@Muthaofcats i don’t actually have a problem with discussing those things, or even with saying that suchabody is annoying / not as clever / as good a mother / as funny as she thinks she is. That’s all fine.

But you get

X is a callous bitch. She won’t even let that poor little girl in her bed

Then elsewhere

Y should be reported to social services, that child doesn’t even have her own bed

I have seen Molly Mae’s 11 month old called ugly. I have seen Stacey Solomon’s children called ferrets and Charlotte Dawson’s two year old son nicknamed Chucky.

Want to have a go at jack monroe or Liz Fraser or even Molly Mae, go for it: they are adults. But babies and toddlers? Who thinks that’s acceptable?

InAMess2023 · 02/01/2024 21:52

@Justanotherdayy absolutely here 100%. I'm not a member of tattle anymore as my account has an error I never bothered to question but I never had anything but genuine concern and support from members over there (not just on advice/off topic threads but in general). Literally a handful of threads I've made on here I've been subject to utterly vile abuse from people who'd try and convince you it's all in your head if you tried to question them!

chgofnama · 03/01/2024 10:50

I can honestly say that I've found Mumsnet a supportive place to ask for help; from trivial to more important matters, and I'm very grateful for that. It does have its faults too, I'm not disagreeing.

Tattle is the first place I check when you see a dodgy influencer or celebrity, and they're usually on the ball there. I think they're useful. Sometimes some of the threads go a bit far but I think most would admit that.

mantyzer · 03/01/2024 16:41

Mumsnet is very hit and miss.

GordoStevensMustache · 03/01/2024 17:56

Tattle is common.

And nasty passive aggressiveness on MN is not.

That’s quite passive aggressive in itself

Hoglet70 · 03/01/2024 18:44

If someone wants to give me a Tattle code then I'll go and have a go and come back and vote!! 😁

Growlybear83 · 03/01/2024 18:50

You don't need a code to read Tattle. Anyone can read the threads but can't post unless they are members.

Hoglet70 · 03/01/2024 18:52

@Growlybear83 I know that but I want the full experience, don't I!

Yes but the swearing is quite comically censored if you don't have an account. What the bleep does this bleeping bleep think they are bleeping well doing, isn't quite as satisfying as reading what the fuck does this cunting twat think they are bloody well doing. 😂

I take the best from both forums - I've had some good parenting advice on Mumsnet in the past when I was struggling to bring up 3 under 4, and I've learnt some exquisite jaw dropping gossip on Tattle.

Growlybear83 · 03/01/2024 21:51

I think the swearing on Mumsnet is unnecessary and over the top, and doesn't add to any of the threads. But each to their own.

Tonight1 · 03/01/2024 22:34

I'm VIP tattle. At first I felt like I was getting too bitchy about people in the public eye so stopped that.

The rest of the forum is hugely supportive and kind to each other.

beanontoast · 04/01/2024 01:35

Changed my mind, Tattle is better because you can mute irritating posters, which I can’t seem to find an option for on here

GandalfTheWhite · 04/01/2024 06:34

I'm not a member of Tattle however I do read the Mrs Hinch threads over there, they have been quite eye opening! And some of the posters are very funny, I've laughed out loud a lot.

Didn't even realise they had forum's for everyday discussion, I thought it was just for celebs and influencers.

Josette77 · 04/01/2024 08:22

I think outing people on anonymous boards is awful. Why would any one encourage that, especially on mumsnet?

I don't imagine many here would be happy to be outed, so not sure why tattle users being outed is ok?

I've read things over there and not sure why people think it's so awful?

People seem fairly supportive over there. It seems like an actual community.

NonPlayerCharacter · 04/01/2024 08:32

I think it does go too far sometimes, to be honest (but going after kids is against the rules), but I rarely look at the influencer/public figure boards as I don't know who most of them are. But as before, it is very friendly among users.

I did have a look at some threads and I've seen quite a few "she's not that bad" posts standing so I'm not convinced those are kill-on-sight.

Mummy2Sienna · 05/01/2024 12:49

I’ve been mostly lurking on Tattle for a long time, some of the posts are really funny but I agree it goes way too far. Lately they seem to be desperate to find people to slag off so are going way beyond their original stated intent of exposing influencers who are fleecing the general public. Have a look at the current Kate Garraway thread: sickening. And for what? She’s harmed no one and now she’s lost her husband they’re all still hurling despicable allegations.

there was another thread about a thread on here earlier in the year where someone’s daughter was gravely ill and then died, someone found the funeral notice which asked for donations to the NHS unit that had treated the daughter and this was used to triumphantly claim that the story had been made up to make money. For an NHS unit. So there are some dangerously hard-of-thinking people on there.

I do wonder what these people do in real life. If they wanted a cause to fight there are so many more important than whether a minor celebrity is or isn’t being slightly duplicitous.

Tonight1 · 05/01/2024 12:57

Ah I didn't know Kate Garraway's husband had died, he fought really hard

I stay away from the celeb and influencers threads. Darius is universally loved however 😁

The rest of the forums are kind and supportive.

That Tattle is better. It's literally the title.

Mummy2Sienna · 05/01/2024 13:23

But why do the responses prove the point? Surely it depends on your point of view? the point can only be proved if you say why Tattle is supposedly better than Mumsnet or vice versa.

it’s a bit sad and ‘my gang’s better than your gang’ tbh. Surely people have more important things to care about?

Tonight1 · 05/01/2024 13:27

I like both MN and tattle. You do get piled on a bit here sometimes, but it's broader based.
