You're way more interested in my history than I am.

But as an aside, other posters...this actually is rather creepy, isn't it?

i’ve got sucked in….!

MaggieNextDoor · 02/01/2024 17:59

Nobody frets about being perceived as anything other than upper middle class either. Probably because most of us are working class oiks. Well, I am, anyway and my DH barely earns 5 figures, let alone 6. Perhaps he's a cock lodger because I earn more? Hmm. Confused

Muthaofcats · 02/01/2024 17:59

I once went on a thread about an annoying mum influencer but when I posted that the comments about her kids were crossing a line I was accused of being the influencer myself and then life time banned! All I did was say calling a baby ugly was going too far and what would that child feel like reading those posts about themselves online when they grow up. This one interaction told me everything I needed to know about the site.

I mean, you’re not wrong but you are not allowed to police the thread. It’s in the rules.

Mine only earns pocket money, high six figures and only gets seven if you add in his meagre yearly bonus. My 2 days a week job only brings in £4000 a month so I'm glad we can just about manage on his pittance.

😁😂

but since when is someone saying that something is unfair is “policing” a thread?

Thebestwaytoscareatory · 02/01/2024 17:57

No, why would it be creepy to look back at someone's previous posts on a public forum?

Depends on why you're doing it and how badly you want them to know you're doing it. When you've already made a failed attempt to horrify them with it and you're now giving a real-time commentary of how you're getting on, well, maybe that's some people's way of showing how well balanced and normal they are, but probably not many people who aren't using the Strangeways WiFi.

rochethenut · 02/01/2024 18:04

ok @NonPlayerCharacter you’ve got quite her up about this so i’ll stop perusing the Dogs on Train thread now! You can kick back now

DungareesAndTrombones · 02/01/2024 18:05

Tattle is disgusting and anyone who posts on it supports vile bullying of babies, children, terminally ill people, suicidal people and people with mental health problems. Absolutely horrible, stalkerish behaviour.

I bet they're David Charlton, strangeways finest.

Maybe I should consider it a public service. I don't think he's had this much fun since the 1990 riot.

But that’s a pretty broad definition of ‘policing the thread’ if what it means is not to ever say anything disagreeing with the majority view. What’s the point in a mindless echo chamber of vitriol? It’s not really a conversation if you ban anyone who steps out of line. Pathetic.

It just depends how you go about it I guess? I’ve disagreed with posters on there and never got a warning.

Also depends which thread you’re on and which user you disagree with 😅 but that’s the same on any forum I’d say.

You’re allowed to disagree with the majority view. You’re not allowed to police the thread even if the comments you’re complaining about are also against the rules - so the comments about kids, which are also against the rules, should’ve been reported.

MaggieNextDoor · 02/01/2024 18:21

I agree that comments about celebrities' children should be removed. Even if their parents use them for Instagram content and monetise them, it's not fair to make remarks about their looks.

On that note, I really think all parents should give their children more privacy on social media. The internet was in its infancy when my DC were small, so there are no photographs online of my brood in the bath, or toddling around in the summer with nothing on but Factor 50. I just have a few albums of photos ready to embarrass them with, should the occasion demand it.

AlwaysGinPlease · 02/01/2024 18:31

I've never seen Tattle but I checked it out today after this thread. There's such nasty stuff that I've never seen here. For instance, Mrs Hinch is demonized. The awful things written about her by so many vicious people. I was pretty shocked. No one is safe it seems. Awful.

I've never seen any modding, but based on the discussions I've seen, my understanding is that "I think Influencer isn't really that bad, after all she donates to charity" would be OK, but "Why are you all discussing Influencer X, leave her alone and get a life" wouldn't be.

Muthaofcats · 02/01/2024 18:48

I said it seemed a step too far to call a baby ugly and how will they feel when they read that in future. That was all I said and was enough to be banned for life, but I saw that as a positive tbh when I realised what kind of forum it was!

The former example would be enough to have you banned and certainly accused of being the person

TattleTalesTattling · 02/01/2024 17:43

Rumour has it us tattlers meet there on a Saturday morning. 10am. Sharp.

should go in the afternoon - lovely cream tea😀

Muthaofcats · 02/01/2024 18:51

I should say that I think the influencer mums are ultimately to blame for turning their children into cash cows without their consent - there are plenty of bullies and losers on the internet so why put your children’s intimate details out there to be abused by people you wouldn’t give 2 seconds to in the street. So tattle ultimately feeds off of those people and would have very little fuel if posting about minors was banned. This was what I initially thought the purpose of tattle was about and why I was first interested - I thought it was discussion about undeclared ads and monetising children but it’s clearly turned into so much more now,

NonPlayerCharacter · 02/01/2024 18:51

Muthaofcats · 02/01/2024 18:49

Really?

Ok then. Like I said, I only recently found out there was any modding at all.

How will they know? Unless the poster announces their arrival from Mumsnet courtesy of me, will Tattle HQ be aware of my treachery?

OTH it's probably not the best idea, I was feeling full of New Year cheer, but I'll retract the offer forthwith.

When you generate a code and give it to someone, they will be linked to your tattle account and tattle mods can see which users you’ve given codes to. If the new user starts causing problems then your account can be banned too as you are technically the one that let them on there

Justanotherdayy · 02/01/2024 18:55

The bullying on here is horrific, I don't know why I keep looking at my daily emails . Some of the things people say to each other on here is vile , half of them seem like stuck up , bored hags, judging and mocking other people , when all they are asking for is advice . I don't think I've ever seen the people on tattle being nasty to each other , ever ( although ive only been on there a handful of times ) .. they all seem to just be having a giggle at certain "influencers" etc who make their living convincing people who can't necessarily afford it , to buy a load of crap they've been paid alot of money to say is great, and giving "cleaning tips" that have turned out to be down right dangerous. I could name the main one I'm thinking of but will probably have post removed or something. It's those people who deserve to be warned and gossiped about , they disgust me , in this time when the cost of living is affecting so many "working class" people , and they think they need to buy these things and feel bad because they cant afford it. You know like affording a mansion with a farm with llamas, because she started off by naming a washing up sponge 🤯 . So yes I agree with you OP . Being here reminds me of being back at school with all the nasty , snotty, "popular" girls talking about you . And if any of the pearl clutchers want to reply to this in their usual mumsnetter sheep manner , I've had enough bullying at school back in the day to last me a lifetime and shan't even bother reading the outraged replies. And by finally saying this, I think my new year resolution is to close my account on here and never ever come back . The world is becoming a very unpleasant place to be , sometimes you can't avoid hearing the worst of humanity. But getting off here is a fecking good place to start . To the others who have the same frame of mind and recognise this place for what it is , a bullying playground for snobs .. life's to short !!! There are other much nicer places to be ✌🏻

OpalOrchid · 02/01/2024 19:04

Bye then.
