Well by my reckoning the OP is the same as the OP on the painting your house in primary colours...or else we just HAPPEN to have two people who think is is correct to put a "," instead of either ":" or nothing in the the title, as in "to think that," (sic)

So there.

Janni · 13/03/2008 13:31

Anyway, from my dim recollection, breastfeeding my first baby was a wonderful way to BE lazy. I recall blissful snoozes on the sofa as he fed. Much easier than sterilising and all that malarkey.

fondant4000 · 13/03/2008 13:39

I bf because I'm selfish and perhaps lazy.

becaroo · 13/03/2008 13:39

SNORE....been done before love and the question is as irrelvant now as it was then.

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2008 13:41

I just thought this must be part of the challenge.

becaroo · 13/03/2008 13:46

Challenge?? Are you under the impression you are on the Krypton Factor?

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2008 13:49

What's the krypton factor?
Sorry, I am probably younger than you

becaroo · 13/03/2008 13:51

Probably...most people are.

VinegarTits · 13/03/2008 13:52

Some women don't even try to bf because they just dont wan't to. Have you heard of freedom of choice?

Maybe you don't understand it, because you don't want to understand it, thats your choice. Go and put your head back in the sand and stop posting offensive threads. silly girl.

mrsruffallo · 13/03/2008 13:53

LOL
No, I meant Cod's challenge for the most controversial thread. However, have been informed it ended yesterday

popcornprincess · 13/03/2008 13:58

Dear mrs up your own arse (aka mrs dannydyer) what would you say if I told you that my implants are as firm as footballs and the size of Kilimanjaro so unless my baby had a mouth with a circumference not dissimilar to a trampoline, I would have found it very hard to feed her from my noorks! Also breastfeeding would have seriously inconveniened me whilst at work. I star in blue movies and I'm not sure that feeding my babe whilst being shagged from behind would have gone down to well - do you? Does this make me lazy and selfish. Hardly lazy I think - its bloody hard work shagging for a living.

Is this story true I ear you all cry - of course it isn't. This story is as ridiculous as Mrsdannydyers thread!!!

becaroo · 13/03/2008 14:08

This thread does have an air of being controversial just for the sake of it...was there a prize for the winner?

Fair enough - but please go back to the other thread and answer my colours question....

Looby34 · 13/03/2008 15:00

Read this thread this morning and have been thinking about why the op may have posted such an ignorant question. Aside from the thoughtless way she phrased it - could it be that she breastfed but experienced no problems with it ?

Maybe I am being too generous here, but if she breastfed (as some of my friends did) with no isues whatsoever, perhaps she would not be aware of some of the issues the rest of us have experienced ??

I had a terrible time with my dd, giving up near to pnd after 3 weeks and am due again in 8 weeks, with lot of reservations about trying it again.

Belgianchocolates · 13/03/2008 15:14

Just want to add. It is a free country people do have their reasons. The strangest one I encountered was someone stating its 'disgusting', but hey that's her opinion. I would like to see everyone at least trying it, but if they don't I wouldn't label them as lazy. It's just what they want to do.
Personally I am also one of the lazy bunch who couldn't be bothered with the hassle of ff. Both mine were great feeders and the thought of getting up in the middle of the night to fetch a bottle & heat it is just too much for me. Like piffle said: role over to baby, feed, role off; easy peasy!

kiskideesameanoldmother · 13/03/2008 15:19

hasn't this thread been done before?

cory · 13/03/2008 16:25

I nearly killed my dd by insisting on carrying on breastfeeding though she was hypotonic and unable to suckle. I ended up in hospital feeding her from a syringe. A bottle would have been better.

When ds was born I was still totally committed to breastfeeding, even though it meant I had to stay on medication that was making me depressed and so tired that I was constantly at risk of causing an accident to him. I was even prepared to risk my life by stop taking medication altogether. In the end my GP pointed out that ds would be better off having a Mum that was able to cope with him.

Looking back, I am not proud of my decision to breastfeed. I did enjoy it, but in my case it was a selfish decision that put my children at risk. It wasn't about what was best for them- it was about what would make me feel like I was a perfect Mum. And yes, there was the lazy factor as well...

Cory, i am sorry for your troubles. I think your very sensitive and honest post really highlights how much pressure mums are under to BF. The problem is that health professionals are bound by the government to push BF at all costs. It is so annoying. I do think breast is best, but not at any cost.+9

Janbo25 · 13/03/2008 18:30

like you cory my sis had a dd and was trying to bf due to pressures from others kept insisting but her dd just couldn't do it, my sister was getting herself more amd more worked up and then it was finally noticed that her dd had a cleft palete that wasn't picked up by the peadatrician after the birth, she to ended up on special care and upon discharge had to be fed with special squeezy bottles because she couldn't suck.
My sister was then faced by other mothers like the idiot who started this thread making comments about not breastfeeding and also about using "cheap" bottles which will not do the baby any good, little did they know those cheap bottles was provided by the hospital and keeping her alive and fed. Now wake up all of you IGNORANT BLEEDING MIDDLE CLASS SNOBS!!
