To not cancel our wedding because DS has COVID

CheeseCrackers45 · 07/11/2023 13:28

Hi all. 1 year old son has had a bit of a cough for about a week. He's a bit tired but otherwise well. No fever, happily playing etc. Went to the GP today just in case it was another chest infection (he's already had several). Turns out he has COVID.

Here's the kicker... Me and DSs dad are due to get married on Thursday and DS is obviously attending 😅 We've taken tests and so far they are negative. My colleague is saying I'm being selfish by not cancelling the wedding. Me and my partner have decided to go ahead with it, but of course will be telling all guests that DS has COVID and letting them make their own decision about attending.

YANBU - no you shouldn't cancel
YABU - You should cancel

Covid tests are the biggest load of bs ever. I wouldnt even test anyone never mind a child. Why have you even gone there? I thought we had moved on from this utter bs. Get a grip give your child and yourselves vitamin d, zinc and quercetin and get onnwith your lives. Stop letting govt/pharma bs affect your lives

She took her child to the GP because he has had several chest infections and may have needed antibiotics. A Covid test was administered to confirm it, or rule it out, as a cause of symptoms. Did you not bother to read the thread?

And of course some people die from Covid, it’s monumentally stupid and offensive to claim otherwise.

This 👏👏

I think you need to learn how the quote function works…you’re just posting random comments without context.

…although I do worry that you might not have the requisite mental ability to actually learn anything.

We really need to improve that state of educations in this country.

Talking of muppets ....you do release you have to quote reply so we know what you're talking about?

Think some of the responses on here are from.multi jabbed nutters who have buggered their own immune system so much with all the jabs theyve had that they literally catch anything. If your guest list is full of jabbed people you may have a problem. If not, craic on because no one will be bothered. Sad but true.

nanny72 · 12/11/2023 23:26

Well seeing now they are telling parents to send kids to school with covid as long as they arnt to unwell and saying people can go to work as well, id tell relatives and leave it up to them. But if your all negative on the morning then there's no problem is there.

Winnipeggy · 12/11/2023 23:26

@mumsnethq I think you might be needed

The most sensible thing posted over the last page.

Booksdebbieo · 13/11/2023 07:49

I can understand why you have been questioning cancelling particularly when you have vulnerable family members. It's an added stress you could do without at the moment. I would have thought Ds will be clear by the time of the wedding and I would continue to test yourself and your partner. I would go ahead with the wedding and its right to have informed guests. I wish you a happy future

I'd have turned away anyone in face masks from our wedding.

Even if they were in the middle of treatment for cancer?

Even if they were in the middle of treatment for cancer?

Probably! That’s the sort of lovely type these anti-maskers are.

This thread has gone totally batshit.

The OP got married days ago, she of course brought her DS, the guests all said they were fine with it, covid is real, vaccines aren't a conspiracy, the quote function isn't difficult and there's a reason outdoor weddings and windows wide open are not a popular choice in the UK in December.

And that should be the end of it ….🤞

Hark at you and your voice of reason! 😅

TrashedSofa · 13/11/2023 14:18

So reasonable that I got the month wrong lmao

QuickDraining · 14/11/2023 22:28

Hope the wedding went well and without a hitch. Congratulations. Perhaps take heed the advice for your next one. ;)
