Husband ill, but messing up house

Husband is poorly. A bad cold. Temperature. Sinuses all stuffed up. Headache etc. I leave him on the sofa and clean the house without him today, letting him rest.

I finish cleaning and he decided to get showered and dressed. Decides to shave in the freshly cleaned bathroom getting hairs everywhere. Doesn’t since the soap suds off the bath screen so the bubbles are drying to the glass.

Comes upstairs, sits on the bed to put his socks on. Doesn’t straighten up the bed and then walks across the carpet leaving tiny black bits of old sock.

Goes into en-suite and brushes his teeth, getting toothpaste spit droplets all over the mirror and shower door. Leave wet towel hanging over my display white towels.

Now I feel really angry. Took me ages on my day off to do all of the cleaning by myself. I work full time so value the weekends and am pissed off that I’m now cleaning up after him.

DH says - the house is to be lives in. Then tries to hug me.

Who’s being unreasonable?

@ChocolateCinderToffee
good idea! I just use any of the grey ones I have. To be honest, they aren’t too bad. It’s a fairly dark grey. Never thought of brown, but it makes sense.

@venus7

But I want them to function for decorative purposes and they do that.

I have explained that DS will not use the same towel twice as he suffers with IBS/IBD and would not feel clean.

I use a towel for my body, then I use it to dry my hair. It is no good for another body dry after this. It’s full of hair.

DH will use his towel a few times.

Are you losing your hair?

Mumof118 · 15/11/2023 20:17

@StarlightLime

hmm, I seem to shed a lot. But my hair is waist length and very thick so it doesn’t notice.
my towel is full of the stuff though and I’d prefer not to get strands stuck between my butt cheeks after my next shower 😳

Unless you're using glue as detergent, you could just shake them.
You don't care about the environmental issue at all? Or the monetary cost of washing single use or unused....display!....towels?

I care about the environment in many ways. Picking up litter. Recycling. Reusing. I rarely buy new clothes. I up-cycle. I repair. I look after what I have, so I don’t have to paint or replace tiles etc every few years. I had one child. I don’t have pets. I recovered my own suite. So, what probably is an extra load of washing a week doesn’t bother me too much, no. And the cost isn’t that great either. As I say, I’m very thrifty, so plenty of savings elsewhere.

Fair enough.

I haven't RTFT but have you thought about buying him some carpet coloured socks for Christmas?

jools7 · 21/11/2023 17:36

The black bits of sock drive me nuts too. I binned all of hubby's black socks and bought light grey ones,much better on my cream carpets 😂xxx

We are lucky enough to have separate bathrooms and I hire a cleaner - not having to share with husband who is messy in the bathroom is such a relief.
