To think most mumsnetters are attractive?

I appreciate this might be weird!
It seems to be a relatively well off demographic, plenty of money around for treatments/tweakments and lovely quality clothing.
I imagine mumsnetters have clean, well cut and expensively dyed hair.
They have plenty of funds to afford lots of fruits and vegetables in their diet and the time/energy to exercise regularly.
Aibu to think most mumsnetters will be above average looking?

Well I'm definitely a total stunner. Oh yes.

MelsMoneyTree · 30/11/2023 15:22

Yy we are all gorgeous! Even without dyed hair ... or expensive haircuts. We all just radiate natural beauty.

Waitingfordoggo · 30/11/2023 15:23

You’re probably more or less right overall. But I’m an absolute state so bring the average down.

Flickersy · 30/11/2023 15:27

Didn't we already have this thread like last week?

User136921 · 30/11/2023 15:27

I am, I'm very rich too

I'm so breathtaking it needs saying twice.

TheHawkisHowling · 30/11/2023 15:28

Well I don't like to boast about how attractive I am, OP buuuut 💅🏻

Alas no I don't have expensively dyed hair, balls can I afford fresh fruit, and my expensive wardrobe is all second hand.

LubaLuca · 30/11/2023 15:30

I have professionally coiffed hair and I'm not short of money, but unfortunately this hasn't made my face or body any more beautiful.

I'm a nice enough person though so attractive in ways that don't rely on genetics or vast riches. I'm at peace with that 😌

SkaneTos · 30/11/2023 15:31

My hair looks like hell.
It's good that it's winter now, so I can completely cover it with a woolly hat.

ShirleyPhallus · 30/11/2023 15:32

judging by the photos MNers post of themselves they look absolutely fine but are often unable to clean their mirror or tidy their bedroom

Webex · 30/11/2023 15:32

They certainly all have beautiful daughters and tall athletic sons.

squashi · 30/11/2023 15:32

I'm absolutely gorgeous.

BIossomtoes · 30/11/2023 15:32

If the general population’s anything to go by I imagine they’re all pretty ordinary looking.

LolaSmiles · 30/11/2023 15:33

I think Mumsnet has a lot of women from a range of backgrounds with different priorities and different levels of commitment to beauty regimes.

HarryOHayandBettyOBarley · 30/11/2023 15:34

OP have you missed all the posts about people not being able to afford the basics? Have you read about posters going to food banks and not being able to afford heating?
Have you read the posts where posters said they’d think nothing of physically fighting with people, shoplifting etc

There may be a minimum number of MN who are on 150K+ but I can guarantee you that the majority are not and the majority are trying to keep their heads above water and are lucky to go on one holiday a year. You are perceiving the minority to be the majority.

And don’t forget that anyone can claim anything on the internet. There will be a few who will post about their imaginary lifestyles too.

TheresaCrowd · 30/11/2023 15:35

I don't understand why there are so many threads/posts claiming that the average MNetter is well off financially, when there are so many posts to the contrary?

Confirmation bias perhaps, in that some people don't register those posts? Or maybe those with money/claiming they have money just post about it more?

KatBurglar · 30/11/2023 15:35

Mumsnet is like Lake Woebegone, where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average.

Personally I'm drop dead gorgeous, obviously.

TheresaCrowd · 30/11/2023 15:37

And all the treatments/tweakments and lovely quality clothing etc don't make a great deal of difference if you're not particularly blessed when it comes to looks.

They'll just make you look smarter/better groomed.

TherapyRocks · 30/11/2023 15:37

Isn’t the beauty of an anonymous forum with no profile pictures the fact that it doesn’t matter what you look like?

DrCoconut · 30/11/2023 15:38

@SkaneTos That is possibly the only advantage i can think of for winter, bad hair days can be easily disguised with a hat. Said hat makes me look more like Compo than the chic models you see in magazines though 😫

c3pu · 30/11/2023 15:39

I fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, so I'm happy to bring the average back towards the norm.

Ohthatsfabulousdarling · 30/11/2023 15:40

😅😅 certainly not me.im frumpy unkempt, and overweight.

I do have money for vegetables, but do much prefer chocolate 😄😶
And don't have the time for beauty treatments

I do have nice teeth though

ManateeFair · 30/11/2023 15:42

Oh, I always picture most of them as being very average and dull-looking, to be honest.

I also think there's a lot of snobbery on Mumsnet about the notion of looking after your appearance. There's always people on here sneering at the notion of wearing makeup or having any kind of 'tweakment' at all, as if they think washing their faces in vinegar and dressing solely in clothes from outdoor-wear retailers somehow means they're infinitely cleverer and less shallow than the rest of us.

Also, there are always people on style threads who have conniptions about anyone who goes to work in anything other than a knee-length skirt suit and a sensible mid-height court shoe and thinks any haircut other than a shoulder length dark blonde balayage is 'unprofessional'. So I just picture a lot of Mumsnetters as looking very boring, rather than attractive.

tomatoontoast · 30/11/2023 15:43

I imagine mumsnetters as quite plain and dowdy.

I'm sure they're all lovely people but, physically attractive? No.
