According to recent threads:

Everyone over the age of about 35 looks way younger, constantly mistaken for younger, doesn't have a line on their face yet despite never using suncream, and their nan only used bin juice on their face and smoked 80 fags a day but had beautiful skin at 103 years old.

Everyone had sex with their complete stranger dp within about 4 seconds of meeting them for the first time, their dp moved in that night and never left and they're coming up to 762 years of happy marriage now.

Everybody on here seems to earn 200k in some mysterious job that doesn't seem to exist, they can't quite explain what they do, but they worked their asses off to get to this level of seniority which involves them working 3 hours a week for 2 weeks a year.

Interested to hear any more.

Smooth underarms are essential, but if you choose to remove your pubic hair, you are the work of the devil and will be burned at the stake 👹.

And any man willing to have sex with you is obviously a deviant paedophile who is only sleeping with you so he can fantasise about screwing a toddler (presumably a 10 stone toddler with big tits).

NonPlayerCharacter · 17/12/2023 17:17

a 10 stone toddler with big tits

I think that's in the next Stephen King book.

That it’s totally fine to partner with a man who has DC and then treat his DC with the indifference contempt you would a stranger, because all blended families are different, and anyway no one can stop you.

Edited

Which stepparent threads are you reading?! They usually go the opposite way, all SM are wicked stepmothers unless they treat their SC better than their own children and sacrifice all their needs and wants to said SC.

Every woman will suffer from pre-menopausal symptoms that are a near death experience and will come out the other side nothing more than a dried husk.

Ah, I'm bucking the trend there. I've managed to become a dried husk without any symptoms at all!

LunaTheCat · 17/12/2023 20:12

Lots of the above… also that severe health anxiety is extremely common and that medicine offered no treatment. I really feel for those posters.

LunaTheCat · 17/12/2023 20:15

…forgot to add that it mainly affects woman, so it is ignored. I am a GP and our anxiety disorders service refuses to accept referrals heath anxiety 😡😡… it’s so incapacitating yet I think if it affected men there would be more treatment. End of rant.

XenoBitch · 17/12/2023 20:31

That anyone with a toddler will witness them get bowled over like a skittle by a loose dog every time they leave the house.

All cafes, and branches of John Lewis are heaving with dogs all barking at each other and pissing in the aisles.

Every physical or mental health niggle can be put down to Covid or perimenopause.

All husbands/partners that fall short of perfect must be ND. Also, all men are assholes anyway.

If you are struggling for money, then you can just take in ironing or be a Deliveroo driver.

One glass of wine a week means you are a raging alcoholic.

For posters like this anything falling short of putting the SC on a pedestal is ‘indifference’. IME.

They’re usually quick to say that the SC were there first and will, occasionally, come right out and say that makes them more important than any younger children.

These posters usually also insist that the SM is more responsible for the SC than either parent, because she ‘knew what she was getting in to’.

Tueresmuyguapo · 17/12/2023 21:13

I applied for Deliveroo but got rejected due to high demand 😂

Absolute bollox . Never seen anyone say anything of the sort.

It's super easy to make some cash quickly by posting an add for babysitting and cleaning. Also people apparently are willing to just hire random people to wrap their presents?

AppleCrispMacchiato · 17/12/2023 22:04

There's some random woman named Liz who is worse than Hitler, and everyone should obsessively stalk her every movement 24/7 to pick apart every single facet of her appearance, face, body, clothes, everything she says and does, because obviously a total stranger being a bit obnoxious on social media is Pure Evil and the logical solution isn't to stop looking at her social media, but to devote your life to following her.

(And no, I am not her, I'd never heard of her before I wondered who this Liz person was who had so many Mumsnet threads about her and clicked on a couple out of curiosity. Still confused as to why, when there are zillions of influencers/bloggers who are obnoxious narcissists, this random person who seems no better or worse than any other influencer inspires such an obsessive following on MN.)

Also it's not okay to start threads devoted to bashing anyone and any threads that are negative towards celebs are deleted as not in the spirit, unless it's Meghan Markle or Liz Fraser because they're both Literal Satan so crack on.

And ironing. Loads of people willing to hand over all of their expensive clothes to some random person with no proper business, no website, and no reviews.

(There's a great Mumsnet heist movie to be made about an all-female gang who set up fake services to "take in ironing" in wealthy areas then make off with £££££ of Prada and Armani.)

I had someone suggest I babysit to raise funds. I am childfree and am 100% clueless when it comes to kids. They did not know that, but it made me laugh anyway.

Years ago I would gladly have paid someone to do this.

I've actually wrapped presents at the mall for several years. It van be good fun sometimes. And I totally understand that wrapping presents is a pain in the ass at home. I still don't understand how putting up a post to the local fb groups "I'll wrap your presents for £×/h" will be a quick and easy way to get customers and make £1k 😅
Cause people are totally happy to have a random stranger at their house or willing to drop presents off.
Or putting up/taking down Christmas decorations was another seasonal one. Or ironing as pp pointed out. Or a cleaner that's not with an an actual company and you don't know them. All the time people here write how they won't leave their kids with the grandparents. But apparently people are suddenly totally willing to hire someone based on a local fb post 😅

StarlightLady · 18/12/2023 12:24

I’ve learned from MN just today that men have a higher sex drive than women. Nothing to do with poor male performance and unplanned pregnancy risk not encouraging us then 😀.

MN is riddled with posts from women wanting more sex and wanting better sex.

KimberleyClark · 18/12/2023 12:28

Adult children should never be expected to pay for meals out or contribute to Christmas, even when they are working and have their own homes.

CagneyAndLazy · 18/12/2023 12:33

That many women are with utterly shit, useless waste-of-space partners/husbands and think it's absolutely normal and "Well they all do that, so..."

(Absolutely not talking about women trapped in abusive relationships, to be clear.)

I always find the whole should pay/how to split the bill/can you charge people at your house/what you need to offer at the pub if it is your birthday etc.

People on MN seem to have very different 'rules' that we have in our social circle.

Rewis · 18/12/2023 20:57

At 16 you're practically adult and therefore can do whatever you want and parents have no say.

At 14 everyone gets drunk and loses their virginity

At 12 you are way too young to walk outside by yourself or stay home alone after school

Tueresmuyguapo · 18/12/2023 22:52

It's considered cool to finally 'get round ' to marrying after 29 years together, wearing only a bin bag, because people who want some level of commitment are unreasonable, as marriage is only a piece of paper.
