Frozen pizza

To buy a frozen pizza. Are they all rubbish tasting soggy messes or are there any that are any good?

Crosta and Mollica are lovely!

RocketPanda · 06/12/2023 17:13

I like the Chicago Town tiger bread crust one. I'm not really a pizza lover though.

Watchthedoormat · 06/12/2023 17:14

Tesco stuffed crust cheese one

Yetanothernamechangeagain · 06/12/2023 17:15

Another vote for crosta and mollica

CurlewKate · 06/12/2023 17:16

I'm sorry to be "that person" but it really is incredibly easy to make pizza. And it freezes well,

It is easy but I find it incredibly time consuming and boring rolling out all the bases and then cooking them on rotation so buy them. Maybe OP is the same.

Crosta and Mollica are lovely!

These are absolutely the best ever!

Chocoswirl · 06/12/2023 17:24

LOL. I have never met a pizza I didn’t like!

They will not be soggy if you cook them on the wire rack in the oven. Any supermarket brand is fine but get one from the ‘best’ range if you will feel better about it.
Enjoy 😉

SurelySmartie · 06/12/2023 17:25

Thanks wouldn’t have thought of those to try.

Re making own I don’t think it’s easy to make a proper nice base! They never turn out that well from scratch for me. Also time consuming with prep in advance.

@PuffPastryFluff Fair enough- but even I, with the attention span of a gnat, don't get bored rolling out two pizzas-one to eat and
one to freeze!

HighlandCowSaysBooNotMoo · 06/12/2023 17:26

My kids are sharing a GoodFellas thin crust one right now. (It's easy tea night, bite me.. ) and looks tasty to me

CurlewKate · 06/12/2023 17:35

@SurelySmartie I agree it's hard to make one as good as a proper restaurant one at home but mine are always better than supermarket frozen! I make the dough in a food processor in the morning, then rise it in the fridge all day. Worth a try!

OrganicAlchemy · 06/12/2023 17:39

I prefer the 'cheap and nasty' ones because I feel its less of a comparison to a 'proper' pizza, I love the fluffy based margarita pizza fingers or the Chicago town deep dish ones - served with baked beans and too much ketchup 😋

PeloMom · 06/12/2023 17:40

I like the dr Oetker ones as I prefer thin crust

vodkawipes · 06/12/2023 17:41

Ristorante!

drawingmaps · 06/12/2023 17:41

I prefer buying fresh ones and freezing them, I usually cut them in half before freezing in case it's just one person eating

LakeTiticaca · 06/12/2023 17:42

The sainsbury's ones they make in store are pretty good 👍

purser25 · 06/12/2023 17:43

Crostata and Mollica not the cheapest but by far the best

CacenCaws · 06/12/2023 17:43

The Chicago town ones are good as is the cheesy garlic bread. They are 2 for £5 in Asda

Well my greedy lot of teens have x2 size fits on my oven tray each and there's x4 of them so that's a lot of rolling and a lot of hanging about heating trays etc.

When I use shop ones that's x4 and they all go in the oven at the same time.

Maybe you are feeding far fewer people. All cooking is easier when this is the case.

CharityShopChic · 06/12/2023 17:49

The Co-Op ones in the black boxes are nice, quite spendy though and oval shaped rather than round. They do a nice mozzarella and sundried tomato one.

FatOaf · 06/12/2023 17:50

Why does it need to be frozen, OP? When are you planning to eat it? Most supermarkets sell freshly made pizzas, and all sell chilled rather than frozen ones.

Just got one of these tonight, reduced to £2 👍🏽😋 Yum!

Yawn!
the whole point of pizza is that it’s a quick and easy dinner that requires no preparation when you’re in a rush. Making pizza needs several hours to kneed and prove dough, and not to mention slow cooking one’s homemade tomato sauce.
i find the best way to prevent frozen pizza from going soggy is to preheat a pizza oven tray (one with holes in) and cook it on that.

ThinWomansBrain · 06/12/2023 18:00

Crosta and Mollica are great

Waitrose have started stocking one called "Momma" something that always seems to be on offer for £2 - oddly the Margarita has dollops of pesto on it, but perfectly OK if I can't be bothered to cook.
