Husband taking a trip after daughter had accident

My daughter fell over and really injured herself, so is unable to get around without any kind of assistance. My husband had booked a golf trip with his friends prior to this happening and he still wants to go and leave me with both kids for nearly a week. It’s going to be extremely difficult for me to juggle all school pick ups and everything else that entails! I work full time and have a side job. I really wanted to know, AIBU?!

No but he is!

FelicityFlops · 14/11/2023 23:00

That is life. Get over it!

crazyivy · 14/11/2023 23:00

depends on all sorts of things, age of children, nature of injury, frequency of golfing trips, how often you get a chance to go away, etc

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 14/11/2023 23:02

How old is your dd? Is she on crutches?

Were you going to be doing school pick ups any ways? Or does this change things?

steff13 · 14/11/2023 23:02

Is she on crutches or something? What was the nature of the injury?

cestlavielife · 14/11/2023 23:03

How old is she ?
Has dh arranged soneone to come and help?

noisyfrodge · 14/11/2023 23:03

Far too vague to judge it but I wouldn't expect anyone to cancel a pre planned trip unless it was absolutely necessary.

TheresaCrowd · 14/11/2023 23:06

As always, ages are important here.

HolliDays · 14/11/2023 23:06

How old are the children? What's the extent of the damage to DD? When is the trip?

36londonmum · 14/11/2023 23:06

Adding to this, she is in a wheelchair or a zimmer frame and is 5…

And her sibling's age?

36londonmum · 14/11/2023 23:08

She’s got a full straight leg cast and is in a wheelchair for 8 weeks :( she can use a zimmer frame to walk a bit but it’s tiring as she’s 5

Sibling is 6 nearly 7

Yes there are two different picks up which we would have split, so it means I cannot do anything from 3pm

He’s passed me a babysitter number…

Would he normally do the school pick ups? Yes it'll be harder, but assuming you were going it to do it anyway if he was away?

noisyfrodge · 14/11/2023 23:11

Yeah I would just manage for the sake of a few days tbh. We had one with a full leg cast and juts carried on as we were which was working opposite shifts so we did childcare at the opposite parts of the day - it was a struggle but essentially what you are describing, being alone.

You will be very surprised at how soon she is able to navigate her way about - mine ditched the crutches and was dragging himself about the house after about 4/5 days, including up and down stairs and toileting

Speak to school and pick up your injured child early to enable you to collect the other one on time

Somewhereovertherainbowweighapie · 14/11/2023 23:13

I would hand him a letter from my solicitor

36londonmum · 14/11/2023 23:14

😂

NewLifter · 14/11/2023 23:14

No I wouldn't expect my DH to cancel a trip that was already booked and paid for, because of a DC with a broken leg

Fionaville · 14/11/2023 23:14

I think he's a knobhead for going on a golf trip for a week, when he's got young kids anyway. So of course, I think he's out of order for leaving you all in the lurch like this.

Tinkerbyebye · 14/11/2023 23:14

I would just book my own holiday then at some point and leave him to it

selfish person

pinkdelight · 14/11/2023 23:18

Absolutely leave him to it the week after.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 14/11/2023 23:23

Book a spa trip.
