Is it too early? (Christmas Tree)

When do you put yours up?

Now the nights are drawing in I'm fancying putting a tree up to make the living room cosy with the lights and decorations.

It's too early, isn't it?!

It's my first Christmas in a new house, I didn't have room for a tree before so I'm somewhat over excited...

If it's your tree your house it's your choice! I know people who put them up early to cheer themselves up, to cheer their disabled children up to celebrate Christmas as a loved one is dying and just because they want to!

Clearspring1 · 02/11/2023 08:07

Yes

if you want to make your home more cosy with lights and decorations - then do that. But it doesn’t need to Christmas themed. Make your home winter friendly for the entire season!

Alargeoneplease89 · 02/11/2023 08:07

I saw one yesterday!

We put ours up on the 1st December but your house, your rules.

DoktorPeppa · 02/11/2023 08:08

You'll be sick of it by Xmas and will be taking it down on boxing day, which seems a shame.

Why not just have some fairy lights for the time being?

Whataretheodds · 02/11/2023 08:08

Yes it's too early. But I might put up white fairy lights soon (and keep them up longer) than the Christmas decs

MissRainbowBrite · 02/11/2023 08:08

We've put some clear twinkly lights around the French doors in the kitchen to add some sparkle, it's a nice addition without going full on Christmas too early 🎄

BibbleandSqwauk · 02/11/2023 08:09

I make myself wait til Dec otherwise it's not a special time of year...if you have the tree up for 10 weeks or so. Nothing stopping you having some autumnal fairy lights round the place ..the Range have lots. In the end it's your house but I wouldn't.

Karev · 02/11/2023 08:10

Fairy lights are such a great idea! Thanks all.

Cosy but minus Christmas 😆

I have fairy lights up all year. 🤷🏻‍♀️

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/11/2023 08:11

Yes too early!
id be exhausted by it come end of December.

jeaux90 · 02/11/2023 08:12

I have a pretty lights up all year round. In fact I bought a white stick Christmas tree last year for the kitchen/diner/family room and it's more of a lamp so leave it up all year, it looks gorgeous.

Sartre · 02/11/2023 08:13

I saw someone’s through their window about 2 weeks ago so I guess some people really don’t care about societal norms Grin.

Perhaps put some fairy lights up and light some candles as a happy medium until December. Ours goes up early December.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/11/2023 08:14

Do it if you want to! Mine will probably go up at the weekend. I never tire of it.

Wrongsideofpennines · 02/11/2023 08:14

I always wonder, for people who put their tree up really early, if it just gets really dusty? It must be really annoying to try and dust!

AgnesX · 02/11/2023 08:16

I love Christmas but yes too early. Unless you don't care what people think as they really will take the mickey ( if you put your tree in the window).

Try and hang on til the end of the month.

Or get some nanoleaf lights! My kids are obessed with them - tempted myself 😂

RufustheFactualReindeer · 02/11/2023 08:25

We have a tree we decorate for Halloween. We are taking the decs down today but the xmas ones are going up at the end of the month so we can’t be bothered to put it away

It already has lights so we will just leave those on

VeridicalVagabond · 02/11/2023 08:28

I'm a Christmas fiend and would have the tree up all year round if I could, but we compromise with November fairy lights and the tree on December 1st! I also like the twinkly, cosy feeling as soon as the dark evenings set in.

HouseInTheMiddle · 02/11/2023 08:34

Planning on putting ours up after a mid November birthday as its a huge tree and takes me a good few days of faffing to get everything set up.

From September I go autumnal with my decorations to make it cosy, my fireplace is tall, along the highest part I've got a large garland and woven fairy lights around it, they are battery but on a timer so I don't have to think about them. Found mini fake pumpkins in Home Bargains so they are dotted around up there too.

For Christmas I switch out the pumpkins for large baubles 😊

Same! They are a real tonic, especially once the clocks change. Cosy, but for us, not specifically Christmassy.

Wellhellooooodear · 02/11/2023 08:43

Tempting as it is I'd be sick of it by Christmas. 1st weekend in December for us

PurpleChrayne · 02/11/2023 08:45

Fairy lights will give the same effect.

Putting trees up early is sad behaviour.

2chocolateoranges · 02/11/2023 08:45

Far too early.

however we have a couple of houses near us that as soon as Halloween is over the Christmas decorations go up, one has their Christmas lights at their window and a candle arch up already!
