Got a sample of perfume and I am in LOVE. This one https://www.harveynichols.com/mizensir/ambre-magique-100ml-893018-84657/?source=shoppingads&gclid=CjwKCAjws9ipBhB1EiwAccEi1BHHazHuJs4-yqCIf18YiOiE6twshFZYH5uRCF6y0O8jBKgR6m4XxoCSfUQAvDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

But .. £265!! I'd be unreasonable to even ask for this for Christmas would I!
Have any of you ever got any perfumes that high price? Do they last longer etc?

I'd buy it for myself if I liked it and could afford it.

I'd never ask someone else to spend that much on a gift for me though

UdderlyPumpkin · 01/11/2023 13:32

First of all, Black Friday is coming up so you might get a sale price?

I fell in love with a Tom Ford and in the end I just couldn’t justify that much on a perfume and I bought a dupe. I will never normally buy dupes but it’s lovely

CesareBorgia · 01/11/2023 13:34

It's more than I could afford for perfume but I do find as a general rule, the more expensive the fragrance the less of it you need and the longer it lasts.

If you badly want it, could you ask a couple of people to give you vouchers towards the cost?

AuntieMarys · 01/11/2023 13:40

Dh buys me a couple of bottles of perfume a year and spends about £150-200 on each.
I think it's bonkers but he does choose good ones.

GasPanic · 01/11/2023 13:42

People like different stuff.

Some people waste money on cars, others champagne, others expensive haircuts, others handbags, others bikes, others mobile phones.

If it's value to you justifys its price and you can afford it then buy it.

And feel great when you wear it !

SatsumaNightmare · 01/11/2023 13:43

Buy it. Life is way too short.

FinallyPregnant23 · 01/11/2023 14:11

Treat yourself if you can afford it! Or as someone else said, ask for vouchers to put together towards it. I've had a couple of bottles of expensive perfume and they're lovely and do seem to last longer but probably not long enough to equalise the price per use.

Nawh · 01/11/2023 14:14

If you can easily afford it. Go for it. It will make you happy every day for a few months

Verv · 01/11/2023 14:14

If you can afford it do it. As others have said, life's too short.

IMO the "higher end" fragrances do last longer, require fewer squirts, and dont have that synthetic smell. Well worth it.

BakedTattie · 01/11/2023 14:15

my husbands favourite is assassins creed. I usually get him a bottle once a year. It’s roughly
£220

ShirleyPhallus · 01/11/2023 14:17

My perfume is that much but 100ml lasts about 2 years so it’s worth it! (Santal 33)

LittleMousewithcloggson · 01/11/2023 14:29

Have a look at the small aromas website where you can buy 1ml-5ml samples of it
Buy a larger sample and wear it properly for a few days/week
if you still love it then go for it and get the full bottle
Harvey Nichols have 10% off first orders!

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 01/11/2023 14:32

I just treated myself to one of Victoria beckhams new ones. Definitely on the pricier side but I love it, put a few squirts on this morning At 8 and still smelling strong now and well as others have said life is too short and you can’t take money with you

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/11/2023 14:35

Treat yourself if you can afford it
You will enjoy it every day and feel good
In a similar vein my DS has wanted for years a Saudi Arabian fragrance Oud Solid. It's £149 and he couldn't justify it
I've bought it for his main Christmas present and I know he'll be over the moon

HarrietStyles · 01/11/2023 14:56

If you really love it and you can afford it, then def get it. I have a perfume I absolutely love that costs £600 🙈 It makes me feel fabulous wearing it, one or two squirts last all day, so a bottle lasts me a year or two. I don’t wear it every day obviously, I also have much cheaper perfumes I wear day to day. But I just love the smell of it, it makes me really happy. Life is too short to not do little things to treat yourself every now and then (as long as you don’t go without in other areas.)

Onethingatatime23 · 01/11/2023 15:13

It is crazy how much it costs now. A small bottle of Chanel = £99.

Freesiabritney · 01/11/2023 15:20

If you can afford it go for it! I bought a bottle of penhaligons for my wedding perfume and the way the scent stays you can really notice the difference!

I feel your pain @mermaidtails. My signature scent is https://m.fredericmalle.co.uk/product/19566/50241/perfume/portrait-of-a-lady/by-dominique-ropion#/sku/86697
Generally 50mls will last a year as once you’ve applied the perfume it remains all day, which is lovely as it softens and changes on your skin over the day. I can 💯 % tell the difference between cheap and expensive scents.

Same. I wouldn't buy them but dh buys it for me.

My most expensive one was a gift from dh. 235 Baccarat rouge

Do you know Ambergris is whale vomit?

CanIPetThatDawg · 01/11/2023 15:31

I feel like the perfume pricing overton window has really shifted in the past 5 years or so. Everyone wants a super expensive fragrance from a niche parfumier.

Verv · 01/11/2023 15:55

Buffyj · 01/11/2023 15:30

Edited

Yep. Worth more than gold.
Im always looking for it on the beach!

ToadOnTheHill · 01/11/2023 16:00

What else would you spend the money on and would it make you as happy?

Can you stop buying something from the weekly shop, like £5 ice cream, and then it's basically free?! 😂

That's a computer game. Do you mean Creed Aventus?
