To think most mumsnetters are attractive?

I appreciate this might be weird!
It seems to be a relatively well off demographic, plenty of money around for treatments/tweakments and lovely quality clothing.
I imagine mumsnetters have clean, well cut and expensively dyed hair.
They have plenty of funds to afford lots of fruits and vegetables in their diet and the time/energy to exercise regularly.
Aibu to think most mumsnetters will be above average looking?

Lol, not sure. I am slimish, curvyish, tallish, well dressed in natural fabrics, and classic clothes that last, enjoy running, only wear good makeup and perfume, have good skin, I have an expensive hair balayage, but... I haven't had work done, I have a character face, rather than a beautiful face, I am on a constant diet, I have a lowish income, not much time for hobbies, only get my hair done twice a year, I'm unhappy with my teeth but can't afford orthodontics right now.. so it's swings and roundabouts

You’re probably more or less right overall. But I’m an absolute state so bring the average down.

This made me laugh way too much! I’m in bed sniggering quietly and trying not to wake the dog 😂 I’m with you btw so we are dragging things down together! 😁

I think you might have over generalised from a minority.

I'm in my forties. I haven't had anything done, I'm on a No Buy clothes wise because I think there was an emotional component to my over consumption and I didn't like that and Tory economic policy has put our mortgage payment up hundreds of pounds a month.

I do have clean hair, I do get lots of exercise, and I eat my ten a day though.

@DrCoconut
My hat is an old, purple, burled (is that the word?) beret type hat. My mother gives me a "does not approve"-look when she sees me in it...

Only when I dressed as Caroline de Winter. That did not go well.

😂😂😂

Was it a particularly shocking outfit?

I'm sitting in my fat arse knocking back wine and feeding my SM addiction. Surely all of the gorgeous people have better things to do like learning Italian or meeting other lovely people at a yoga class.

What has looks got to do with learning Italian?

Yoga, yes, maybe in that it probably works the other way around and better looking people are often more motivated with self care.

SiobhanSharpe · 12/02/2024 16:00

Well, I have good hair, and skin (and spend mucho to keep it that way) but that's about it.
And looking at the weight loss threads I see I'm not alone in wanting to shed a stone or three. So we're probably a mixed bunch, good bits and not-so-good bits.
Such is life, as my dear old Ma used to say.

LadyKenya · 12/02/2024 16:05

Fruit, and vegetables do not have to be expensive. Things like greens, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli are cheap as chips. Fruits, such as bananas, and apples are cheap too. (Perhaps missing the point of the OP)😵‍💫

We can’t afford chips these days so that must help! :D

I get the opposite impression 😂

I don't understand why there are so many threads/posts claiming that the average MNetter is well off financially, when there are so many posts to the contrary?

Confirmation bias perhaps, in that some people don't register those posts? Or maybe those with money/claiming they have money just post about it more?

Take a look at the secondary school Mumsnet talk topic. 90% of the posts are about private schools. Given that only around 6-7% of children are privately educated in the UK, this suggests that the total population of Mumsnet users is heavily skewed towards the seriously well-off.

I always thought that's because most of us have a limited choice whereas the wealthy families in big cities will want to hand select where they're spending huge sums of money.
There's often a lot of threads about education and schools in other topics as well and most of those seem to be state schools.

Feelinadequate23 · 12/02/2024 21:37

i'm completely average, getting less attractive with age...

lljkk · 12/02/2024 21:38

I imagine the avg MNers is 20 stone & cowering too scared to answer the door.

Or maybe not. Who knows. tbf, none of the RL MNers i met were like that... maybe tending towards neurotic, I suppose.

It really isn’t, if anything the majority of people are middle to low income. Any income thread shows that. In fact any thread about money, shopping, houses. Yes some wealthy folks, but absolutely the majority it low to average,

Katemax82 · 12/02/2024 21:44

I'm gorgeous and I do naff all to achieve it

5128gap · 12/02/2024 21:45

Whenever you're out and about OP, take a look at the women around you. Because that's what MNetters look like. So how attractive do you think they are?

bryceQ · 12/02/2024 21:45

I thought most people on here seem to describe themselves as a potato 😂

Except a small minority who repeatedly post pics of themselves on style and beauty lol

No, that's the men they meet on OLD 😂

Fionaville · 12/02/2024 22:26

I dont think so. I feel like mumsnetters are the female, middle aged version of the stereotypical nerdy boys who live in their parents basement, spend all their time on the computer and can't get a date. A few female versions of 'Comic book guy' too. But their specialist subject isn't super hero's. It's knowledge about pensions, savings, co inhabiting, family law and divorce. With a bit of interior design critiquing thrown in for fun.

I don't believe there are many perfectly groomed, wealthy, model like women on here. I think most are probably average looking. With nice average children and husbands, living in average homes. Stunners who are as wealthy as people on here claim to be, don't have time for forums, they are too busy doing fabulous things.
Yes, I'm aware that I'm on MN. I don't claim to be one of those model women though. It's OK to be average!

Ghouella · 12/02/2024 22:27

Yes based on my sample size of 1, mumsnetters are sexy AF 😂
