The only reason I can think of for her to be so "Shameless" is that she knows a few other people/profiteers who gone done the same thing too; either it's 'acceptable' in her circles/networks or she's got a lot of dirt on some other people.

Look into how Doug Barrowman made his fortune. The £60m his company made from PPE probably pales into insignificance compared to the amount he will have made from his “offshore loan schemes”. HMRC applied the thumb screws to the “little people” involved but not sure anything happened to Doug even though he devised and promoted the schemes. He probably didn’t think that a £60M profit on a £200M contract was out of the way.

I'm watching it now and the argument she's putting forward to try to explain why she doesn't currently have the multiple millions is absurd!! She will get that money. Fucking millions of it! And she's sitting there looking all sad and mournful and 'My husband could divorce me and I wouldn't see a penny'. WTAF? I think Laura Kuennsburg is being far too soft on them. They're acting like a pair of victims. THAT WAS TAXPAYER MONEY!!!!!

The way the Baroness played the victim, and said she didn't know what they'd done wrong and they were being scapegoated, was disgusting and shameless.

I think the Mones wanted to very publicly plant that rumour about being elicited to bribe a govt official. I have no idea if it is true, it may very well be; our establishment seems to me to be depressingly awash with liars, thieves and charlatans.

Laura K was fine, she emulated Emily Maitlis - give them enough rope and watch them hang themselves. I got much crosser when she kept talking across Wes Streeting.

That bit about a civil servant and a bribe: I wonder if there’s a possibility it could equally be recounted as a civil servant saying to Doug Barrowman: “ did I just hear you right? Did you seriously just suggest to me that you could pay some money to make the whole investigation disappear? 🤯”

an attempt to get the defence in before any possible bribery report becomes public knowledge maybe…. Or as the Queen once said, “recollections may vary”. 🤣

I was a bit peeved with Kuennsburg, I thought she went far too easy on them.

They constantly bleated about how they had merely 'followed advice' - well, who gave you that advice? What did you think of it at the time? You're both experienced people, did 'the advice' really pass the sniff test? Really really?

I'd have liked her to follow up the 'followed advice' excuse.

I read somewhere else a slightly different slant on the story. They were in mediation over the PPE contract. In the interview I read, Doug claims someone suggested if he paid more money in to settle the PPE contract, then they might be able to make “the other matter” go away. This has now become the official asking for a bribe in the LK interview.
