DH at woman's house after Xmas night out

My DH was on his Xmas night out tonight. Started quite early and he said he'd be home about 11pm - did and does not matter to met at all that he decided to extend it to a big night.

I text at 1.50am to check all was okay, and he asked me to call him asap.

As I understand it, one of the women got so incredibly drunk that she was very ill and unsafe. Spewing and falling over as she made her way into a taxi. My DH has gone home with her to check she was okay

She's now passed out on her floor, having been sick everywhere. He says he's covered in her sick. He doesn't want to leave her because she lives alone and he's not sure that she's safe.

He thinks he should stay until morning,or until she wakes up at least.

What would your DH do in that situation?

Poor girl and what an awful end to the night out for both her and your DH. Your DH is an absolute star and a thoroughly decent bloke. Fair play to him and to you going over to check she is ok.

kiwiaddict · 10/12/2023 05:38

I'd tell my husband to stay, look after her and I'd sort out his vomit clothes in the morning, but I trust him so it's down to your feelings tbh

Sexlivesofthepotatomen · 10/12/2023 05:22

Well as he has now left and gone home, it won't be a problem no?

Depends how long he was their alone with her for. Calling the wife, curve ball?

Starrystarryshite · 10/12/2023 06:02

Threads like this with some replies really make me think people are so naive about drugs and drink. She wasn’t spiked. That’s not how you act when you’ve been spiked or how drugs react in your body.

Anyway, I think you did a good thing OP by going to help. It sounds like it was definitely needed. I hope you and your DH get some well deserved rest in the morning

Bobtheamazinggingerdog · 10/12/2023 06:05

Drink spiking drugs don't make people vomit everywhere generally that's not the goal of spiking. Alcohol can hit you hard if you've not eaten properly and drink too fast. Sounds like she just overdid it and will feel awful in the morning.

You think this man took the chance while his colleague was vomiting everywhere to rape her then called his wife to come over to cover it up?! Ok...

IAmAnIdiot123 · 10/12/2023 05:03

Sounds like she has been spiked OP, I'm glad your DH (and you!) were there to help her!

How?

Passingthethyme · 10/12/2023 06:10

I'm sure I'm going against the grain, but your DH sounds like a good guy. I'd maybe put her on the couch, cover in a blanket and leave. I don't think an adult will die if left alone drunk. Perhaps he could call another colleague but it sounds a bit late for that

Passingthethyme · 10/12/2023 06:12

YouBelongWithMe · 10/12/2023 03:44

I've gone over. She's in bed, wildly drunk but able to speak. Not in any danger. By the amount of vomit all over her house, there's nothing left in her anyway. Poor girl, what a thing to walk up to.

I've collected DH (who was sat in his trousers and a towel, she'd been so sick through his shirt he had to take it off) and he's now showering it off

What a night.

Sorry missed this. You both sound like really great people. It sounds like this girl may have had her drink spiked if she was that wasted. Glad you were both there to help

Drugs used to spike drinks don't make people vomit. She's drunk, not spiked.

jemenfous37 · 10/12/2023 06:29

@WandaWonder What a trite, mean little thing to say. On face value, the OP is supportive of her DH who is actually being a gentleman to a woman in distress, and the OP is trying to ensure that both arexsafe on all levels.

Yes they do. My drink has been spiked before and I vomited in the Uber on the way home. It's irrelevant whether or not she was spiked, it just seemed like it by OPs description of the place and her. Unless she drank a whole bottle of vodka or something and it didn't sound like she did.

ohdamnitjanet · 10/12/2023 06:33

What lovely people you and your husband are, absolutely the right and decent thing to do. A very good deed done! Another vote for the possibility of her being spiked. Hope all ok this morning.

jemenfous37 · 10/12/2023 06:34

@Passingthethyme You are very naiive. Of course drunk people can die if not watched. They can choke on their own vomit, roll on their back and swallow their tongue...

organicbox · 10/12/2023 06:34

I think you and your husband are lovely and did exactly the right thing.

Poor girl. That will take a while to get over.

Justhereforaibu1 · 10/12/2023 06:43

You've got a good one there OP. I think my husband would do the same or I'd like to think anyway! Hope you both catch up on some sleep today. Would love to know about the aftermath!

Itsaselectionbox · 10/12/2023 07:07

The world needs more people like you two OP.

Relaxd · 10/12/2023 07:11

Good you went round - there is sadly also the risk he could get accused of all sorts if he’d stayed over alone.

BelindaOkra · 10/12/2023 07:14

Mine would stay & I’d probably advise him to call 111 if she’s that out of it to make sure she doesn’t need medical attention. Asking an ambulance to come immediately because gasp a man is with a woman is ridiculous pressure on the ambulance service. Ringing 111 is entirely appropriate.

As she comes round he can settle her (she’ll be mortified I’m sure) with a cup of tea/glass of water - and head off home. Smelling of sick. Nice.

BelindaOkra · 10/12/2023 07:14

Oh I should have read thread!

Edited

They weighed the risks. She had clearly stopped vomiting by the point of than leaving and had nothing left so choking not a risk. I’m sure they’d have put her on her side too.

The NHS are not there to find a bed to babysit a drunk woman who got too bladdered on her work night out. At this point, she’s in a safe place with nothing left in her stomach, she will be fine. In fact, I’m actually willing to bet that she’ll wake up fresher than most since she brought ball the drink up.

olympicsrock · 10/12/2023 07:17

Well done both of you

What in earth is wrong with you?

Billybagpuss · 10/12/2023 07:19

hope she’s ok will you check on her this morning?

Wisdomisnotwise · 10/12/2023 07:20

I mean it's hours later now but just ring an ambulance and leave her alone. Regardless of people laughing at the idea that is an incredibly vulnerable position to put himself in. He should have called an ambulance and left immediately.
