To feel sad my friend got Botox?

Now her smile doesn't reach her eyes. I LOVED her smiley eyes, she had a really twinkly grin. I guess she was insecure about her crow's feet and got injections to get rid of them. And now she looks sort of wide-eyed and frozen and it just makes me sad! She doesn't look like herself any more.

She's incredibly naturally beautiful, classic Grace Kelly looks, and an amazing bone structure. So she would have aged beautifully I'm sure, without needing injectables.

I know it's none of my business really. And I'd never say anything negative to her. And I know Botox doesn't last forever and she may well not get it done again. But AIBU at feeling a little bit sad at the loss of my friend's lovely warm smile?

Clearly some choices are not good for women. Like facilitating fathers not taking flexibility at work or buying in to the male gaze.

I worry about my friends injecting poison into their heads when the long term effects cannot have been properly tested.

Hasn’t Botox been around for yonks in terms of medical use?

You might not like the effect but Botox has been injected into millions and millions of people for over 35 years. The amount that can be safely injected into children with spasticity in their limbs is up to 340 units. The average dose to treat an adult’s forehead is less than 30 units- or ten times less. It’s an incredibly safe treatment. The worst that happens if you get genuine Botox is a temporarily wonky face.

You don’t have to dress it up as sadness. You can just be judgemental. It’s anonymous. Why does it matter?

Baby Botox is the way to go, not full on frozen , doesn’t look good , but will wear off eventually

I wouldn't feel depressed about this any more than depressed about my friend getting an anti-ageing facial or highlights or invisalign. Yes I would be sad if they got really extreme plastic surgery but that's completely different to having any small cosmetic treatment.
