Do you sleep naked?

Was chatting with my friend and I mentioned how I sleep naked, she found this completely shocking which I found quite funny tbh 😂 so just wondered if I’m in the minority or not.

I can’t bear sleeping in clothes. If I have to because sharing a room I am so uncomfortable. I sleep naked or with pants on.

JosieRay · 07/12/2023 21:13

Always. Can’t bear pyjamas rucking up every time I turn over.

Borborygmus · 07/12/2023 21:25

Always naked. I don't even own any pyjamas, and haven't for at least 27 years.

QuinionsRainbow · 14/12/2023 17:15

Birthday suits since age about 10 for both of us. Coupled with 4.5 tog duvet except in the height of summer, when cotton cellular blanket /sheet combo, or just the sheet alone, suffices.

PeanutFlipp · 18/11/2024 14:11

Seems I’m late to the party. But let me weigh in with ‘naked’! Always naked. There’s no other way to sleep! ☺️

Penguinfeet24 · 18/11/2024 14:20

I cannot sleep in clothes, I get too hot, they annoy me and I just can't be doing it. Naked as the day I was born!

cranberryhaddock · 18/11/2024 14:49

How do those who sleep naked and have DC get around the issue of DC coming into the bedroom if they're not a 'let it all hang out' type family so to speak? Not trying to be provocative, but I don't have DC myself and have always wondered that.

Couldn’t agree more. Go to bed naked, sleep naked, wake up naked. Make our morning coffee naked. Take my (naked) husband coffee naked. When it’s his turn, get served coffee naked by a naked husband! Who could argue with that? 🤣

I did not know sleeping naked was as common as this thread suggests! I'm firmly a pyjama wearer as well as thick bedsocks and a hot water bottle for about 2/3 of the year as I'm always cold. But even when hot I'd never sleep naked, it just feels so... naked!

For those that sleep naked what do you do when on period or breastfeeding? Also if you sleep naked do you always shower in the evening? So many questions!

I do wear knickers with a pad when on my period.
I nearly always shower or bath before bed, wash the day away before sleep.

Can’t speak for everyone but my answers to your questions are as follows:

When periods strike is the obvious exception. Pants and Tampax! When mother nature attacks your slacks!

I shower regularly but for many years I’ve found I don’t sweat at all when sleeping nude because being nude allows my body to regulate its temperature properly.

As for getting cold, we all run at different temperatures. But I’ve found sleeping nude has what I call the ‘wet suit’ effect. Your body temperature heats up the bedding rather than overheating in what you’re wearing leading to a nice even temperature. It’s cold for about 3 minutes, then you’re warm as toast. Its not scientifically proven, its just me ☺️

That being said, I sometimes wear socks. My feet get cold no matter what.

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 21/11/2024 01:06

It depends on the temperature and the time of the month for me. Dh always sleeps in his birthday suit.

I sleep in various states depending on the temperature, my mood etc but when I sleep naked...I no longer have periods (don't get envious, I'd rather have periods back & menopause fuck right off!). I'd wear knickers & a pad,

I couldn't sleep as you do, except when camping, but even then I'd wake in the night far too hot.

always (at least) pants in strange beds (unless, of course, there's a compelling reason to have them removed!!)

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 21/11/2024 01:21

OK another question what if you have young kids that are prone to coming into your bed in the middle of the night? Surely in that phase of life you'd take to at least wearing tshirt and underwear?

I don't know why I'm so curious tbh, I just didn't realise it was such a norm.

I’m in my 40s now, but when sister and l were kids, M and D slept naked. Bodies were never an issue at home. Mum used to tell us there was nothing wrong or bad about bodies, but beware of bad prople.

Same with money. We had no central heating. In winter, they did use dressing gowns outside of the bed, but only in winter.

I do not miss ice on the inside of the windows.

EBearhug · 21/11/2024 09:45

*Same with mine, that should have said.

We're well past this stage now, but when DCs were little, some three or four decades go, and inclined to migrate from their own beds to ours in the early hours, they invariably found us clad as nature intended! Although we were never a rampantly exhibitionist household, we were always very open about bodies, and DCs learned from a very early age that birthday suits were likely to be encountered not just in bathrooms, bedrooms and places in-between, but also in beds, and that this was entirely natural and nothing to be ashamed of.

If your DCs are anything like ours, though, the biggest issue is likely to be that once they gain access to your bedroom (and your bed) on their terms rather than yours, they are likely to want to follow your sartorial example, so be prepared for some serious negotiation as to if/when/where/how this is acceptable. It's a phase that passes - bed-hopping toddler offspring grow up into teens, who generally prefer the privacy of their own bedrooms!

I concur with PeanutFlip because she sleeps next me. We both sleep nude, but when her feet are cold she puts them on me. Problem solved....for her 😂

Never sleep naked.
If I ever need rescuing in the night I don't need a fireman to whip back the duvet and say "I ain't touching that" 😂😂

🤣🤣🤣

Yes. Sometimes I'll go to bed wearing PJs but I nearly always wake up at some point, roasting hot, and have to remove them. No matter how cold the bedroom is.

Give in to the 'wet suit' effect! You'll never look back! 😁

I don’t sleep naked, doesn’t feel hygienic to me. If I’m going to scratch my arse in my sleep I’d rather there was some fabric covering it.
