Has anyone watched the BBC interview this morning?
AIBU to think there is no way the pair of them are convincing anyone that they have done nothing wrong?

Just watched it….I can’t decide whether they

  1. Genuinely believe they have don’t nothing wrong…which to me is unfathomable…but there has to be something in them that makes them think people will sympathise with blatantly unethical (at best) and/or corrupt (at worst) behaviour and series of events. Or..
  2. They are so inherently corrupt and egotistical that they think they can “fool” the British public with such an embarrassing display of “woe is me”. Nothing about that interview was “genuine”.
i thought LK did a good job…she asked them the right questions and they gave horrendous flimsy embarrassing answers…she really didn’t need to do anything else…they hung themselves out to dry. im really disappointed in Michelle Mone…she had such great potential to be a great female role model. I watched that interview and felt like I was being gaslit!

I was a bit peeved with Kuennsburg, I thought she went far too easy on them.

They constantly bleated about how they had merely 'followed advice' - well, who gave you that advice? What did you think of it at the time? You're both experienced people, did 'the advice' really pass the sniff test? Really really?

I'd have liked her to follow up the 'followed advice' excuse.

She's always been a very Tory friendly interviewer

Roussette · 17/12/2023 19:25

The interview was on a par with Andrew's carcrash interview. They will come to regret it big time.

I could not believe how shameless they were.

"The money isn't mine, it's Doug's"

"I have done nothing wrong"

30% creamed off is profiteering in a national crisis. They are disgusting and I hope this comes back to bite them on the arse. They must think the general public are stupid not to see through their pity party.
(They did an hour long video last week too.... funded by PPE Medpro - i.e. us

IsThePopeCatholic · 17/12/2023 19:31

She is from the same stable as Nadine dorries. Horrendous women .

LuluBlakey1 · 17/12/2023 19:33

So presumably they are returning the tens of millions of public money they were paid for supplying shit PPE that was useless. Never mind the lying.

Dianalouise · 17/12/2023 19:34

Do we think Barrowman has a watertight pre-nup in place to make sure MM is not entitled to half the marital assets? How romantic 😂

Also her point on “oh I just did what the cabinet office told me to do” is disgusting. She’s in a position of huge responsibility for the safeguarding of this country and doesn’t seem to understand what a conflict of interest is?? I’m frankly horrified that anyone in a position of public office “doesn’t understand their responsibilities” Come on….

also…”oh money wasn’t the main motivator…we just wanted to help”. 😂😂😂

I bet @clavonova believes them.

EveWinter · 17/12/2023 19:35

Completely agree. It is MM who signs up to abide by the CofC which is here for all to see, read and understand.

Makes it extremely clear, if she isn’t bright enough to digest it and apply the singular principle of honesty herself (never mind the rest of it) I’m sure that the senior Clerk of the Lords would have assisted.

People of her life and business experience choose not to declare out of reasons other than naivety.

The pair of them are thoroughly corrupt.

ArcaneWireless · 17/12/2023 19:44

also…”oh money wasn’t the main motivator…we just wanted to help”. 😂😂😂

We just wanted to help ourselves

Sidebeforeself · 17/12/2023 19:44

What’s disgusting me most is the constant reference to the pain and suffering their families have endured and how their lives have been ruined….Can you imagine if Kate Garraway has been able to interview them , what she might have had to say about that?!

Roussette · 17/12/2023 19:44

An article from the Independent (the link is perfectly safe, I archived it because it is behind a paywall)

The Michelle Mone interview was the worst PR comeback since Prince Andrew is the headline

thatone · 17/12/2023 19:46

Her arguments about wanting to protect her family were utterly ridiculous. That is no defence at all and it all came across a bit like Dominic Cummings and his eye test (but worse). It was trying to make absolute fools of the public.

Northernsouloldies · 17/12/2023 19:49

She fucked up, hopefully the other crooks who got ppe contracts to their mates are highlighted can only assume some juicy backhanders were dished out.

Roussette · 17/12/2023 20:02

Yep. She says that she can’t see what she has done wrong, nor her husband. She was thinking about her family. Not yours, not mine, hers. Remarkable TV.

Beaverbridge · 17/12/2023 20:06

Pair of them should be jailed. He was barely containing his rage. Lying scum.

GrumpyOldCrone · 17/12/2023 20:16

Well, she admits she made a mistake. Maybe she could start putting it right by donating the TWENTY-NINE MILLION POUNDS profit that she made on the useless PPE. And also her husband’s share of the profit which, I think, was a further £31 MILLION. Is that too much to ask? Or would that somehow leave her precious children unprotected?

I think the custom is that people have to actually be prosecuted and convicted based on evidence before they are jailed.

As if we don't know that... Hmm

What crime is it that people want her to go to prison for? I'm not aware that making a profit is a crime?

And why are people so quick to believe what they read in the press?

You clearly have no idea what happened with MM, so why comment/accuse people of stuff? What's that about?Confused

Hapagirl48 · 17/12/2023 20:38

They dripped with insincerity. I think LK did okay, she didn’t need to do much, they were digging their own grave. There is no way anyone that business savvy didn’t know what they were doing was corrupt / immoral. Her trying to play victim, him blaming everything on legal counsel. How many times did she say “God forbid” to try and garner some sympathy ?🤮

fiftiesmum · 17/12/2023 20:43

Presumably barrowman has to ring fence the money for his four children he had prior to marrying MM.
He says he has paid tax - isn't he in the isle of man where the tax is different to the mainland.

jemenfous37 · 17/12/2023 20:51

@user284246975787632445 You are being deliberately obtuse. They are not facing charges for making a profit, rather supplying goods not fit for purpose and not refunding money. Plus a few other morally reprehensible action, such as lying through their teeth

LindorDoubleChoc · 17/12/2023 20:56

Well, that's Capitalism and the current Tory Government for you. Just revolting. I hope they can't sleep at night.
