To think that pigs n blankets are too much?

I mean I love pigs and I also adore blankets but together, it feels too much. I like to keep the two totally separate.

It’s almost like combining a good cheddar with a strong French cheese.

As a kid I could live on them! I find today’s pre made versions a bit gross though.

NotToYou · 21/12/2023 21:11

Agree. I like both separately, but not a fan of the pigs in blankets and won't be eating any.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 21/12/2023 21:13

When we were growing up we used to have chipolata sausages and bacon wrapped stuffing, rather than the bacon around the sausages .

I think that's the answer to be honest.

Ha, I see that you are judged unreasonable but FWIW I totally agree with you. I like the skin on sausages to be really crisp, and it can't be if it is wrapped in something, even something as delicious as bacon. Devils, or even better angels, on horseback are far superior.

This.

Doesn't the chocolate melt? Grin

Refuse to believe this blasphemy is legit!

I don't get why this is an AIBU question? If you don't like them, you don't like them, some do, others don't 🤷

JayJayj · 22/12/2023 17:51

I have them with every Sunday dinner. And at Christmas M&S do a chorizo style one and it’s just to die for!!!! I could just eat them as a meal with cranberry sauce

Just a little light hearted thread in the spirit of the season and genuinely curious to know what others think.

I've never been a fan. I like the pigs baked in the oven with some honey and sesame seeds.

FancyFanny · 21/12/2023 17:40

Pigs in blankets are vile! Pale sausages surrounded in fatty bacon! Why?

I refuse to have them on my Christmas dinner- instead I make lovely herby sausage meat stuffing balls and put the bacon in the sprouts.

Whoever cooked those isn't doing it right.

TheCatfordCat · 22/12/2023 18:01

Stick me in front of the telly with a bowl of warm pigs in blankets and I'm very happy indeed.

Cissy1962 · 22/12/2023 18:02

It's personal preference and overindulgence, but everything about Christmas is overindulgence AND personal preference/traditions. So, you do you!

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2023 18:04

I think they've absolute perfection myself.

Stuffed bacon rolls are great also

Weird. You’ve had a ton of opinions.

Thanks Cissy - I most certainly will but I’m at the mercy of a hotel this year and I suspect, ironically, they’ll be on the menu!

I have a non pig-in-blanket related question.

For those who do not like Cauliflower cheese with Christmas Dinner, do you like bread sauce? I adore the mix of cheesy sauce and gravy, however I do not do fruity condiments (cranberry / apple sauce) but English mustard, cheese sauce and gravy is divine!

OhcantthInkofaname · 22/12/2023 18:07

I'm in the US and I'm not sure what you're discussing when you talk pigs in blankets. When we talk about pigs in blankets we talk about cocktail weenies wrapped with crescent dough or puff pastry. So simple it's an appetizer we allow children to take part in baking.

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2023 18:08

Cocktail sausages wrapped in streaky bacon

Ours are proper little sausages - less processed than weenies - wrapped in streaky bacon. Salty, greasy, savoury deliciousness.

mrsbyers · 21/12/2023 16:58

Usually made with smoked bacon so not a fan

This is exactly why I make my own. Takes minutes.

SnapdragonToadflax · 22/12/2023 18:13

They're the only way I like bacon, so I disagree. Delicious things.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 22/12/2023 18:14

I concur, wholeheartedly. Streaky bacon, bleugh, I prefer my pigs minus blankets. Still gotta have them on the table though, 😆

tiggergoesbounce · 22/12/2023 18:15

Awww they are fabulous. I love them and we have already eaten more than is probably healthy for the christmas period. They have accompanied most meals 😋
