DH at woman's house after Xmas night out

YouBelongWithMe · 10/12/2023 02:24

My DH was on his Xmas night out tonight. Started quite early and he said he'd be home about 11pm - did and does not matter to met at all that he decided to extend it to a big night.

I text at 1.50am to check all was okay, and he asked me to call him asap.

As I understand it, one of the women got so incredibly drunk that she was very ill and unsafe. Spewing and falling over as she made her way into a taxi. My DH has gone home with her to check she was okay

She's now passed out on her floor, having been sick everywhere. He says he's covered in her sick. He doesn't want to leave her because she lives alone and he's not sure that she's safe.

He thinks he should stay until morning,or until she wakes up at least.

What would your DH do in that situation?

Neighbours?

WhatNoUsername · 10/12/2023 03:31

My DH would stay with my blessing. I would be appalled if he left a person in that state. She could die if she chokes on her vomit.

Why has he "covered up" the vomit? Why doesn't he just clear it up. Obviously a horrible job but worse to be sat/sleeping next to stinking vomit all night!

ChimneyPot · 10/12/2023 03:32

If she has passed out and can’t be roused he needs to call an ambulance.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 10/12/2023 03:32

I would ring an ambulance and get her seen to as not good if she cannot be woken and is so drunk and out of it.

Tilllly · 10/12/2023 03:33

Thank goodness he's there

Go help him if you can, OP

JustMoved123 · 10/12/2023 03:33

Another vote that he’s making himself vulnerable, my friends son did this for a girl in uni, phoned her parents and then the father had a go at him for being in her room when she was vulnerable..

JANEY205 · 10/12/2023 03:34

Call an ambulance. He’s left himself so so vulnerable to accusations and I’d be so worried. Why could a female colleague not have also taken her home?! Taking her to her house is a major over step!

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 10/12/2023 03:36

lots of drunks actually get into trouble because they get cold (hypothermia) so off the floor is best even if it's a duvet on the carpet.
then there is the aspiration risk so side positioned with pillows to maintain being on their side.
i'd certainly toy with calling an ambulance as it's dangerous taking on the risk (people do occasionally die/slip into a coma) and a work colleague would have zero knowledge of underlying conditions and any medications they may be on.
while waiting for the ambulance i'd consider running the washer dryer depending what items of clothing she puked on, i'd also call for a second person to attest to the situation.
good luck to him.

He’s covered in the vomit, not covered it up.

I've gone over. She's in bed, wildly drunk but able to speak. Not in any danger. By the amount of vomit all over her house, there's nothing left in her anyway. Poor girl, what a thing to walk up to.

I've collected DH (who was sat in his trousers and a towel, she'd been so sick through his shirt he had to take it off) and he's now showering it off

What a night.

Neighbours?

Can you imagine going to a neighbours house covered in the person's vomit at 2 am asking them to come and sit with someone pissed surrounded by and covered in their own vomit. My answer would be a firm no if I answered the door ay that time.😂

LittleGlowingOblong · 10/12/2023 03:51

Well done for going round.

that sounds awful!

I’d have called an ambulance 3 hours ago but it’s probably one of the busiest nights of the year for them so your DH has taken a hit for the community.

It’s often the lightest drinkers who get most drunk at Christmas, how very mortifying for her though.

YouBelongWithMe · 10/12/2023 03:56

Yeah DH says she didn't drink more than anyone else and isn't the type to go mad. It's just hit her hard tonight. They got a lift back from another colleague's partner and the poor girl has puked her insides up in his new car 😬😬 how mortifying.

For an earlier poster, they were a tight team if nine, know each other very well. She won't have been freaked out by his presence (to whatever extent she was aware!).

Anyway, off to bed. Thanks everyone.

She might even have been spiked

If he’s so full of integrity OP why the misleading title hinting at something untoward?

The title is 100% factual.

PurpleFlower1983 · 10/12/2023 04:58

Well done to you both OP, hope the poor girl is ok this morning! 😬🥂

IAmAnIdiot123 · 10/12/2023 05:03

Sounds like she has been spiked OP, I'm glad your DH (and you!) were there to help her!

justanothermanicmonday1 · 10/12/2023 05:08

Good for you OP. She will be a very sorry girl tomorrow 🤣🤢

Tighginn · 10/12/2023 05:10

If she is blackout drunk and wakes up with a man in her house, this could be a worry for all concerned.

Tighginn · 10/12/2023 05:12

Tilllly · 10/12/2023 04:38

She might even have been spiked

Or been on a 12 hour bender?

Tilllly · 10/12/2023 05:13

@Tighginn yes
But OPs DH said she'd only drunk what others had, so I wondered

Loonancy · 10/12/2023 05:22

Wow. Almost an opportunity for a couple of "what a nice guy" comments....

But it's MN so nope....

Well as he has now left and gone home, it won't be a problem no?

ZebraD · 10/12/2023 05:28

Make sure to check on her tomorrow
