Shall I pay for shoes

My daughter had a friend over today, said friend left shoes downstairs and puppy chewed them slightly. She has been over before and told to put shoes on stairs out of way. I was in bathroom when she arrived . Aibu to not refund £150 for shoes . They are very wearable just nibbled on on top back area .

Have they asked you to pay?

TeenDivided · 12/11/2023 19:27

No I would not pay under these circumstances.

Doginthebed · 12/11/2023 19:28

Guest has been told previously to leave on stairs . There is a stair gate so puppy can’t reach

No not at all I’ve just had message about parents being gutted, I know if it was the other way round I would say to dc oh well you have been told etc

I would refuse to pay - her fault as she left shoes in the wrong place. Don’t have the child over again. Parents are taking absolute pee with the price requested to replace shoes that the child left out to get gnawed. Honestly , the cf’ery of people .

Doginthebed · 12/11/2023 19:31

I would pay vets bill of course

I'm guessing they are uggs?
I'd be mortified and would probably offer to pay

gofullpelt · 12/11/2023 19:31

Nope, I wouldn't pay. She's been told where to put them safely and she didn't so it's on her. Do the parents know she left them where she shouldn't have?

Hi dd's friend's dps... Friend has previously been advised about keeping shoes away from ddog.
Then don't engage.
Betcha she wouldn't have left her mobile phone or charger where ddog could have reached..

justwatchingtelly · 12/11/2023 19:37

And who has requested the £150? The parents of guest? Guest?

If they are wearable, I would absolutely not pay. If completely destroyed, I would consider a percentage based on age of shoes.

And only if they asked nicely.

SwirlyWhirls · 12/11/2023 19:42

I would offer at least half the price

Doginthebed · 12/11/2023 19:43

Dds friends always told to leave on stairs out of reach. I was in bathroom but friend been before and told “house rules” Not reminded this time as I was in bathroom .

No, don't pay, you've already told her.

On another note, I'm enjoying the potential this thread has for turning into a classic shoes on/shoes off 😆

Swimeveryday · 12/11/2023 19:47

If they are Uggs puppy has done her a favour they are so naff!

PlipPlopChoo · 12/11/2023 19:49

They are already asking you without actually asking you in so many words.

Wendysfriend · 12/11/2023 19:08

It's she an adult, child ? Why were her shoes off ?

You must live a spectacularly sheltered life if you aren't aware that it's perfectly normal for people not to wear shoes inside

No not really.

WAC1 · 12/11/2023 19:53

I feel like you should offer

ellesbellesxxx · 12/11/2023 19:53

”Hi. Just a call to let you know I am getting married! To myself. I am registered at Manolo Blahnik”

your thread made me think of this episode of Sex and the city! But in fairness you did warn her…

MRSMTO · 12/11/2023 19:54

Cons? £150 quid? Are we taking Commes de garçon ones?!

No I wouldn't pay!

Summerishere123 · 12/11/2023 19:54

If she had been 5 I would have been sympathetic. At 15, she is responsible for putting it out of the way or not wearing £150 shoes in a house with a puppy!

Doginthebed · 12/11/2023 19:55

Oooh me on a classics 🤞🏻
