Shared by an elderly friend of my mum’s on Facebook. I find it offensive but I’m debating whether it’s worth the hassle of saying so.

It’s certainly not kind, it’s condescending and misogynistic. I’ve known her my whole life and I’ve never seen her be unkind before, actually she did my mum a great kindness many years ago, so I’m not looking to be confrontational or mean.

I just think shit like this being unchallenged makes the world a little bit worse off every day.

For a start if you believe in God as I do, then I wholly dispute that God hides the most precious things in life because He doesn’t. Beauty doesn’t always mean jewellery ffs. ( second word flip). Caring, compassion, empathy, love, your baby’s first smile etc etc etc. All precious and not hidden. This is the problem with ‘religion’ which is man made and used to make people feel ashamed or guilty. It’s old fashioned crap, just ignore it.

But have we no words of advice for the young lady almost wearing her panties in the picture? Not like Mumsnet.

Panties?

no I don't find it offensive. It's normal boomer facebook-sharing stuff. She didn't take the picture it's just a shared post.

The post isn't commenting on whether women in short shorts are attention seeking. It's a man telling women to cover their bodies from all men in order to reserve the sight of them for the one man who will acquire ownership rights to them. I'm sure that even people who are offended by short shorts and/or women who's clothes draw attention to them may not fully agree with that as a sentiment, if they understood it.

No it isnt, it is saying that men will chase harder if you "play hard to get" and look less available, men will look at the girls in super tight shorts (mission accomplished for the girl wearing them) but they wont want to have deeper more meaningful relationships with them in general (what lots of women are looking for even if they do try to be centre of attraction walking down a street) It is just similar fluff to that stupid book "The Rules" that came out in the 90s (or was it the 80s) All that happened was that loads of guys on "social dynamics" websites read it, laughed at it, then started using the "tactics" on women, LOL. Facebook is pure nonsense, can`t believe the amount of replies to this TBH.

No idea the source of the photo, it could just be staged so someone can put their little point of view out on the internet, but the shorts just scream Insecure! Most guys would see the red flag and switch off IMO.

Whoever came up with this post didn’t think of those of us who are ND

Gold, diamonds and pearls once they are “mined” are dressed to show off their assets.

What jeweller makes a gold and diamond ring and then encases it in steel to keep it hidden.

So in a roundabout way it’s saying dress how you like once you have been “mined”🤣🤣🤣

Why do short shorts scream “insecure”? I’d interpret it the opposite way tbh - you have to be pretty secure to show off your body that way in a world full of people waiting to judge you as a woman.

They don't. It's just that some people are offended by them and it's easier for them to decide they're someone else's moral failing than just get over it.

These type of posts are an underhand way to support aspects of certain religions

Getting likes and shares is then translated into support and justification

What I do find offensive is the ageist stuff I see on threads like this.

As a “boomer” and one of the “older generation” I have walked down the street with my arse hanging out of short shorts. I am from the era of punk and micro minis and sunbathing topless

I have friends in their 40s who are more stuffy and uptight about clothing than I have ever been.
