To buy a frozen pizza. Are they all rubbish tasting soggy messes or are there any that are any good?

I like Asda's takeaway stuffed crust. The chicken and bacon one is delicious.

It's about the only shop bought pizza I can stomach.

The Zizzi ones are fab. You can get them in Tesco.

I'm sorry to be "that person" but it really is incredibly easy to make pizza. And it freezes well,

Yeah but you'd need to buy in lots of ingredients and it won't have the tasty processed chemicals in it

GoodVibesHere · 06/12/2023 18:43

I love a Dr Oetker funghi (though it does leave me thirsty so I suspect lots of salt).

SurelySmartie · 06/12/2023 18:06

Ok I’m not near a Waitrose so don’t think I’m going to be able to get a crosta and mollusca. Think it might be down to goodfellas, ristorante or dr Oetker.

I want something thin not doughy, cheesy, quick but decent tasting!

Try an Dr oetker

Dragonsbe · 06/12/2023 18:44

Crosta and mollica are almost as good as my homemade (which is good!) with the advantage that you can get straight from freezer. Watch out for special offers at Tesco

So then you would be eating frozen pizza

One made from scratch, without all the additives found in a ready made, processed pizza.

Yes we get it. But I haven't got time for that plus the additives make it taste nice.

Laiste · 06/12/2023 18:49

Loving the

10 mins to mix, all day to rise, 20 mins to roll out, 15 mins to do something else, 10 mins to put toppings on then simply bake ... and you have 2 whole pizzas quick and easy !

As a viable alternative to

2 mins to tear open a few boxes then simply bake ...

I know which one i do when i need to feed all 6 of us quickly 😆

CurlewKate · 06/12/2023 18:50

@salamirose "

Don't agree about the "lots of ingredients". But good point about the tasty chemicals. 🤣

It is. I do it all the time. Even have a woodfired pizza oven.

Sometimes I don't have a pizza base in the freezer because we've used them. Sometimes I cba with making the dough. Sometimes, I want food that is cooked in 15 minutes with literally no thought or prep required. Sometimes I've had a VERY long day at work and need to not think about what I'm putting in the oven but still have a happy family....

CharityShopChic · 06/12/2023 17:49

The Co-Op ones in the black boxes are nice, quite spendy though and oval shaped rather than round. They do a nice mozzarella and sundried tomato one.

The ones in my coop are round now!!!!

CurlewKate · 06/12/2023 18:52

@Laiste But you do that with the home made one you put in the freezer!

goboilyerhead · 06/12/2023 18:58

Crosta & Mollica do a pizza base. Just add some grated cheese and other toppings and hey presto! Tasty and easy.

madeinmanc · 06/12/2023 18:59

Crosta and mollica unfortunately are not vegetarian. It's really annoying how they took a Margherita pizza and made it non-vegetarian in a market full of vegetarians. And that they went to the effort of making a vegan pizza but not a vegetarian one (that is easily and usually vegetarian in this country).

Custardslice3 · 06/12/2023 19:06

@CurlewKate what recipe do you use for your dough please?

therealcookiemonster · 06/12/2023 19:09

SurelySmartie · 06/12/2023 17:25

Thanks wouldn’t have thought of those to try.

Re making own I don’t think it’s easy to make a proper nice base! They never turn out that well from scratch for me. Also time consuming with prep in advance.

I used to think that and avoided making pizza for ages. now I literally throw in flour (really helps to use 00 flour), olive oil, salt and a mix of lukewarm water, sugar and yeast into the stand mixer (if you dont have one, its a 7 minute knead). I don't measure anything and just keep adding flour until the dough feels right. I prove for an hour and then divide into balls and put in individual plastic boxes into the fridge (have to make sure there is enough space for them to expand). they prove beautifully and taste better each day. can keep up to 4 days. I have a pizza pretty much most days, takes five mins to just stretch it out and top with whatever I fancy (i often use jar pesto by scala). a pizza tray really helps and I turn up the oven to max.

MotherOfVizslas · 06/12/2023 19:14

I love making my own pizza, BUT we always keep a couple of Tesco stuffed crusts in the freezer for emergencies/can't be arsed nights. They're really yummySmile

Handsnotwands · 06/12/2023 19:19

CurlewKate · 06/12/2023 18:15

@NotFastButFurious I agree. It's worth making home made for the freezer though. The point is the crust- bought tomato sauce is fine. 5 minutes to make the dough in a food processor-10 by hand. Raise n the fridge all day. 10 minutes to roll out and shove toppings on. 20 minutes rest. 20 minutes in the oven. One to eat and one to freeze. Minimum effort. Scheduling rather than cooking!

doesn't it have to be somewhere warm to rise?

tinyme77 · 06/12/2023 19:21

We like the Tesco ones. Prefer them to some of the branded ones and great value for money.

shivbo2014 · 06/12/2023 19:23

Good fellas pepperoni normal crust love them

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 06/12/2023 19:31

Handsnotwands · 06/12/2023 19:19

No, and a slower rise can be good. I often make pizza dough the day before (especially if the family are coming over for it) and stick it in the fridge to rise overnight. Even in the fridge it can go a bit mental and explode out of my bowl. Side note, must get a bigger bowl for rising dough!

Giftsonthefireandlogsonthetree · 06/12/2023 19:33

Another vote for Crosta Mollica (when on clubcard prices at Tesco) and the Sainsbury's taste the difference ones are good too.

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 06/12/2023 19:36

The pizza express ones aren't too bad either. Although they're better from the fresh section (but I believe they freeze).

PrincessHoneysuckle · 06/12/2023 19:38

PeloMom · 06/12/2023 17:40

I like the dr Oetker ones as I prefer thin crust

Aldi do a dupe of these.Theyre less than £2 and taste exactly the same
