To put Christmas tree up now?

When do you think it is acceptable to put up Christmas decorations and tree?

I'm starting to get my Christmas village set up (nowhere near finished yet!) but definitely not Christmas tree. It's not Christmas yet.

The bloody shops are to blame for this nonsense! I realise they have to start early to make profits and because people like to spread the cost by buying earlier in the year but I saw a Christmas display as early as August 31st this year. Madness.

Traditionally, the Christmas tree went up on 24th December and was taken down on the twelfth day of Christmas (Friday 5th Jan 2024 this time)

i agree too, that it’s the perhaps a little early, but not harming anyone so if you want to put up the tree then why not? It does feel tempting when the Christmas decs are up in the shops.
Im holding off until the 1st of December, well I’m trying to… but on the other hand I love having the tree up, and don’t get bored of it at all! I’d have mine up all winter if I could!

We only get one about 1.5- 2 weeks before Christmas and it’s one of my favourite days of the year but even then, when it comes down after New Year I am sick of it and just want my normal home back. I can’t imagine how I’d feel my January if I’d had a tree since November!

But if you enjoy it the whole way through.. there’s no rule is there? Do what works.

I'm going in early this year as I'm hosting a party on the 8th of December and, as I'm away for a new year holiday it will coming down on the 28th.
I think individual circumstances should be accepted. I love seeing the trees appearing in windows.

Ughhh yes it’s the moving round furniture.
I wish we had a smaller ones but DH usually just encourages the children to look at the massive ones every single year …

I do love Christmas but I’m not ready to move everything around yet. Maybe if I had a massive house.

December 1st, or first Sunday of Advent, whichever is the sooner for me, but you do what you like, it's fine!

I'd judge you harshly for putting the tree up now! I think it spoils the excitement of Christmas to put the tree up before December. My preference is to put it up in mid-December, but I'm hugely impressed by people who wait until Christmas Eve as that's the true spirit of Christmas.

We will be putting ours up in 2 weeks. We got a kitten this year and want to see how he reacts

I put my Christmas decorations up 2 weeks before the 25th, and leave them up till the day before 12 th night. I think it’s quite sad to see people taking decorations down on Boxing Day or just after! Christmas doesn’t stop on Boxing Day!

Way too early. It feels like Christmas is being diluted now because it starts so early.
I will put my tree up on the first weekend in December because the kids love it, if I were on my own I would probably put it up the weekend before Xmas and take it down before new year.

When my sister and I were small, our parents, put all the Christmas decorations up on Christmas Eve, when we went to bed! What a magical morning to waking up to see our house decorated, and Santa had been.

Mine goes up around the 14th December and comes down 28th December. Two weeks is plenty for me and I like to start the new year with a tidy, Xmas free house.

Advent Sunday or December 1st, whichever comes first.

Up around the 20th. Down on 12th night. Which is the correct way, obviously!

Most of my friends put theirs up earlier though.

Mine went up last week. I’ll take it down on the 27th as my daughters birthday is the day after

Why can’t those with birthdays around Christmas have Christmas decs up on their birthday?? I’d love that. You can’t pretend it’s not Christmas time and everywhere they go it will still be Christmas.

We saw a Christmas tree through someone's window on our walk home from school and my 7 year old ranted the whole way home about the injustice of people being allowed to put their tree up when we aren't for a few more weeks. We might do the last weekend of November, I like it up by the 1st now we have a fake tree.

We had a kitten last year - be warned! We had to get rid of our real tree early as he ended up with a tic above his eye from climbing it and then wouldn’t leave it alone! We replaced it with our fake one but he was relentless 😁

We have a real tree so it will be around 15th/16th .

We always have real Christmas trees, so putting them up early isn’t a good idea!
