Is it a bit boring on Tattle today? No influencers kids to be vile about?

MrsSparkington · 02/01/2024 15:28

I prefer tattle as every other thread on there doesn't say 'for context'

ilovesooty · 02/01/2024 15:28

I've never been on Tattle but if I report personal attacks on here they're almost always deleted.

OpalOrchid · 02/01/2024 15:28

Isn't it against Tattle rules to troll other forums?

OpalOrchid · 02/01/2024 15:30

I prefer MN because I know who owns it.

I didn't think so, but I don't know how they'd police it if so.

Doesn't Helen McDougal own Tattle?

MaggieNextDoor · 02/01/2024 15:35

People's husbands on Tattle generally don't appear to take part in outing hobbies. On the other hand, they don't earn 6 figure salaries either so probably can't afford to have an outing hobby and just go for a bike ride or a game of golf instead.

I thought one of the first rules of Tattle was no trolling as well as no disagreeing with each other.

  1. I'm not trolling
  2. troll hunting is against mumsnet rules 😬

Blimey, I never knew there was a Flouncers' Corner! 😂🥳

mordenbuity · 02/01/2024 15:38

Are you hoping for a mention over there @TattleTalesTattling 😉

Don't pretend you're not mean. Individual Mumsnetters are fair game, no? Someone from here was being called illiterate yesterday, a nice little pile on that was. Hypocrisy.

The fact that it even exists speaks volumes IMO 😂

I like Tattle. I’d never post asking for advice on MN, for one I don’t know
if it will end up on the mumsnet Facebook page for all to see, and secondly people prefer to point out flaws in other people's posts rather than offer advice.

mordenbuity · 02/01/2024 15:40

Some of us are members of both places. Be careful you haven't given yourself away 😉

No trolling Tattle, sure. No trolling other sites? How would they know if you did? How can they moderate what you do somewhere else? If I behave myself on Tattle, why would they know or care if I make up stupid stories on Mumsnet?

And I've seen plenty of robust disagreement on Tattle. Posters just don't tend to respond to it with accusations of bullying, gaslighting, moral bankruptcy and, worst of all, being insufficiently middle class.

If I say that every single person who posts on Tattle is the same that they all slag off influencers kids, is that the same as saying all Mumsnetters are the same and never challenge the outing hobby, 6 figure salary. LTB comments on MN?

It's easy to pick the worst bits from here, same as it's easy to pick the worst bits from Tattle.

I might nip over to Tattle to do a bit of trolling. What's sauce for the goose..

Comtesse · 02/01/2024 15:44

social media based on being rude about other people who makes their living from social media? I cannot think of anything more shallow or vapid.

Good luck with that if you don't have an existing account 😁

mantyzer · 02/01/2024 15:46

Tattle people are much nicer to each other. Many on MN seem to take pride in being the opposite.

starsinthenightskies · 02/01/2024 15:48

I was shocked by the way some tattle posters talk about celebrities / influencers etc. Such extreme hatred for people they’ve never even met!

Also the way they dig up info on people is quite stalkerish.

The thread about MN is quite funny at times though 🙊

Goodnightto2023 · 02/01/2024 15:49

Depends. I got into tattle during Lucy Letby's trial and it was extremely informative and interesting for that. I've kept up to date with other trials and major events on there since then. I do find it very cliquey and there are certain posters who seem to live on tattle, which means a lot of in-joking and sucking up to certain posters going on, which can get quite irritating. I then tried to venture onto some of the celeb gossip pages but they were just full of horrible, vicious personal attacks. I was quite shocked by the amount of hatred people were directing towards certain celebs and influencers.

CantDealwithChristmas · 02/01/2024 15:50

Tattle's fun sometimes. But it's not really comparable. It's a celeb gossip site whereas MN is more like an all-aspects-of-life-as-a-female site.

MN can be brutal at times but posters also tend to strive for honesty. Tattle is more of a hugbox.

For example. If someone posted "My partner cheated on me and I've been going through a rough time and gained 4 stone from comfort eating, I feel dreadful about myself", Tattle would be like "Oooooh you're beautiful just the way you are!! Lots of heart and hug emojis!" whereas MN would be like "You need to confront your partner. Are there children involved? And here's some tips to get your eating issues under control. Binge eating can have dangerous effects."

The former response might make me feel better in the moment but the latter responses are more helpful long term.
