Surrogacy Concern broke the news on Friday night. I can’t actually believe it.

Over a month to come, the Scottish Govt are asking for egg and sperm donors as young as 18 to come forward in a series of targeted ads on social media and the radio. They’ve expanded IVF provision and - in their own words - have a supply and demand issue.

I’d heard of fertility clinics advertising (bad enough in my view) but for a national Govt to do this to women is staggering. Women can die from complications arising from OHSS, which can be caused by egg donation. A British woman died in 2006 as a result.

The ads don’t mention these risks; it’s all “be kind” “do something amazing”. I cannot actually believe a Govt could be this stupid. They’ve only just apologised for forced adoption!

Avoiding further sexual assault was 100% of my reason for demanding that my parents sent me to a all-girl secondary school. I promised them that I'd run away and sleep rough sooner than go to a mixed-sex secondary.

Given what we know about how girls in all-female schools outperform girls in mixed schools in all subjects and are more likely to take physics and maths in all-girl schools, I'd say that all-girl schools are very progressive.

Girls shouldn't have their academic performance sabotaged by being educated alongside boys. Demanding that they submit to this is misogynist and regressive.

I didn't understand all the fuss about Rachel Dolezal to be honest. What she did was odd, and dishonest, and I could understand why it upset people, but it was an isolated case of an individual's quite specific, very strange, issues. She could have still held the positions she had if she had presented as white. She no doubt gained professional advantage by presenting as black. But her exact motivations are known only to her. Haha. As an activist in my 20s I went to lots of drunken and drug fuelled parties where sometimes people got naked. No one was having sex in front of each other, and they were a long way from the suburban titillation of swingers parties. I'm a boring monogamous married woman in my 40s now and can assure you those are the very last thing I'd be into, though fair play to those who are.
