Personally I think he's great and he's clearly living his best life but the demographic of the crowd. Middle aged white men and women. The lack of diversity is quite shocking.

He was great. Wasn’t even thinking about diversity but he is a white middle aged guy so what did you expect???

I don’t get Rick Astley. I never heard of his stuff in the 80s and thought he was dire last night. If he was always that bad I’m surprised he’s got anyone in the audience.

Lol. Isn’t the point of late 80s pop that it is so band it is good?

Loved Rick, have seen him live twice (recently) and glad he is living his best life. My kids love him too.

Whatever happened to common sense?

It seems people these days have nothing better than to find a reason, any reason. to be offended...

This is simply the demographic who is interested in seeing him perform.

It makes sense that he attracts middle-aged people who remember him from their youth and are after some nostalgia, ie a very limited audience.

What will you be offended by next?

Will you get offended if you see a majority of teenage girls & women at a One Direction reunion concert and complain that there should be more teenage boys and middle-aged men there? RA is has never been a cool entertainer or a great song writer/singer. His music is bland, manufactured pop. Although of course he come across as a nice, charming guy.

Will you get offended if you see lots of gay men at a Kylie concert because you think there should be more straight people in the audience?

Will you get offended if you see a Norwegian death metal concert with a lot of young people with tattoos and long hair in the audience and complain that there should more pensioners wearing tuxedos and buzz cuts?

Will you get offended if you see a majority of black teens at a Grime concert because you think there should be more white middle aged opera lovers there?

Frankly I would say most black people will have better musical taste and won't want to fangirl over Rick Astley...

Come on Rishi, find Cruella a job, she's snaking around on spreading 'her truth' on MN as she's bored without a job. Take her back. She can job share with Cleverly. She can do xenophobia and he can handle the misogyny brief. A match made in heaven.

When I saw him (actually saw him in 2016 too when I was pregnant, didn’t realise and drunk myself into a stupor Blush) he was even very kind and gracious to the alarming number of women chucking their knickers to him on the stage.

Bon Jovi - another great performer with incredible audience interaction.

Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jess Glynn, Bruno Mars - all of them boring and self indulgent performers. Lady Gaga has a great voice but boy does she love the sound of it talking

Saw Bon Jovi over 30 years ago at Wembley. Amazing!!

Last year seemed to be the year of the concert oldies for us - seeing all the ancients we missed in our youth! Lionel Richie, Human League, Tom Jones, Sting, Blondie - all so good, and put on an excellent show! I don't think Sting has aged at all...!

I was never a Rick Astley fan but I was impressed last night (though that might have been the G&Ts and the Baileys as well 😂)

You're entitled to your opinion but why "bloody awful"? I am usually first one to drag poor performances, but think theirs was v well matched.. ?
But we can agree to differ, not like this stupid stupid race argument (and my partner is black; don't need silly billies putting their so so counterproductive oars in, when there's real racism going on.. in my head original poster is 14 year old middle class girl maybe studying social sciences at school, commenting on something that in actuality she knows absolutely nothing about personally..

Ah, you are perhaps thinking of Vino Veritas. I am stone cold sober. I do not need to be drunk to speak my truth at how sad I am to see what is happening to my country. However, you are boring me now so I will leave you. I am off to read Enoch Powell's Rivers of Blood speech.

I hope there's a grown up to help you with the big words.
