied in the future. LOVELY eye roll

Tattle is ok for what it is. Gets quite boring though, and I don’t give a fuck about bloggers/influencers etc.

usernother · 02/01/2024 16:13

I dip in and out of tattle. It's funny at times but they are vicious and tear some people they are posting about to shreds. Very nasty.
