to think that, mothers that do not even try to breastfeed, are selfish and perhaps lazy?

yes i know their will be women that have been sexually abused or have hiv or something, yes there is always, the execption to the rule.
but in gerneral, why do some women not even try?
this really baffles me?

Actually Kewcumber - you WERE just lazy and selfish weren't you?

mrsdannydyer · 13/03/2008 11:03

well how would they know if they would get sore or depressed or whatever if they do not even try? i am not talking about people that try and find it too much. i am talking about people that do not even try.
they might be the lucky ones that do not have these problems.
and as to say do not judge, get real everyone judges, yes you all do it, if you are honest.

It's funny what "lazy" means to different people.

I breastfed both of mine - until 13 & 15 months respectively - not because it was "best for them" but because I didn't want the faff of sterilising bottles, buying formula, having to take bottles everywhere with me, worrying about hygiene/storage away from home and so on.

In other words, my main motivation in breastfeeding was to save me work ..... I have no idea if it saved me time or not, never having bottle-fed a baby, I have nothing to compare it to, though some of the comments here do suggest bottle feeding is faster and of course, other people can do that for you too.

FAQ · 13/03/2008 11:04

oh yes I see lots of people on here calling mum's who FF their babies "lazy and selfish"

Monkeybird · 13/03/2008 11:04

ya see Mrs DD, the great thing about MN is while we might have different views about BF and FF, we all know and are united about a dickhead question when we see one.

So go away now and squeeze your spots or wank in front of WoW or whatever it is that 14 year old boys do.

VictorianSqualor · 13/03/2008 11:05

Are you purposely ignoring my posts OP?

I know that giving birth in 3 weeks(ish) is going to hurt me like hell, because I've had 2 CS's I've never done it before, but I still know it's going to hurt!

Word of mouth dear.

ladytophamhatt · 13/03/2008 11:10

I'd like you to come here and call me lazy.

Whn I had my last baby, I already had 3 others aged 7,5 and 3.

I expressed as much as I possibly could for just over a month for No4. Do you know how much I managed to get in any 24 hr period?

Ohhh about 6oz on a good day. And that was a resut of hooking myslef up to the pump every 2-3 hours...including at night time too when I wasn't almost dead on my feet.

So, he had that and the formula taht I so wickedly made him drink because my tits wouldn't give up any more.

Funnily enough it all dried up when the older ones had ahalf term holiday....because I was rushed off my feet.

Lazy??

Ohhhh FUCK OFF

cheesesarnie · 13/03/2008 11:10

btw i am very lazy and very selfish and will do anything for an easy quiet life.so shot me.

mrsdannydyer · 13/03/2008 11:13

sorry vs im not ignoring you it just hard to keep up with all these post, cue jokes about me being lazy.
most of your posts seem to be about lack of support, but how can that be a reason not to try?. yes a reason not to continue when having problems yes.
but to not try? no.
i honestley do not think many women realise there are risks to giving formula and bf does not have "benefits" rather bf is the norm.
formula has risks.
it truly seems alot of women on this thread at least, simply do not get that.

The last time I looked no-one had made you judge and jury, MrsDD, so I suggest you take your nasty little mind and your Daily Mail attitude and go back to your bridge.

Women get so much stick, no matter what choices they make, that they don't need any more from small minded twits like you.

rantinghousewife · 13/03/2008 11:14

God MrsDD, you have a lot to learn about life!

Kewcumber · 13/03/2008 11:14

"Actually Kewcumber - you WERE just lazy and selfish weren't you?" - thats me, Buda

PinkPussyCat · 13/03/2008 11:14

Hear hear mrspnut

mrsdannydyer · 13/03/2008 11:14

for the final time, i am not talking about people that have tried.

OP posts:
PinkPussyCat · 13/03/2008 11:16

Oh ffs

FAQ · 13/03/2008 11:16

"or the final time, i am not talking about people that have tried"

oh that's ok then - that will cut out a very large number of mothers from the firing line - as many may have tried with their first - but not with subsequent babies.......so they have at least tried with one.........

ditto Fillyjonk and Piffle

And also ditto Fennel.

I am ambivalent about breastfeeding and despite feeding ds for 2 years can honestly say it was something I generally didn't enjoy and yes I often found it inconvenient

Trouble is I found bottles, sterilising etc even more inconvenient so the lazy does apply to me too - but then as the name suggests I see no problem with this

ladytophamhatt · 13/03/2008 11:17

MrsDD, for the first time...you're missing the point completely.

Where did you come from anyway?
